It is a great cozy place. Close enough to everything to Salt Lake, the only reason I gave them 4 stars, there is a train that would bother if you are a light sleeper. Very clean and comfortable little home.
website was accurate... location was sketchy. We had one roll of toilet paper for 4 nights. Empty soap container in bathroom.. shampoo smelled fabulous! There were a couple of pros but far many cons. Price was high for what we got. Washer and dryer were nice. Plenty of detergent. One dishwasher soap pod. So plan on bringing your own toiletries. Host was kind and accommodating. Train track is right across the street, so little sleep.. Yard was full of weeds. Host is remodeling this very old house, so bathroom and kitchen are up to date. Bedrooms will take you back to the 1930's. I do have photos but unable to submit, for some reason.
Stayed here for a few days for work, the AC had a small issue but owner was very responsive came over and had it fixed very quickly would definitely recommend staying here
The property was in a great location and very private with some nice views of the mountains with trees in the yard. Lots of parking. The beds were comfortable, and the modern thermostat kept us cozy. I enjoyed watching the trains go by across the street and they are quiet and not all disturbing. I would stay here again.
It is as the listing shows. Seems newly renovated and fairly clean. Location is nothing special and need a car to get anywhere. Functional and reasonably priced for a stay in the salt lake area.
It was clean and looked nice. Not a lot of outlandish rules. There were a few things that were off putting about the property. One is the train that goes by and shakes the house. The other is the lack of water pressure in the shower and that the hot water is a little more than a trickle. The shower is barely luke warm. Other than that, it was ok.
This house has everything you need for a stay of a few nights near SLC. Beds are comfortable, kitchen is well equipped, living room has plenty of seating, and the way the house is decorated makes you feel welcome and at home. The owner is also very agreeable and flexible, and doesnât expect too much of you at checkout. My only complaint (and itâs a small one) is the sounds of the train passing across the street. If you are a light sleeper, they might keep you up at night. But this problem is easily fixed with some ear plugs and/or a white noise app on your phone. The location, comfort, and price of this property outweighs any drawbacks of the location. If you have business in SLC at the convention center or elsewhere, this property will suit your needs just fine.
On arrival, the code would not unlock the front door. We called the owner and he was in his way over to check if it needed new batteries, but then we realized that the directions in the app were set to his other property address next door. Once inside, we were disappointed that the dishwashing liquid, bath lotion, shampoo, and laundry soap were all almost empty. There were no dishwasher tablets provided, only 3/4 of one roll of toilet paper, kitchen sponges that had been previously used, etc. We booked a one week stay so this seemed pretty skimpy. The sheets on the bed appeared unwashed, so we washed them before sleeping on them. The flatware drawer had one spoon and three forks (not ideal for a place that sleeps four people.) It would have been nice to have a clean washcloth for washing dishes, and washcloths to use in the shower. (There were 6 nice bath towels, 1 hand towel, and 1 kitchen towel provided.) Trains do come through across the street several times during the night. This was stated in the listing, but just know that you will notice. Itâs an old home, and in relatively good condition but itâs pretty bare bones. We couldnât find any childrenâs books or games that were mentioned in the listing, and the decor is minimal. The heat works well, but the hot water in the shower has low pressure and is only lukewarmâstrange because the sinks get nice hot water at full pressure. It was not particularly comfortable or welcoming, so we would not choose to stay here again.
I stayed in this home for two full weeks. The cottage/house was quaint. I enjoyed having a washer and dryer (although, differing from a previous review--there were no laundry supplies).
Just a couple of notes: the yard is overgrown--no grass, just weeds and rocks. I found it somewhat difficult to communicate with the owner/manager. Although he did advise me ahead of time that he would 'be away from reception' for part of my stay, he didn't indicate which days, nor did he leave an alternate point of contact in case I had any questions. I did have a question - and it took him ~4 days to get back to me. I ended up just buying stuff myself (trash bags).
The train tracks are right in front of the house, across the little street, with nothing between the house and the tracks. However, I will say that it didn't bother me at all (no horns or anything like that).
Overall - I liked the quiet of the street and being 'tucked away' somewhat. There are a few suggestions that I would make to the owner (bath washrags, bathroom floor mat (I had to use one of the four towels that were left), leave more than two rolls of toilet paper for a two week stay, etc.)
It is a perfect cottage for my husband & 2 boys under the age of 5. Good price for our 3 night stay :) Beds weâre so comfortable! Having access to a washer & dryer came in handy 100%
Laundry pods were provided so I was able to wash our clothes and wash towels and linens we used . I would highly recommend this cute cottage for a couple or family of 4 đđ»
I got to stay at the Murray Cottage for 3 months, so this little place really became home. I really like the spacious open home with a lot of natural light. The back deck was a really lovely feature especially in the late summer months. I spent a lot of time out there with a little folding chair that I picked up from REI. Bill was a great host. I reached out to him just a few times and he was very responsive. The neighborhood is not the most "walkable," but it is a REALLY convienient location in terms of getting around town. I hope that I have the opportunity to stay here again in the future.
Born and raised nearby in East Sandy Utah! A husband and father âfamily-manâ. I am a enthusiastic person passionate about real estate! I enjoy art, entrepreneurial ideas, staying fit, and the outdoors!
As a host I try to provide a safe, clean environment. At home and while traveling I value nice bedding for good relaxation and a good shower! I believe these essentials will be reflected in this home! Effort was made for the home furnishings and decor to be mid-centry modern.
You have the entire home to yourself! Other than being central to the City & Mountains the Cottage has mature trees, recently updated with a new Hansgrohe shower fixture & enclosure, granite countertops, an adjustable standing desk, and a front loading Washer & Dryer! The decor starts with the main living area reclaimed wood style LVT floor, updated double payne windows with 1 inch blinds for privacy. The bedrooms are furnished with neutral carpet and paint. Beds are comfortable memory foam.
