«Hopetoun Grande» est un appartement lumineux, spacieux et entiĂšrement rĂ©novĂ© de trois chambres avec de grandes grandes fenĂȘtres gĂ©orgiennes et de hauts plafonds en plein centre de la ville. À distance de marche du théùtre Playhouse, de la rue principale, des jardins botaniques, de la gare et du tramway.

Un Ă©lĂ©gant appartement d'une vaste superficie de 180 mĂštres carrĂ©s / 2000 pieds carrĂ©s situĂ© au troisiĂšme Ă©tage d'un bel immeuble gĂ©orgien situĂ© au cƓur de la ville d'Édimbourg. EntiĂšrement rĂ©novĂ© en 2015, ce grand penthouse propose un hĂ©bergement indĂ©pendant 5 Ă©toiles dans l'une des villes les plus visitĂ©es d'Europe. Tous les espaces communs et les chambres sont gĂ©nĂ©reusement proportionnĂ©s avec de grandes fenĂȘtres qui apportent beaucoup de lumiĂšre donnant un sentiment d'espace et de luminositĂ© tout autour.

Deux des trois chambres ont des lits superking-size et la troisiÚme chambre est un lit king-size à baldaquin fait main spécial. Les salles de bains ont été réalisées en marbre italien, des plans de travail en granit et procurent une sensation de vrai luxe aux sens. La plus grande salle de bain a une baignoire jacuzzi et une douche à l'italienne et la petite salle de bain a une douche à jets puissants dans une enceinte avec un puits de lumiÚre. La qualité des draps et des serviettes correspond à celle de n'importe quel hÎtel cinq étoiles.

La cuisine est grande avec des armoires de cuisine en bois terreux et des surfaces de travail en granit et un rĂ©frigĂ©rateur, un congĂ©lateur, une plaque de cuisson au gaz, un gril, un four, un lave-vaisselle intĂ©grĂ© et une machine Ă  laver et un micro-ondes. C'est un plaisir de passer du temps dans la cuisine pour cuisiner ou regarder par la fenĂȘtre les lumiĂšres scintillantes de Fife Ă  travers la mer la nuit.

La belle salle Ă  manger-dessin avec ses grandes fenĂȘtres et son espace privĂ© est un endroit merveilleux pour se dĂ©tendre, discuter et prendre un repas. Alors que la table Ă  manger peut accueillir 8 personnes, il y a aussi un siĂšge confortable de 4 personnes autour d'une table ronde en acajou dans le hall / la salle de rĂ©ception.

Dans cet appartement, vous vous trouverez dans un endroit plein de caractÚre, entouré de charme d'époque mais décoré avec goût dans un style moderne.

Characterful apartment in great location for Edinburgh si

Weekend stay for a group of 8 friends looking for home comforts within easy access of Edinburgh centre. The steps to the top floor aren’t for the feint-hearted but they’ll keep you fit, and the apartment is worth the climb!Well-appointed and comfortable apartment for sitting, dining and sleeping for 8 adults. 2 showers came in handy to get everyone out of the door at the same time.Recommended for a short stay.

My family and I loved our stay at this large penthouse conveniently located in Edinburgh. We walked to all of the key areas of the city from this property. Also a short walk from the tram / trolly that takes you to and from the airport.

Edinburgh Stay

Our entire family loved our stay. The apartment was close to everything!! We used the train, buses, uber for longer distances but walked all over the city as well. Grocery stores are very close by as well as restaurants, bakery, deli and pubs. In addition the accomodations were wonderful! The beds are comfortable and the entire place very comfortable. Lots of room for everyone.

Amazing light filled apartment in central Edinburgh

This is a lovely apartment in a historic building in central Edinburgh. It was perfect for our extended family, and we could walk to the major sites. There are some very tasty restaurants nearby. The hosts were quickly responsive to questions.

Central City Location

We enjoyed our three night stay at the Hopetoun Grand. We are a family of five adults and the three bedroom setup was very comfortable. The tall ceilings and large windows provided a nice ambience. The bedding and linens were of good quality. The city location is excellent as we walked to all of the sites and restaurants.

