Bathroom could have been cleaner and there were zero spices in the kitchen (not even salt). The place will comfortably sleep 6 or 7 but itâs very difficult for a large group to hang out in any room or either porch. Our large group had to separate into different areas to hang out unless we all sat in the front yard.
The location was beautiful. It is about 25min from Boone and 50min away from sugar mountain. The house is cozy and old. It was very clean. The house needs a little tlc as there are things falling apart. Bathroom cabinets, soap dispenser filled with mostly water, light fixtures without working bulbs in bedroom and downstairs hall, etc. Besides this, we had a great time and was perfect for our family
Overall nice property ease access to Boone and surrounding areas. The outside needs yard maintenance and the bedrooms need updated/ new bed spreads. The sofa in the TV room needs replacing. The house itself was very comfortable, warm and all you needed.
I want to write a fair review and explain the grade I gave it.
I will start with the positives which completely outweigh the negatives. Firstly, it is in the best location if you want to spend time on the river. There is a small park that is a 2min walk to get to and you can swim there or get on tubes or kyaks and ride them from there down, or you can drive a mile or two up the road and park, and put in there and get out at the park, or you can put in at the park and there are two places you can get out at. Don't have tubes? There are three tube rental places, one across from the house, and one at each end of the road, so you are covered. For our needs, it was a perfect spot.
Secondly, the house was pretty nice on the inside. It was clean and they pretty much have it user friendly stocked. The inside was pretty much how they presented it and the outside was kind of. The house was really nice, on the inside upstairs and downstairs and overall it was a great place to stay, but it does have some issues you will notice. So, here are the negatives: Firstly, they need more bowls, stirring spoons, mixer beaters (had a mixer but no beaters), rubber spatula, and just general kitchen supplies used for cooking. They had plenty of pans and pots. Knives were dull, so need a way to sharpen them. If we use this house again, we will bring a sharpener. The kitchen layout is alright, but the stovetop takes a little bit to heat up, but once it does, it stays hot for a while, so beware of that. There is no icemaker, but they do provide ice trays and a bowl. The water is great!!! The floor in the kitchen has some soft spots, as well as the floor in front of the downstairs bathroom. We had an issue with the tv remote that wouldn't work, so we called and they came out, however, the only place it worked for was the upstairs tv and the static was so bad you couldn't really watch it, so we did without tv, which was fine. We were able to manually control the one downstairs with the console. The upstairs restroom toilet area is poorly designed; they have a ledge that runs alongside the toilet that forces you to sit on it at an angle, which is very uncomfortable, but the little boys loved it for a foot rest. They use window units, so no central heat and air, but we had no problem with that; it stayed a nice temp in the house. There is no cell phone coverage there, so use the wireless, which isn't that great upstairs. Landscape needs better care. Look for my other review.
