We lucked out!

This cottage was a perfect fit for birders, away from the crowds and excellent open range area to catch the morning and dawn bird activity. The location is a short drive to the Chiricahuas. Our hostess was very accommodating, the rooms were well furnished and this provided a perfect base for our stay.

Peace and Quiet

My husband and I needed a quiet weekend escape and this place fit the bill perfectly. Despite the chill outside, the house remained perfectly cozy. It's also a very reasonable drive from Portal and the Cave Creek area if that's your trip goal. Our host was great. It's the perfect place to get off the beaten path for a bit. We had no cellphone service, but the wifi worked great.

This secluded property was just want we wanted. Surrounded by mountains. Quiet. Lots of stars. Comfortable. Karen was a very helpful host.

What an amazing place!

This place is amazing - what a great setting, beautiful evening skies, and a host who really cares about her guests! Karen's personal touches throughout this place reflects her desire to meet all her guests' needs. From excellent internet and WiFi, multiple charging stations, a nice desk area and a WiFi printer, I had everything I needed to work effectively. The many books and games, a smart TV, telescope, many art pieces and a nice deck with firepit, made it an enjoyable place to relax.The kitchen had all the necessary amenities, and the bathroom was very functional and tastefully arranged with plenty of clean towels and a shampoo/soap dispenser in the shower.Most of all, her place is SPOTLESS! A real gem in a beautiful and remote area but with all the comforts of home! (Her dogs came to visit me too and they were awesome!)I highly recommend this place!!!

Great for Stargazing and Birding

We were looking for a place that put us close to Cave Creek for birding and a place that would allow for stargazing. This was perfect. In 20 minutes we could drive to the Cave Creek area for some incredible birding options. I was surprised to see over 25 species from the deck of this house in less than 3 hours of birding over three evenings as we sat on the deck in the shade and the sun behind us making for great photos! We also caught a meteor shower which was impressive. The home was very comfortable and had everything we needed to prepare our own meals. The host was very easy to reach as we planned our trip and checked in and out.
