Great house but in need of repair and updating.
We had a family holiday here for 3 nights, and sadly we wouldn't be recommending the property in its current state.Firstly the positives - the lodge is big, and there is plenty of room for large groups and families to enjoy. The dining room and living room are central and we had the open fire going each night which was lovely. There is a games room set up in the garage with table tennis and fusbal which got a good workout.Unfortunately the weather was against us over the 3 days and due to the very high position on the hill it felt like we were staying in the clouds the whole time. We could barely see out the windows to enjoy the view, and we would assume its like this when cloudy, rainy etc.Because of the extreme dampness, the house has a considerable mould issue which you can small straight away. There was mould on a few of the internal walls and most of us left the house coughing after 3 nights. There is also a mouse issue - seen many times and we had to move the kids around as they were particularly bad in the lower rooms. The carpets need replacing, the kitchen and pantry was quite dirty with small bush cockroaches around, and the dishwasher wasn't working - for a large group it made cleaning up a bit tricky. The tv has limited apps, and you can't add more. The Sky Sport app come up with a notification the device is not supported anymore. The lodge could be great, if cleaned properly and repaired. Hopefully the owners can put some TLC into it.
