This location was wonderful! It was three of us and it was perfect. Communication was ray and the fenced in yard and pool were the icing on the cake! Would stay here again. Highly recommend.
The house was great! Had one small issue with the pool but Jenna was extremely responsive and got it fixed quickly! Would highly recommend and plan on staying here in the future!
House was close to the beach and close to the restaurants on the island. Check in process was extremely easy and the house was clean upon arrival. The neighborhood was quiet and we had a great stay. Would highly recommend this property!
House was well stocked and clean. Beds were super comfy. And pool was added bonus! Loved how close it was to the beach and we enjoyed playing all the board games. They had quite a selection!
It was a pleasure to stay in this clean, well appointed home. Everything we needed was provided: coffee pods, extra towels, washer and dryer, Netflix, and sand toys.
Staying here was so comfortable, like being in our own home minus the clutter. We were able to bring our dog, participate in a wedding weekend, and visit a number of different beaches during our stay. Though there are many choices on the island, we look forward to staying here again.
This home is exactly what we needed. Very accurately described. Clean and beautiful. Most importantly close to the beach. The kitchen has everything you need. Pool was great also. Our dog loved the fenced-in backyard. Not one bad thing to say.
Beach house was perfect for our fall weekend stay. Home is conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood. Fenced in yard was nice for the pups. There is a Publix and several restaurants close by. Really appreciated the small details like: bath soap, coffee pods/sugar, etc. Easy check in/out. Very Clean. Owner was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again!
We decided on a last minute beach trip and wanted to bring our furry family member and this cute place was available! The house was the perfect size for 5 people and a pet. Great, quiet neighborhood for walking & biking. Was a short, easy walk to the beach. The pool was a fabulous addition and perfect way to end a long day at the beach. Kitchen had everything we needed...loved the countertop ice maker! And the doggie door!
This was a great place to kick off our summer season! Would definitely book again! Thank you!
The house was everything we wanted and could have needed! All was as described in the listing and the amenities were more than what we had anticipated. The pool was great and our first night were surprised at how beautifully the backyard and pool were lit up. After accidently locking ourselves out, our host and co-host provided immediate response and were at the property within the half hour to get us back in. The neighborhood is clean and quiet and I love how the back yard backs up to a wooded area. The linen service was surprisingly excellent...the towels were exceptionally soft and plush. The kitchen was fully functional with pots/pans, plates, coffee maker, small cooking appliances, etc. The AC was consistent and sufficient in keeping the house cool during the week of our stay when outside temps were hitting 100+. Being our first time on Oak Island, we loved the area and selecting this home for our stay really just made it all the more special to spend time with family. Thank you!!
Property is very well presented in the listing. The only surprise was the access to the back yard, which is through the Master bedroom. Made sleeping in tough! LOL. We were also having a hard time with TV access, but the property manager Mariah was amazing!! She came by and sat with us, gave us a tutorial and then the "year-round resident" view of local eateries, etc. We tried several of her suggestions and loved them. Neighbors are very friendly. We had a play date with neighbors german shepard pup and told of a dog park on the way to Southport that was awesome. This is our second year in the neighborhood and love how easy it is bike, quiet and friendly!. We used Mr. Beach bike rentals and they drop off and pick up right to the driveway. I walked to the beach with the dog. We stayed three weeks in February .
Had a great few days at this property. Well appointed kitchen, lovely pool, comfy furniture, great water pressure. Ideal location, was able to walk to so many places using quiet back roads, including the beach. Would happily stay here again.
We had a great week! The fenced-in yard was wonderful for our fur-babies in addition to not having to worry about carpet. Also, we rented a golf cart and made it to the beach each day in a jiffy! The owner spoke with us by phone to answer questions about the TV and was so nice. We loved our stay!!
We had an amazing time! The house is perfect, the beds are incredibly comfortable, the neighborhood was friendly and very quiet. You can walk to the beach, the inter coastal waterway, and thereâs a great local restaurant for breakfast right up the street. The beach was pretty and wide. We had fun surf fishing.
Our dog loved the fenced in yard and his own doggy door. We loved morning coffee and hanging with our dog on the back patio. The kitchen had everything we needed. The neighborhood would be great for riding bicycles (Iâll take those next time!)