Great place to explore Edinburgh

One quick note about this apartment: it’s on the top floor of a winding staircase, so if you have any mobility issues it might not be for you. That said, it’s a beautiful place in a great location! Lots of pubs and restaurants nearby with easy access to the tram and buses to get into the heart of Edinburgh! Charul and Martin do a great job reaching out to make your stay comfortable. Would definitely recommend as a home base to explore Edinburgh!

Just what we needed

This apartment is in a great location of you don't want to be right in the centre of Edinburgh but withing walking distance of everything and plenty of restaurants etc. The only downs are the three flights of stairs of you're less able, the noise from the road in one bedroom due to being on a bus route, and that one of the showers was out of order at the time which I hadn't been made aware of to my knowledge, so showering 8 guests was tricky. The positives are that the kitchen was stocked with lots of essentials and is well equipped for most dishes to be cooked, the beds were clean and comfy and the heating and hot water system is great. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly in this spacious apartment.

Wonderful stay

This stunning apartment was a roomy, comfortable, convenient and fun stay for our family of three children, two parents and two grandparents. There is room for everyone to be together and also room enough for solitude. The furnishings are very comfortable; especially the beds. The apartment is a convenient walk for so many Edinburg attractions, stores, restaurants and pubs. Yes, the stairs were challenging, but they were good for us! Martin is very attentive and easy to get a hold of with any concerns...as a VRBO host myself, I find this to be a crucial quality because anything can be needed at anytime. We truly enjoyed our first visit to Edinburgh and the apartment will be a big part of our fond memories

beautiful Edwardian

Lovely place at the edge of new town within walking distance to everything you would want to see in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. The owners were easy to work with and the place is beautifully restored, with added modern conveniences that blend perfectly with the building. You need to take note of the fact that there are no lifts and the stairs could be challenging to older folks or those with chronic heart or lung problems. Totally worth it for the charm and beauty of the place. It is located close to grocery store, theater and wonderful food places as well. There were three couples that stayed for three nights and thoroughly loved it. Plenty of space to spread out.

Spacious, nicely renovated and well located

Our group of 3 couples loved our 3 night stay. The flat is huge and tastefully renovated/ updated while still preserving the character of this historic property. The location is quite convenient to many of the top tourist attractions and there are plenty of restaurants and pubs close by. If you plan on preparing some of your own meals, Tesco has 2 locations nearby to stock up and a little further afield there is a butcher and fishmonger. Several local bus routes pass by quite close. Guests should know that it is a long climb to the 3rd floor, especially toting luggage. It would probably be a bit much for older folk.

Spacious Family Friendly, Convenient to Transportation

Clean, lots of room, quiet but just off main street with trams and buses. Easy downhill walk from the train station, and close to food and drinks. Must be reasonably fit to manage 72 steps to the third floor but we did it with toddlers and grandparents. Owners responded quickly to a minor issue. Only watch out are the huge old windows that, if opened, would be a safety concern with children. We had cool weather typical for the area and had the windows securely locked. Plenty of kitchen essentials and a nice big table for the whole gang. Loved the historic vibe.

Great location, but an alright stay.

The home is definitely charming and has a lot of character but given the age, it needs a little work. The wooden floorboards had nails coming up, boards that were moving up if you stepped on them, potentially could be unsafe if we stepped on either. The home also smelled of dust and age. The stairway going up to the 3rd floor is narrow, spiral, and dark. The listing failed to mention that the staircase was not fit for someone of age or disability. One of the bedrooms has two small beds with slightly disturbing decor. I understand this is someone’s home, but needs to be updated properly if renting out property to others.

Lovely. Roomy. Well equipped. New bathrooms.

We were uniting with family and we enjoyed the space to share meals and relax together. We recognize that the flat is in midst of renovation however the lack of light in the master bath over the vanity was a little inconvenient as was the inoperable heated floors and towel warmers. Since there is no clothes dryer and the towels took over a day to air dry, an extra bath towel per person would have been appropriate for a week long stay. Thank you for kindly arranging to leave keys for us when we locked ourselves out. Learned our lesson. We would definitely come again.

