Great location, public beach is across the street. Jose was very good at communicating and Claudia at the property was THE BEST!! The only draw back, it's 3-4 flights of stairs up, so keep that in mind if you have a lot of luggage like we did. We'll be back!
This place was adequate. Good location. I wouldnât consider it ocean front. Itâs across the street to the ocean. Good ac comfy beds. There was no drinking water or beach towels. Good we brought our own. Good communication. Easy walking to beaches, port, shopping restaurants and music. I would stay again !
Our overall experience was ok. We did not get the unit we were assigned on VRBO. Didnât like the propane tank that powered the stove being in the room next to where we slept. Kitchen was extremely small with limited cutlery. We really loved the location and Claudia was fantastic so mixed feeling on a future visit.
Pros: Location was great. The AC was great.
Cons: No hot water at all. The shower was only a trickle of cold water that wouldnât turn off. Slight trickle of water in kitchen sink. Strong smell of mold. The beds were extremely hard. The door lock was very sketchy.
We were so uncomfortable there that we left after the 2nd night. We paid for 6 nights.
I wasn't sure what to expect as I haven't stayed on Isla since 2000. The spacious unit is on the 3rd floor overlooking a busy street with an excellent beach just across the road. The microwave, coffee maker and mattress are brand new. There are beautifully cala lily carvings on the headboards of the beds as well as on the table. The location is ideal, making everything in town an easy walk usually within 10 minutes. The neighbors are quiet and Claudia the caretaker/cleaning lady/contact person is very pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. I would stay here again without hesitation. There are a few problems, nothing major. There is a lot of noise on the road below from tourists, vendors, noisy scooters and golf carts, taxi traffic but it seems contained from 10:00 to 5:00 because of the hoards of daytrippers from Cancun. The balcony windows do a good job keeping most of the noise outside the unit. After the daytrippers return to Cancun, it is quite quiet. The unit really needs a side table and lamp next to the bed(s). I improvised but would prefer a lamp to use instead of my flashlight. The water pressure is mostly a dribble on the faucet in the kitchen. It is fine in the shower and bathroom. The shower hot water was very hot, not tepid like some places I did like the fridge/freezer as it was super cold. I would also replace the basic coffee maker with a better model as it was not user friendly and a pain to use/clean the basket which was also too small for regular filters.
The lodging is a good budget option in a very vibrant (busy) area. The room is very basic but clean. It is located directly across from the beach, and though you don't really get a view of the water it is conveniently located to enjoy the beach. We appreciated the 2 beach chairs provided and took the opportunity to enjoy the beach with them in the shade of the palm trees. During the day it is very noisy but by early evening most of the day trippers returned to Cancun, we did not have any noise issues at night while trying to sleep. Overall if you are looking for a decent budget option in a central location this is a good place. My one complaint is the communication was lacking. I reached out via email to the host 24 hours before check-in and didn't receive any response. I had the address from the confirmation but was not sure how we would be able to get into the room. Once we arrived on site, I phoned the host and he promptly responded with information but while on vacation and having only access to wi-fi calling it would be helpful to have this information communicated at least one day prior to arrival.
After a bit of difficulty finding the location, we realized we were directly on the central avenue. This is a third floor walk-up so be prepared to carry yours bags up the steps. If you like to people watch, this place will do the trick. You can see the island people and tourists coming and going all day. You will be directly across from the central beach or you can easily walk to Playa Norte.
The room is spacious with two double beds, a table/chairs, sofa and chair. We did not use the small kitchen but having a refrigerator was nice.
It is a simple unit; very clean and convenient to everything town has to offer.
