This is a charming little house tucked between beautiful victorians just a few blocks from downtown Waupaca. The grounds are beautifully kept, there is a place to sit outside, there is a restaurant on site in one of the big houses. The little cottage is an older house but clean and well kept, very big open main room and lots of room in the BR with twin beds. Kitchen is on the small side. Magical atmosphere on the property and walking distance from Waupaca Main St shopping or beautiful parks in the other direction.
We never stayed at the cabin. The owner double booked us and graciously upgraded us to her victorian bnb which is right up my zone. Unfortunately there was a lot of miscommunication when we arrived regarding the kitchen. Jenny who checked us in was lovely and told us to make ourselves at home. mentioned that the chef would also be making our breakfast and something about him having a lunch and dinner event. The chef on the other hand was a complete control freak. when we learned that we could've had lunch or dinner there he said it was too late because we had to make reservations the day before. Yet I never saw a menu or anyone eat there! It was wierd and ultimately not the best experience due to interactions with him. Clearly he was under stress and short handed so i tried to be empathetic. I briefly met the owner for a second. She never stepped in to help out the chef. We loved the town of Waupaca. Great location. I just wish they communicated the whole restaurant thing in advance of our arrival. I think the owner should have been more preemptive on what to expect regarding the restaurant there. we were the only ones in the bnb. We had never been to Wisconsin before so we didn't know. The beds were comfortable and I loved the decor. The chef wanted to charge me for tea when Jenny said it was comp and i had brought my own filtered water since she said tap wasn't filtered. a LOT of miscommunication that could've been easily avoided if the owner had reached out.
