Firefly Lodge - remote BOAT-ACCESS waterfront log home

This incredible custom-built log estate home is completely off grid on a remote BOAT-ACCESS 125 acre forest in the Kawarthas. A unique wilderness experience with over 2000' of frontage on sparsely populated Tangamong Lake, just over 2 hours from Toronto. You will need a boat (with max 25 HP motor allowed on the lake) to access the property. We do rent out our 16' aluminum jon boat with 15 HP outboard motor for an extra fee to those without their own boat.

Enjoy the tranquility of the lake on the private dock - the closest neighbour is about 600m away on the other side of the lake! Ski boats and jet skis are not allowed on Tangamong Lake, so there's no concern about the noise, pollution or risk to swimmers!

***Please note: the cottage is reached by a ~100m uphill path from the dock. Some guests may find the walk up hill to be a physical challenge***

The home features a magnificent, 30-foot tall great room, with full log timber-framing, a stone fireplace, and comfortable seating area. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer dramatic 180 degree views of the lake and surrounding forest. Through the double-French doors, enjoy dinner and games in the screened-in sun-room.

Access the wrap-around cedar deck from one of 3 separate points where you can relax in the lounge chairs or have a barbeque in one of two outdoor dining areas.

The master bedroom has a king-sized bed with two closets, en-suite bathroom with custom-built over-sized shower. Fall asleep to the sounds of loons, whip poor wills, owls, and occasionally howling wolves.

Retire upstairs via the staircase which wraps around the fireplace. The catwalk hallway facing the lake leads you to the 4 upstairs bedrooms. A second master suite features a wrought iron queen-sized bed, and three-piece en-suite. Three remaining bedrooms feature ample sleeping space for the rest of your group to take their pick! A second upstairs bathroom is 4 piece with a full-sized bathtub and shower.

Spend the day swimming, canoeing, kayaking, playing games, hiking on the trails behind the cottage, and relaxing on the dock or wrap around deck.

With 4 bathrooms and 5 bedrooms, we are aware the cottage can easily house more guests, however we have limited the maximum to 6 due to the off-grid nature of the property.
