Slice of paradise

We really enjoyed our stay at Mary & Dan's property and they were wonderful hosts. The unit has lots of Florida charm and thoughtful details -- like an umbrella hanging by the door, just in case! The colorful and comfortable outdoor space was great for relaxing, and the beach is a 3-minute mosey down the street -- perfect! If we visit the area again, I'd rebook it in a heartbeat.

Restful, peaceful, enjoyable, and wonderful!!!

My husband and I celebrated our Anniversary at Mary and Dan’s. From the moment we arrived, we felt like family. Their yard is a relaxing botanical garden. The “cottage” is tiny, but big enough to feel cozy and comfortable. The decor is charming and everything you need is already there, right down to the Keurig with a variety of flavors. I loved the numerous hooks for hanging our bags, towels, etc. to keep things tidy and neat. We took our bicycles and utilized them daily for Publix runs, beach rides, and to enjoy the trails at Lovers Key, and the Ding Darling nature preserve on Sanibel Island. Everything you will need for the beach, which is a 3 minute walk, is provided. We loved the ease of having the wagon, chairs, towels, and cooler for our use. Every evening we enjoyed the sunsets on the beach. This mid-island location is quiet with no crowds on the beach. This was one of our most relaxing trips. Can’t wait to return. Thanks, Mary and Dan.

Perfect little get away

Mary and Dan were the perfect hosts. They gave us all the privacy we could have wanted. The neighborhood was extremely quiet for being right on the beach. They had everything you would need for a day at the beach. Everything was supplied for you to use. The property was done up beautifly with plants, flowers, palm trees, and lawn decor. Right down to lights at night highlighting everything. They were very knowledgeable about the island if you had questions about the area. It was cozy and comfortable and we would definetly stay there again. Between the host and the area I would give this a 10 out of 10. Thank you so much for having us as your guests in your cottage and being the perfect hosts. Until next time

Beautiful blessing!

I wasn’t sure how we would enjoy staying at a place with owners living above us. I was looking for a private place for us. But because of the great reviews and the flexibility of the dates we needed, we went this route. I am SO glad we did! The property is beautiful, and Dan and Mary are so chill and welcoming and make you feel like long time friends when you meet them, and are available if you need anything! They left us to ourselves and gave us whatever space we wanted to do our planned things. But I also wish we had more time to just visit and learn from them, because they are full of knowledge and information and just a blessing to be around! Mary is incredibly talented and precious, and showed us some of the projects she works on. I am so glad I was able to purchase and take some of her “beach art” home with us to remember! I truly think I would love to be her friend and spend more time with her if we lived there. :) <3 I highly recommend their place. It truly is a quick walk to the beach, and it is a quiet neighborhood away from other rentals where there are more people and commotion. I will miss our time there and it has brought such wonderful memories for my husband and I as we celebrated our 30th anniversary there. I do think it would feel a bit small for three adults, but a child would be ok, since it’s a studio apartment. Besides that, it is decorated so adorable and has everything you could want or need! Thank you, Grateful Beach for such a great first experience and visit to Fort Myers Beach!

Living on Sponge cake!

This was my first solo vacation and I was a bit apprehensive about finding a place to stay where I would feel safe, be close to the beach, and have access to transportation because I didn't want to rent a car. I read the wonderful reviews and decided to take a chance. It truly exceeded my expectations! It was clean, private, (but close to everything!) beautifully appointed, and had everything I needed to enjoy the beach provided for me! All I had to do was cross the street and I had my toes in the sand. Mary and Dan are gracious and friendly hosts with extensive knowledge about the island and it's offerings. It was my own little 'slice of paradise' and I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else when returning to the area.

Absolutely Perfect!

My wife & I loved everything about this place. Yes it is small but so much nicer than a hotel room of comparable price. It is artfully and tastefully decorated inside and out. The landscaping is impeccable and you feel guilty about parking on the lawn. We met Dan at checkin. He gave us the tour and even walked us to the beach just a few hundred yards away. This is a perfect place for a couple looking for a budget friendly beach getaway!

This place is the BEST!

Where do I even begin? This cute and cozy place was the perfect home away from home with the perfect hosts. So welcoming and loads of great info and recommendations Mary was eager to share. In particular, I enjoyed Pinchers (try the grilled shrimp!), Doc Ford's, The Island Pancake House, and my dolphin and shell cruise with Good Time Charters (all were recommondations from Mary). There were so many great decorations, both indoors and outside, that every day, I kept discovering new things I hadn't noticed before! I loved the neighborhood and the short 1-2 block walk to the beach. Dan and Mary had everything you could imagine for your trip to the beach...chairs, beach towels, beach toys, water bottles, a cooler with ice and drinks if you want them, and a wagon to pull it all in. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. They had perfect reviews and I found it to be true. It was so much better than the high-rise condos on the beach. All the personal touches really make the difference and i appreciated each one. They want you to feel right at home and I sure did! I hope to go back one day.

Perfect Getaway Spot!