Nancy is available for any concerns, but we never had to ask her anything because all the answers are in a nice three ring notebook on the kitchen cabinet.
We will definitely go back! Wonderful place!!
Spent 3 nights there with a friend but wish weâd spent all week. House is very clean, appliances seem new, and the mattresses were so comfy after a day fishing and kayaking. Wish my dog had been there because the fenced yard is huge and the back door is accessed from the main bedroom and has a large dog door. We kayaked the ICW which is a 2 minute drive, and fished the Yaupon Pier which is a 5 minute drive. My favorite âextraâ was the countertop ice maker! We will definitely stay here again.
We spent the month of February at this property, We purchased a home in Oak Island and stayed at this property for the month waiting for the closing and getting organized for the move. I highly recommend staying at this property. Nancy was wonderful to work with and communication was excellent. The house was clean, comfy and stocked with all that we needed. Itâs extremely pet friendly including a lovely dog door that my dog learned how to use and enjoyed going out into the fenced in yard. We noticed in the garage there is a plentiful supply of beach toys and items. The neighborhood is quiet and we enjoyed meeting the neighbors. The location is close to beach access and to the grocery store. We even booked a return week long visit in March. Thank you Nancy for your hospitality.
Everything you would need was available at the rental. The assortment of dishes was excellent. I will stay there again if I plan to return to Oak Island.
This is such a great house for a trip to Oak Island. We loved the fenced in back yard, the fact that it's pet friendly, and the outdoor shower for getting rinsed off after a day at the beach.
Inside, there's plenty of space in the three bedrooms, lots of games for the whole family in the living room and good space for working in the kitchen. The owner, Nancy, was extremely responsive and helped us work through the one hiccup we had upon arrival.
The location is good, only a couple blocks walk down to the beach (or a very short drive to several different beach access areas). Also a very short drive to grocery stores, restaurants, ice cream shops, etc.
Overall, I highly recommend!
Wow! First, before I get into how great our stay was and how much we loved the house; let me take a moment to talk about our host, Nancy Chapman. Nancy was absolutely incredible from the moment we got to Oak Island to the day that we left. She was so incredibly accommodating - she made sure everything was in perfect working order, she provided us with excellent recommendations and checked on us throughout the week to make sure we were having a great time and to see if we needed anything.
Now, back to the house. This was our first year coming to Oak Island and I know we will be back. The house is within a neighborhood with a mix of older houses that look like they were built in the 60's/70's/80's and much newer houses that are built raised up one story to protect from flooding and storm surge. Our house was one that was built in an earlier time and had been there for many, many years. It really is a great little beach house that is two blocks from the center of town. You are 5 blocks from Publix, 4 blocks from the beach access and 2 blocks from Dairy Queen. If you can rent a golf cart from somewhere, that would be a great addition to getting around, but a car is fine too.
The back yard was really spacious for our dog and she loved it. It was also great to have a gas grill with a full propane tank. It made grilling outdoor a snap and something we could do very quickly. That helped maximize our time at the beach as we didn't have to come home early to get the charcoal going 30-45 minutes in advance.
The last thing I will say has nothing to do with the house at all. Do yourself a favor and look up Quicksand Beach Concierge. Best money we spent all vacation. They set up your entire beach set up every day at 8AM and then they take it back down around 5:30 - 6 PM.
House was great and very clean. Nice to have a fenced yard for dog. Nancy was very friendly and helpful! Would be even better if house came with use of golf cart to get to beach. However, beach, restraints and stores all within walking distance just hard to get across main road when walking.
The Crab Shack is centrally located near the middle of Oak Island in a quiet, comfortable neighborhood. We are just minutes from the beach, the Intercoastal Waterway, restaurants, stores and ice cream shops.
Getting around on Oak Island is easy. In addition to traditional vehicles, we find that our guests enjoy walking, biking, or even renting an E-Bike or golf cart. (please keep in mind that golf cart drivers and passengers must follow the same rules of the road as cars, and are not allowed on streets with a speed limit greater than 35 mph).
Whatever your mode of transportation, you'll find you are greeted everywhere you go by a smile or a friendly wave.
