Lovely house. Excellent host and a very friendly dog. This was our second time here and it was just as good- definitely recommend it for a lovely relaxing holiday but within a short drive to shops, restaurants and a swimming lake
This house is situated brilliantly for a rural holiday in France with great local towns, a near lake and lots of choice for restaurants within a short drive.
We loved the terrace where we ate every day shaded by a glorious vine.
The owners lived next door and were very helpful.
Sadly when we were there they were not offering diner.
We actually came to this house BY MISTAKE. We had thought we were making a booking far away, and only discovered that we were going here the night before. (Our mistake.)
It was a delight - and a relief - therefore to find that the place was really lovely.
The lake is nice, a few miles away, and you could spend days there, but apart from that thereâs not a great deal nearby. However, the house itself is lovely â the garden is lovely, and the host, Maelissa, was sweet, welcoming and helpful.
The garden is big and there are three bedrooms, each with a bathroom. The central area is a nice family area with kitchen, dining table and sofas. Thereâs a barbecue outside and we ate many meals outside at the large table.
Perhaps the highlight for me was THE HAMMOCK. I could - and did - spend hours in it with my book.
We made some family videos which we put on Instagram made at the house. Look at @SomeVirgos if interested.
Absolutely brilliant week Host very friendly and gave nice touches - cake, wine and flowers. Then we got fruit and veg from her garden. Could not recommend more and will definitely be back
Very well equiped property in a peaceful location. It is just like the description and photographs. It's a stone building so was still cool even at 40degrees.. There is also shade outside under the vine. We found it difficult to force ourselves out. The owners also run the guest house next door you must eat there Maelisa's food is amazing. There are no shops in Videix but several good supermarkets a few miles away. There is a good sized freezer which we used for meat and bread to avoid too many shopping trips. On arrival there was a basket of home grown vegetables and salad waiting for us together with a delicious cake and jam. There was only 2 of us so to avoid temptation I sliced it and froze some. The roads in the area are in really good condition and so little traffic. We are hoping to return next year.
A beautiful Gite with everything you need for a relaxing stay
We really enjoyed our recent stay. Maelisa and family are so welcoming and helpful and the welcome basket of homegrown produce, cake and wine was a lovely surprise.
The Gite is spacious, comfortable and within perfect driving distance of various tourist delights.
The star of the stay however has to be LILO the gorgeous family dog who is so friendly. His daily visits just made our stay perfect. I would highly recommend a stay here, we certainly how to return!
The house was fantastic ,nicely decorated and comfortable ,nicely equipped kitchen for cooking meals ,great outdoor patio and garden .Bakeries and grocery stores nearby . short drive to the dordogne region with excellent foie gras and duck confit .
I am Irish but was born and raised in Zambia and for many years we ran a safari camp deep in the wilds of the North Luangwa National Park. My husband Rod and I have swapped that for a life in France - we live across the way from the Gite in the old farmhouse (which we run as a Chambre d'HĂŽte) with our children, a couple of cats, a dog, rabbit and several chickens (some of whom remain outside). We are on hand to help should you need any help or advice about the local area.
Situated in the green heart of France - very rural and bucolic but within easy reach (15 minute drive) of supermarkets, restaurants, bars and banks. Very safe for families with young children - it is single level - and a delight for nature lovers.
Lots of space and privacy for several couples to be able to share. Lots to do in the immediate area, cycle (we have bikes available to borrow), walk (there are several well marked trails), swim (in the nearby lake), bird watch (in the grounds and around) or visit the local towns, villages and points of historical interest.
