Historic home in seaside village of Swansboro w/ private beach parking

Experience luxury in a home from the early 19th century that was lovingly restored from the studs up. This beautiful home is situated in the quaint seaside town of Swansboro NC, walking distance from the areas best restaurants and dockside fishing. It is nestled on a quiet street with a wonderful heated Saltwater pool (heated April, May, September and October for $75/day fee), 3 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths and a media room. We rent Fri-Fri weekly from June-August and 2-day minimums all other months. If you want the pool heated please let your host know at least 2 days in advance as it takes 4-8 hrs to bring the pool to temperature (82°) depending on the starting temps of the water.

We were in town to celebrate a dear friends birthday. My family and I stayed at this gorgous home, clearly renovated with style and class...the kitchen was exact to the photos Viking appliances, marble counters, all the bedrooms had what you need with comfortable beds, plenty of room for a family of 6

Quick weekend getaway that should have been longer, the house was well apportioned and had everything needed. The host was responsive and helpful. A parking space on Emerald Isle two minutes from beach access is a bonus. Highly recommend the property.

Swansboro weekend

Stunning historical home with a beautiful kitchen and bathrooms. The property also features a great pool and bonus room, with plenty of space throughout. The location is fantastic, within walking distance to restaurants, making it even more convenient. The host was very responsive and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Relaxing Beach Getaway!

We loved this beach cottage. It fit our families needs perfectly. Cottage was very clean when we arrived. The outdoor living areas (deck/pool) were great! The beach was just a short walk. Street was very quiet which we loved. Will definitely be coming back in the future!

Perfect Retreat

Perfect get away for me and my daughter over Mother's Day weekend. Gorgeous luxury home with more amenities than can be taken advantage of in a few days. Walking distance to all of charming Swansboro. Incredibly accommodating and responsive host. I could use all the superlatives and it would still not be enough. A "must return" on my list.

Best vacation house!

Adorable cottage, perfectly clean, amazing location to beach and bike paths, awesome pool area, spacious decks and a cozy screened in porch...the list can go on. The house is decorated so lovely and in a quiet, safe neighborhood. My family enjoyed every minute of the house and beach and pool!! We rented bikes for the week so we could explore the area - so many places to check out as the house is in a GREAT location. Owners were available if we needed anything. This house was a blessing!

Still Charming

This was my family's third year to visit the Charming Cottage during my grandson's fall break. It was as charming as ever with a feeling of home since we'd been there before. Beautifully decorated and maintained, the cottage is located just a short walk from the beach, so that we can enjoy taking a quick walk down to the beach just to check out conditions or enjoy the sunset. The pool out back offers a great option to the beach. We'll be back next year!

Peaceful house and neighborhood, perfect pool, close to beach

Mike was a great host! The house had everything we needed for a peaceful time at the beach. Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We all had good nights of sleep in this quiet neighborhood. My kids really enjoyed the heated pool - it was perfect for the time we stayed! The house was a short walk to the beach. The outdoor shower was a nice bonus. We also enjoyed both decks. Thank you for a wonderful (and much needed) time of rest for my family!

Return to the peaceful Cottage

Our second year in this lovely home and cannot wait to go back. Mike is so easy to communicate with. The house is so clean and has absolutely every and any supply you may need. Kids love the pool, proximity to the beach and the ability to ride their bikes safely all around the neighborhood and down to ice cream! Pool is majestic, bedrooms are comfortable and clean, porches surrounding entire house provide for so many places to relax or enjoy a good book or eat a meal outside! Thank you for sharing this home with us!

Quiet and pleasant

It was great that the owner lived close by. He was responsive, very helpful, and nice. My only complaint is that the thermostat was locked and the AC was set to 76 degrees on the first floor which was too warm for our northern sensibilities. Other than that, it was great. It is a very nice place and is close to the beach. Neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. You can't see the ocean from the house but you can hear it which was pleasant. I will definitely try to stay here again if I come back to Emerald Isle.

“Best house!” - 9 year old

This home is gorgeous and the owners hospitality is top notch. The home is very clean, comfortable and luxurious. Mike made sure all we had to do was have a good time. He came by a few times during our stay to keep the pool clean and take out the trash can (like a ninja). Great communication and everything is very well maintained. Some key features that other VRBO’s have not had include well stocked kitchen with SHARP knives and all the utensils to make anything you want. To include cookies. Having two living rooms is also a nice bonus. Despite hurricane Debby trying to be a downer, this was one of our favorite family vacations.