Superb Location

We have made several trips to Scotland dating back to the early 90's. We previously stayed at a family B&B in Dunbar on each of those trips. The owners retired so we looked for a location in Edinburgh that was within walking distance of Waverly Station. This was the perfect location. The accommodations were excellent in a classic Edinburgh neighborhood. Beds, baths, kitchen, living room were great. An historic apartment setting. I appreciated the owners telling the story of the building, the apartment and the neighborhood down through the years. The owners pride for this apartment yielded a great place for us to stay. We only had one question during our stay to which the owners quickly responded. While we love walking and do a lot of it each day. We did find the Edinburgh tram system is awesome. Easy to catch a block away from the apartment. Plenty of good places to eat in the surrounding blocks. A perfect Edinburgh for our family. Mike

Not Luxury!

Really disappointed with this host and “Luxury Penthouse” we understand the building is 200 years old however the cleanliness is non existent! There was a layer of dust on just about everything. The cookware provided should be thrown out it was beyond old and rusted! Not to mention they leave dirty old sponges for you!? Inside of the cabinets where the cookware is absolutely filthy! There is mold in the showers, one of the shower drains does not drain properly leaving you in standing water. The tile grout in the bathrooms is disgraceful, tiles are cracked and shifting. There is mold everywhere, I sent pictures to the host in hopes I would receive the cleaning fee back and got radio silence! The location is great however know when you walk up those three flights of stairs it’s practically in the pitch dark! There really should be some lights in the hallway that work! It’s an accident waiting to happen! I was really looking forward to this part of our trip and we spent almost 2,000 for three nights to stay in a really dirty, outdated and definitely NOT Luxury penthouse! The description for this penthouse is a straight out lie! The listing pictures are so deceptive!

Pros:*Great Location, it was walking distance to all the things we wanted to see in old town, including great bars and restaurants one block away.*Beds were comfortable-I would say the space is best suited for 3 couples.*The home was clean and charming.**Pro/Con: 3 flight walk up.Cons:*Phone number was not correct on the confirmation email. I had to call VRBO to get connected to the homeowner. (Stress level was very high by this point.)*Key code number was not correct in the email and took almost an hour to get into the Apartment.*Showers stopped draining water, texted the owner via personal number and VRBO messages and did not get confirmation that messages were received.*Unfinished construction projects in a couple rooms and construction materials in the main bathroom.

Were thrilled to find we were able to access Flat at 1.00pm. Spiral staircase is stunning & ok for the fit & healthy, but lugging cases & groceries up & down is hard going. Flat is full of character, spacious & fab location. Homeaway overview & comms provided by owner all state 5 Star luxury in this flat, inc their supply of Linen/towels/toiletries. We were sent a detailed list of basic kitchen consumables and cleaning essentials provided. Although the below items were listed we had very low or no supply of Kitchen & toilet rolls, d/washer tabs, T towels, bin bags, tea bags (owner arranged top ups). ‘Luxury’ Toiletries were dregs of assorted supermarket products (previous guest?) & towels were not ‘plush’ as described, but rough, rigid & scratchy. Hairdryer broken. Flagged up a few maintenance issues 2 owner on day 1, but advised they couldn’t fix for five days. We left after 7 nights & hadn’t heard from owner, so have more things they ought to b aware of. Main bathroom – underfloor heating not working, filthy floor behind the door area, jacuzzi pumping black debris into the water, non slip bath mat perished & full of holes, shower slow to drain. Shower Room – toilet seat in need of repair, toilet brush & plunger plug in sink broken, shower tray not draining, door won’t lock or shut properly. Lounge – two lamps not working, third had loose connection, chandelier constantly flickering, overloaded electric sockets. Kitchen – several bulbs out, fridge temperature either tepid or freezing (literally), coffee machine not fully topped up with beans (as promised), very rattly fan oven, dead plants on window cill, chipped /cracked crockery & mugs, gaping holes behind door, cupboard full of random part used food items ( half of which were out of date or stored in plastic boxes with no labelling. Some of the cereal was BB Apr 2016) The heating is set up for the owner to control wirelessly so it is not possible to control the heating from the apartment other than to boost the heating when the temperature drops. As the thermostat is in the hallway we found the hall area was getting up to temperature & cutting out, but lounge was still chilly. The toilet in main bathroom is ‘saniflow’ style. A repair would cost your full security deposit! Fortunately owners flag up do’s & don’ts b4 your stay. We had an amazing trip & EDI is a fantastic City. The flat was beautiful but in our experience not 5 Star Luxury. Loved the quality of duvets & slept very well.
