It was fairly nice, but the basement smelled like mildew really bad. No one wanted to go down there because of the smell. Therefore, we never got to play games. The place was very hot when we arrived, but after opening the windows which weren't locked and turning fans on it cooled down. The dishwasher wasn't unloaded. TV's were really nice.
We vacationed with our children and their families. The house was very clean and met all of our needs. You need to bring most of your food, as the only grocery is a small IGA market and a Dollar General. The local gift shop was awesome offering a coffee bar and baked goods along with souvenirs. The area is pretty secluded but very close to Snowshoe Mountain resort where we got day passes for swimming. Also, the historical town of Cass featured train rides and little shops. We took long hikes up the mountain road close to the house and saw lots of deer, rabbits, and heard birds chirping. We set up a baby pool and water bounce house in the back yard for the little ones and it was a perfect spot. We were hesitant of using the charcoal grill, but it proved to be more than adequate for steaks, burgers, and brats. We loved the decks and the fire pit for cooking s'mores. If you love nature and getting away from the business of life, this is the place for you. Brian was a great host.
It was a very relaxing stay. If staying in summer time there is no AC itâs very warm at night. There is not TVs is all bedrooms and the private suite bedroom did not have a remote. The bathrooms do not have blinds in windows. Outside the house could be cleaned up with some weed whacking. Overall had a great time!!
We rented this for the weekend; it was absolutely perfect, the owner was courteous and was able to accommodate our stay-which we are very thankful!! The house was super clean with everything you needed! Would definitely stay here again!!! Highly recommend! Thanks again!!
This home was the perfect size for our group - 7 adults and 3 kids. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking necessities, even things like flour and sugar. And the game room was great for the kids! The host quickly responded to any questions or concerns. We would definitely stay here again!
We just got home from a week vacation in this rental. Perfect for our family Thanksgiving and having some quiet time away in the mountains. Pictures were accurate, everything was clean and ready for us upon arrival and host communication was fabulous. Beds were super comfortable and large tub in master was a nice way to unwind. Hope to be back next year for round two. Highly recommend.
This cabin is amazing! Very spacious and clean. Beds are so comfortable, lots of towels, all kinds of stuff there for cooking ex. Pots and pans, crockpot, waffle iron, utensils and spices. It definitely was way more than what I expected. There is no phone reception but the WiFi is amazing.
We came with high expectations and they all were met. It was the perfect place for meeting with friends, kicking back, and just enjoying the outdoors, each other, and leaving the rest of the world to itself for a while.
It was amazing time! The house is very clean and has a lot of rooms! My kids were happy to play in play room! Wi-fi is very strong, that was the first question of my kids as soon we arrived! The house is like 10 min away from River Creek and 15 min away form Snowshoe village! Communiction with owner (Brian) was really good and, and he allowed as check out a little bit later, that was really important for my big family! Thanks a lot, Brian, it was great time for our family and was nothing wrong to have good vacation. I will definitely recommend this house to my friends.
Our family of 5 decided to visit the West Virginia mountains from the Virginia suburbs. The location of the house was perfect for a family retreat, the board games and arcade kept the kids well entertained while my wife and I enjoyed the deck. We didnât realize the âNational Radio Quiet Zoneâ but we downloaded a map ahead of time and the house has great WiFi. We wanted to visit Snowshoe but found out that everything closed the week before, make sure you check the calendar. Cass is nearby and offers a few things, not many restaurants nearby so be prepared to cook or bring some prepared food. Overall we had a great time on our short stay, the deck offers great stargazing.
Well appointed. Very comfortable home. We are a group of longtime friends who get together in the mountains every Oct.
This was one of nicest places we have stayed. Would love to return again.
Our stay here was amazing! The house and location are beautiful! Perfect mountain getaway for a large group. All necessities were wellstocked. The host (Brian) was very responsive and helpful when needed! Would definitely recommend this home. I certainly hope to be able to visit again in the future!
Booking, check in, stay and check out were all super easy and the property is great. Went down to celebrate my 30th birthday weekend with a few other couples and we all had a great time. There were 6 of us and we didn't have to use any of the downstairs bedrooms. The place is huge and it was very clean throughout. Game room is a super fun spot to hang out in and both the front porch and back porch/patio area are spots for everyone to get together. Probably less than a 5 minute drive from the Raven Golf Club where we played which was also a great track. Couldn't recommend this property enough and would definitely stay again whenever in the area.
This property was in a private setting and was perfect for our reunion. The house had plenty of room for 8 adults (even enough room if anyone needed some alone time). The house was well stocked with all of the essentials and Brian was very prompt responding to our needs/questions.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hidden Hollow. The house is beautiful! There were 12 of us on site, and the layout was perfect for our large family. Highlights were the immaculate master suite and bath, the separate guest suite, and patios and balcony. I loved having 2 full kitchens at my disposal. They were well appointed with everything I needed to prepare meals for my large group. Our host, Brian, made sure to address all of our concerns and sent his housekeeping staff to assist us with any issues we encountered during our stay.
I would definitely recommend a visit to the snowshoe area. Hiking trails, ATVing, climbing a 7 story firetower, and a waterfall excursion that gave us the most AWESOME views and a challenging cardio and leg workout were our favorite outings. It was a quiet week in the village since we arrived the Sunday before Memorial Day. So, if you're looking to have snowshoe mountain all to yourself, this is the time to visit. âș
Our family stayed here for Thanksgiving. Itâs a beautiful home in a great location. There was plenty of everything we needed and the home was clean and comfortable. Itâs very well thought out for family fun and relaxation.
Brian (our host) was great. He responded very quickly and provided all of the information we needed to enjoy the property and area. Highly recommended!
I am a Tar Heel (raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina), and Security Professional. As a longtime homeowner myself I always treat the places I stay with respect and care, and interact with hosts (and guests) with the same responsibility and kindness. I love skiing, teaching, time with friends and family, and am a part-time filmmaker.