My (now) husband and I were looking for a place to stay for a few days at our favorite place, Ft Myers Beach, and we came across Dan and Mary’s adorable little cottage! It was in the perfect location, just a short 2 minute walk to the beach. Plenty of privacy and everything you could need and more right at the location. Well stocked and very clean. We got married right on the beach at sunset on May 3rd. We also are BIG shellers so that’s the perfect spot! We also went down to Goodland about and hour south and took a shell tour from Treasure Seekers. Well worth the trip if you love shelling as much as we do. We can’t thank our hosts enough for helping to make our little getaway just as we imagined. We didn’t want to leave!

Home away from home

My wife and I love staying at this property. It feels like home. Mary goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Better than any resort. Beautiful landscaping, and inside is perfect for a couple looking for a private getaway Beach access is a right across the street We will be back for the 3rd time for sure!

These hosts were very accommodating. From the moment we arrived, they walked us around the property and showed us everything or anything we would need. The property was very clean and very peaceful. A host checked in on us from time to time to make sure we had everything we needed. They had so many thoughtful items throughout this property. Every detail was carefully thought out. The Perfect Getaway!

Not sure there are enough adjectives to describe how fantastic our stay at Mary & Dan’s Grateful Beach on Fort Myers Beach was. 5 stars certainly doesn’t begin to indicate how great it is. To start with, the location is perfect! Mid Island, quiet and convenient to everything, with direct beach access a two minute walk away. The studio was absolutely perfect for us with more amenities than we could use. The outdoor space is magnificent, what Mary and Dan have created is an island paradise! We loved just sitting outside at the fire pit or on the beautiful swing. The location is ideal for day trips to Lovers Key or Sanibel which were both fabulous and sitting in the beach across the street watching the incredible sunset doesn’t get much better. Finally the hosts, Mary & Dan, they are absolutely the most welcoming, accommodating people you could ever meet. They have thought of everything and if there is anything you might need, just ask and they will get it. Mary & Dan could not have made us more comfortable. By the end of our stay we felt like part of the family. It was the most relaxing vacation we have ever been on and we will be heading back next year without a doubt! Mary & Dan’s Grateful Beach is our new vacation destination!!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed this cute property. Mary and Dan thought of everything one might need. Located a block away from the beach access was super convenient! Super close to many places to dine. Their patio and landscaping were beautifully done and we enjoyed spending a lot of time out there. Could not be more pleased with our visit.

This was a little oasis of paradise. The pictures are very accurate. Dan and Mary are wonderful. It was amazing how quiet it was on such a busy island. Beach access was great. I would highly recommend staying here. We loved it!

Perfect location

It is the perfect location on the island and located less than a 5 minute walk from the beach. This location is perfect for 1-2 people it is newly remodeled and well decorated. If you are looking for a relaxing spot with quick beach access and great host this is the place for you.

A sweet and funky place to stay and enjoy the beach

Set an a beautiful garden this little efficiency is funky and friendly. Art abounds. It is tiny. I would have a hard time imagining more than two staying here. But charming and cute. The owners are friendly and helpful. The owner Mary spent so much time with my seven year old grandson that she was the highlight of his visit.

The experience of renting this property was fantastic the owners were very easy to communicate with always answered our questions were very friendly and they gave us plenty of privacy the place was even more amazing in person then it looked on the Vrbo website and I’m so excited to try to book with them again for next year.

Very nice stay

Beautiful room, and the hosts were very nice and accommodating. It is about a 2-3 minute walk to the beach, and they have all the beach supplies there for you to use. Right off the main street, but far enough that there is no noise from the traffic. Thumbs up!

Enjoyed our stay at this property. Mary and Dan made us feel right at home.

Great location, easy walk to the beach. The apartment/kitchen had everything we needed. Outdoor space was amazing, loved having coffee in Mary's beautiful garden in the morning, having a glass of wine around the fire pit in the evening. Mary and Dan were very attentive to our needs. Hope to stay here again.

Adorable little beach house!

This little studio is just adorable. It has everything one could need. It’s about three miles from most of the bars and restaurants. We rented electric bikes from the neighbor, which was very convenient. The traffic on the island is pretty bad, but we enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I moved to Fort Myers Beach from Kansas City (GO CHIEFS) a little over 2 years ago. He is originally from New England so game days can be interesting around here. We actually came here for vacation and fell in love with this coastal cottage home. It has been a wonderful experience in so many ways.
The wildlife and plants here are beautiful. We wake to a morning walk on the beach only to return to the beach later to watch amazing sunsets. Biking, exploring the island and enjoying the laid back lifestyle has it benefits too. It is always fun to go explore some of the many islands that are close to here also. Each one has a unique atmosphere and downtown area. The beaches vary greatly also in what shells, the kind of sand it has and the vegetation and wildlife in that area. We stay as busy as we want but make plenty of time for relaxation.
We hope that you can relax and enjoy your stay here.

Especially in these difficult times of social distancing it is nice to find a place where you have complete control over your exposure to others. With this being a private house with only 1 rental area your privacy and safety are protected.
Most food suppliers and restaurants offer delivery if you prefer to going out or cooking.
It is very important that your stay is comfortable in all ways. Extended cleaning regimens are followed after every renter. We offer safe, clean fun and relaxation in our little island paradise.
