Jimmy and Rhonda (hosts) were delightful! We very much enjoyed learning about their heritage and family. It was such a treat to enjoy the elk nearby and listen to them bugle! We were in Antonito to ride the Cumbres and Toltec train and this was the perfect place to stay! The river is nearby and the evening walks were lovely.
Our two-night stay was mostly wonderful. Rhonda made the check-in process very easy. The cabin is located in a beautiful setting and the elk on the ranch are awesome. The cabin is clean and mostly comfortable. As a small business owner for 29 years, the suggestions I would make are to replace the mattress in one of the downstairs bedrooms as it was so uncomfortable (hard!) that we were unable to sleep more than a couple of hours the first night. The second night, my spouse and I moved upstairs to the loft to sleep on a more comfortable mattress. I'd also replace the bathroom towels as the current towels are extremely old and worn. In fact, I owned the exact same blue towel with white trim more than 25 years ago! Thirdly, I'd update the sheets and pillows when possible. Quality bedding can make such a difference when it comes to a good night's sleep. I would add a few more "butter" knives to the kitchen drawer as we only located one. Switching the refrigerator door to open the opposite way would make it more convenient to use. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would love to stay in the cabin again when in the area!
Both the log cabin and the hosts are great. The property is listed as a two-bedroom rental. However, in addition to the two downstairs bedrooms, there are three additional beds in the loft area. The home is equipped with everything you might need for an enjoyable stay. Also, if you're a fisherman and willing to pay a very reasonable rod fee, you have a realistic chance of catching the largest rainbow trout of your life. Trust me!!
Excellent all around experience. Jimmy and Rhonda are super host. You won't regret your stay here!
The fishing was top notch. The cabin was clean and perfect for what we needed. This was our second stay at the cabin and we will definitely be back. Thanks again Jimmy and Rhonda. See you next year.
The property is clean, has all the amenities that are advertised, good kitchen supplies, and good heating and cooling. There are five beds and two full bathrooms. The mattresses could be softer for my liking on three beds. The beach is nice, the elk are fun to look at and there is a firepit. Fishing is $80 per day.
Location was amazing!! Right on the river surrounded by wildlife. We had a very relaxing time and loved meeting the owners and their dog CoCo. We will be back!!
Our family enjoyed the days we stayed here. The propery was perfect for walks and enjoying the river. The owners were great attentive and let us share quality time with Coco (thier dog).
The hosts, Jim and Rhonda, were always available and genuinely anxious to be helpful. The cabin was exceptional, spacious, well equipped and located in an isolated yet convenient part of the property. We will certainly return whenever possible.
