Wonderful Stay!We had an amazing time at this property! Everything was exactly as described. The home was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The check-in process was smooth, and the host was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout our visit. The location was perfect, close to everything but still quiet and peaceful. Would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay!
Very welcoming and comfortable. Furniture was very comfortable. Hosted eight family members for Christmas Eve and Day. Had plenty of room and the kitchen was big and easy to work in. Great appliances and plenty of dishes, cooking and baking utensils and pans. Nice deck with a grill that worked great. Will definitely reserve this VRBO again.
This was the 2nd time we've stayed here while visiting family in the area. It's convenient, and so nice to have a fenced yard for our dog. Great to have our own place to spread out in. There is a park a few blocks away that was nice to walk our dog to. Stores, restaurants, etc. are close.
We traveled to the Kansas City area for our son to play a baseball tournament at the Mid-America Sports Complex. The location was great...only about 15 minutes front he fields. The house is exactly as advertised very nice. It is in a nice little neighborhood with some nearby essential commerce (grocery store, Walmart, deporting goods, Starbucks, etc...)
The owner was very communicative and accommodating. They let us borrow their camping chairs for our baseball tournament games. They also quickly resolved an issue that we had while there.
I definitely recommend this place for a small family. Loved it!
Debbie was terrific! Great communication. Quickly lined up snowplow during New Year's snowstorm. The cottage is a perfect layout for a small family or two couples. Kitchen is well stocked and living room is comfortable with nice TV. Clean bathroom with nice shower that doesn't back up the water into the tub! A very high recommend for Kansas City.
The Host advertised as pet friendly. Then things changed, (as the Host admitted in writing a day before). Booking more than 2-months prior I received the Rental Agreement. âNo pets allowed without notification before stay. $__ pet fee will be accessed if not notified.â
Upholding my obligation, I disclosed a small 12-lb dog more than 24-hrs before arrival. Then it began.
A barrage of VRBO chats & repeated calls ensued. The first volley was a surcharge. (Remember the rental agreement?) The Host admitted changing her pet policy after my booking (documented in chat). After I politely pointed to the Agreement, she changed, yet kept a charge. I questioned again, as I fulfilled my duty to disclose. The Host protested, in what felt precariously close to bait-and-switch.
Vulnerable to losing housing, I compromised. The Host acceptedâwith acerbic complaints. All this is on top of a sizeable Host FEE.
It is not acceptable for hosts to pressure guests to pay more than the agreed upon terms & a plain reading of a simple contract.
Also, when staying Tues nights, you must take two trash cans to the curb & notes are plastered everywhere reminding you of garbage duty.
VRBO help line was of no help. Something other than the Rental Agreement apparently governs, yet no one could provide written verification. If you donât have a pet & donât mind handling this Hostâs trash, you may have a better experience. Iâll look elsewhere next time.
We really enjoyed our stay and our dog loved the backyard. The bungalow is cute with plenty of space and close to many things. Would definitely book again when in the Kansas City Area.
We stayed here with our dog for Thanksgiving with family who live nearby. It was perfect for our needs. The house was clean and comfortable, great internet, TV was fine once we figured out how to use ROKU (thanks to our granddaughter) and the fenced yard was large and great for our German shepherd to chase balls and squirrels. We plan to stay here again in May.
When we got there I was afraid it would be loud because house is directly on Main Street but we didnât hear any traffic noises at all. Cute little old house was perfect for our stay visiting family. Good location lots of stores close by.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay and was a great place for our dog to be able to run around in the backyard. We had a breaker trip during our stay and Debbie was over very shortly to fix it. She as well was very responsive to all questions. I would definitely stay again.
We Han a wonderful stay! The property was perfect for our family. The dogs loved the fenced in yard and really appreciated the neighbors chickens. They had plenty of entertainment! The house was close to everything and Debbie was a fantastic hostess! Very friendly and responsive.
What a treat it was to bring our doggies to KS and stay a week in such a well-appointed, beautifully decorated, comfortable home in Merriam. All appliances and fixtures work properly. The neighborhood is busy but safe. The back yard is incredible! We loved watching the chickens next door. Our little dogs had never seen birds that big! We struggled a bit with the TV and WiFi glitching/freezing off and on but not enough to cause a problem. Maybe it was the stormy weather? Thanks Debbie, for the great space to relax and enjoy! We hope to visit again some day!
Host bent over backwards to accommodate my daughter and I. The property was exactly as described. Although we were warned there may be some traffic noise, it was very tolerable. House was comfortable and easy to keep clean. It was well stocked with plenty of towels, extra blankets and even kitchen appliances and utensils. Google Fiber internet and a desk in the attic so working away from home was a breeze. FIVE STARS!
My husband and I like to travel. We spend time in the winter at our Florida condo on the beach and the rest of the time in Shawnee, KS enjoying spending time with our two children and three cute grandsons. My husband likes to golf most of the time except for the days that it gets the better of him. He also likes to play pool with his brother and friends. I spend time working on my website business and geocaching.
My husband and I purchased this home in 2013 to be a regular rental. Since then, we purchased our condo on the beach in Florida and then my mother's house to be a vacation rental. When this little bungalow became available, it wasn't very hard to decide to turn this one into a a vacation rental also. This is the one home, that I wouldn't mind retiring in someday when we downsize. We hope you will like it as much as we do. We love that there is a Farmers Market just down the street (only 1.3 mile away) close enough to walk that is open from May through September but also has plenty of parking. Just across the street is a great hamburger place called Grandstand Hamburgers. And close by is Turkey Creek Streamway Trail. It provides 4 miles of trails that include benches, bicycle & walking, and water fountains. We are very close to University of Kansas Hospital (6 miles) and Advent Health (4 miles)
Everything is on one floor but we also have a large office for guests working from home. Only about a half mile to get on the highway.
Really close to the Merriam Farmer's Market when open during the season. Close to some great walking trails. Closest one is Turkey Creek Streamway Trail which is about 4 miles long. Type of trail is for biking, in-line skating, wheelchair accessible and walking.
