We stayed at Big Sky to be near a family wedding at a nearby venue and to enjoy Thanksgiving in the mountains. We had a perfect visit. Yes, the house is a bit dated, but we loved it! The home felt like we were staying with interesting relatives. We had plenty of space, a new huge TV for football, the ability to roast a turkey, and warm many casseroles in the kitchen with 2 ovens and warming drawer. The views were amazing. Neighbors were friendly. We spent a few great evenings at the Pineola TapRoom. We didn't notice any odors and had hot water (from other reviews). I hope we can return because the house worked extremely well and it's a great location.
Itâs clear an history in itself that needs more care
The house was in a serene place however few things clearly needs bit extra care. On safety or feel secure factor . Many door had no locks . Basement had lot of insects specially kids area with spiders and small creatures. The most lovable space is front hall and the deck it was all lite up and so peaceful in early morning and evening. Main floor bedroom and one at upstairs soon from stairs look bright and nice . The other bedroom on upstairs and both basement ones looked bit off . Mattress are definitely to be replaced . Couldnât sleep well specially in bunk bed and the up in upstair above the kitchen some creepy noise at night . Which was exhausting. Love the kitchen which gives enough sunlight and the deck on west with super nice breeze .. just loved that. The basement level outside literally needs some clearing specially with kids.
A good mattress end of day shall give good sleep which needs to be considered thatâs not noisy . Thanks to the host .
My family and I flew in from Florida for a quick ski weekend This home ia in a great location to sugar and beech mountain. It is very well maintained and is exactly as shown. We will be happy to stay here again when in the area.
All was excellent & prop mgr was lovely. Suggestion: bring some ice melt & laundry soap. House is very well stocked tho. Extremely comfy. Loved the fireplace & liv rm ceiling. Oh! & deck w fantastic views!!!!!
Very cozy as-advertised home that has a very cabin-like feel. Unfortunately it was rainy and windy most of our trip, but we did the best we can to enjoy the most out of the house while we stayed in it.
My family was very happy with the available amenities, especially in the kitchen. Very large garage that we utilized to park a vehicle in to load and unload when raining, so this was a huge plus. The house certainly does have a beautiful view off the back deck that we were at least able to enjoy a few times. Nice cleared area of the yard too which was great to let the kids play in while we watched them from the deck.
There were a few minor hiccups in the house, but nothing major to write about, but as mentioned, the house was as-advertised. Overall it's a great place to stay that is conveniently located, has that cabin feel, and a great view. Great communication with the host too.
Looking forward to staying again sometime in the future!
This home was exactly what we expected and what was shown in the photos. Dated and a little worn, but comfortable and very clean. Communication was great and we loved the quiet, peaceful location. Stargazing, daily deer in the meadow and dinners on the porch were wonderful. The only issue we had was a very slow wifi connection. It would be fine for casual use, but not good for working remotely.
We had such a wonderful time with family at this property. We had everything we needed including an incredible view and snow. Absolutely memorable. Thank you Kristin for all your care during our stay!
So much room for our large group and room for the dogs too! Well equipped kitchen, large TV's comfortable seating and gorgeous easy to use gas fireplace. Close to everything and easily accessible by car. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Entry to the house was easy. The house was nice & big for our party of 8. The beds were nice, the kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans and useful kitchen gadgets.
Upstairs bathroom had very little hot water. The main floor bathrooms were fine. The downstairs bathroom needs work on the shower and had very little hot water.
The decor was outdated but comfortable.
The smell when we got to the house not pleasant.. The mildew smell from the basement area reeked and only a couple were brave enough to sleep downstairs. It smelled the main floor, as well.
Probably the carpet needs to be pulled up.
However, it still was a great space, beautiful setting, the deck was beautiful, and the house was so large we had plenty of room.
This was the perfect location and perfect property for our family get away. Host communication was perfect. My family all aaid they'd love to come back. We all enjoyed the home feeling of the place.
Thank you for making my first VRBO experience a great one
Lovely comfortable home perched on a hill. Six adults fit nicely in this house with plenty of bathrooms for all. Only issue is using both basement level bedrooms as bunk bed room occupant has to walk through the twin bed room to get there. Plenty of pots, pans, plates and cutlery for a large group. Thanks for a comfortable place to relax after long days at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.
