Visitors to Annandale can learn more about the traditional owners of the land and their history through a range of educational and cultural programs, including guided tours, exhibitions, and events organised by local Aboriginal organisations and community groups.

Annandale has a rich colonial history that dates back to the early 1800s. The suburb was named after Annandale House, a grand mansion that was built by George Johnston, a former military officer and one of the earliest settlers in the Sydney region. The house was named after the town of Annan in Scotland, where Johnston was born.