The home had plenty of room for our party of 5. It is a short walk to Emerald Isle Woods Park, and an even shorter walk to the beach access. We didn't even need to bring all of our beach chairs. There are plenty of beach chairs, sand toys, and a rolling beach wagon provided. In fact, we brought with us so many household items that were not necessary as the house is stocked with plenty. We were happy to find hand soap at each sink, extra toilet paper, and a well-stocked kitchen with a variety of spices and coffee. The pool, porches, and decks had plenty of chairs for lounging. My favorite feature is the unique landscaping that provides privacy and the many enchanting statuettes. The neighborhood is quiet and feels safe. You will see people walking their dogs and riding bikes with their children. It was a perfect stay for us! We would love to return!

Amazing house!

The house and overall experience was great! Easy booking, EXCELLENT communication and killer location. We have 2 kids and it was the perfect setup for the whole family. The house layout, the porches and not to mention the pool, kept us happy the entire trip. The kitchen is stocked and the pool is too. We had a blast and will absolutely be back. If you are thinking about booking this house, do it! You won’t be disappointed in the beach trip experience. Mike, the owner, will take great care of you!

Nice stay, responsive owners

Very peaceful and quiet area but still incredibly close to restaurants, shopping, etc. We had an issue the first day with the air conditioning not working right and within a couple of hours, Mike had someone out to the house and had it fixed for the rest of our stay. House was nice, pool area was great and the walk to the beach was only about 4-5 minutes depending how much stuff we were carrying.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Charming Cottage by the sea! The house had everything we needed and more and was so close to the beach. We had fun swimming in the pool that was private from the neighbors. We would definitely come back!

Wonderful Beach Property

We had a great family vacation at Charming Cottage By the Sea. Michael made the check in process seamless and all communication prior to/during the trip was handled easily and promptly. The walk to the beach was ~1/4 mile and was easy for all in our party. Some highlights of the home were the well stocked spice rack that made meal prep a breeze and the grill that was in excellent condition and well maintained (not always a given with coastal rentals). I have no hesitation regarding renting this property in the future.

Peaceful Beach & Pool retreat

The perfect “charming” house for our stay. Literally a 90 second walk to the beach with a straight walk. Lovely residential neighborhood. The property itself is so well maintained with beautiful trees and gardens that make the stay so welcoming. The house itself has EVERYTHING you need. Fresh towels on each bed, super comfortable mattresses and plenty of pillows on each bed. Each bathroom is equipped with any any all supplies you may need. The laundry is modern and enormous with ease of use downstairs. Each porch offers a nice relaxing angle of the yard, ocean and peaceful neighborhood. The pool is perfect with great LED lights for night swimming. The gate does lock if you have concerns for safety. Seemingly brand new Weber Grill w propane made cooking in so easy. The house is .5 miles away from a local ice cream shop (kids can go alone on safe paths), pizza, restaurant and more. Food Lion and Publix less than a 3 minute drive! Really enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Quiet neighborhood

This house was a short walk to the beach. It was so nice to have all of the bathrooms stocked with toiletries. The kitchen was also very well stocked. The outdoor space was lovely with the choice of relaxing by the pool, reading a book in the rocking chair on the screened porch or enjoying one of the decks. The owners are wonderful hosts and did a very nice job of making our vacation a comfortable stay.

Quiet R & R

Charming Cottage was an excellent place to stay for our vacation at Emerald Isle! Pros - Quiet neighborhood with many friendly locals (it seemed that many were residents and not just vacation property rentals) - location was secluded but close to shopping and restaurants. - Pool was great to relax in after going to the beach - Lawn was well kept and landscaped - Close walk to the beach - Kitchen was well equipped - We rented bikes and it was fun time to grocery shop and bike to sunsets. There are designated bike paths everywhere. - House had very comfortable beds Cons -needed hooks to hang keys possibly located near door or kitchen - the decorations were lovely but many surfaces on the main floor such as end / coffee table, kitchen table had so many decorations that it was difficult to find a place to put our own items. It was a fantastic week at the beach for our family and Charming Cottage made that possible!

Great place to stay!

This was a great place to stay! Lots of fun to have our own private pool! Our family had a wonderful time. The house was nice and clean and had tons of extras for our use… shampoo, soaps, pool accessories, beach chairs and accessories, kitchen had anything you could need! It was just a short walk to the beach! We had to reach out to the owners only once during our stay and they got back in touch within minutes!

My wife and I have been married 40 years and have travelled and lived around the world, and consider travel our #1 hobby, with cooking being a close 2d (the kitchen caused me to fall in love with this home). We have 3 grown children. We live on nearby Emerald Isle but have always loved the community of Swansboro, and we finally found a home we fell in love with! We hope you love it too.

We have lived on Emerald Isle since 1991 and have been fortunate to experience the wonders of Swansboro since that time. We retired here in 2009 and decided to purchase this Swansboro home after falling in love with the home and its location.

An amazing renovation was completed on this home and it is fitted with the best of everything. It is luxurious yet charming; historical, yet replete with many modern conveniences.....truly the best of both worlds
