The cabin was clean, had plenty of supplies (bedding, towels, etc.), and the property was beautiful. We really appreciated the use of the watercraft. Andy was a great host, and super easy to get ahold of. Overall we had a wonderful stay.
We were expecting 2 bathrooms and 4 total beds. Only had one double bed and 2 twins. Lucky there were 2 fold out couches. We packed our chairs to use so didnât use the ones supplied but there was plenty seating available. Loved the wrap around porch!
Had fun time staying there. Just has lots of lady bugs and box elder bugs there, but as long as your not scared to of lady bugs . Its beautiful and fun kayaks and canoes to use..i would go agsin some day.
Perfect cabin for a weekend stay or week long stay! All the amenities for a quiet stay & away from every day technology. Within 15-20 minutes to small, quaint towns including grocery, restaurants and small town shopping. Communication with host was convenient and very responsive. Thank you, weâll be sure to recommend and be back!
We enjoyed the property and all the outdoor activities, the water was beautiful and a perfect temperature. Our twin 4 year olds loved the loft area and jetted tub in the bathroom.
Beautiful cabin and amazing porch for morning coffee in a rocking chair!
Cabin was super clean with an AMAZING jet tub for relaxing.
Close to Backbone State Park and fun shopping in Elkader.
Thanks Andy for the lovely week!
Great cabin, very peaceful. The only thing keeping this from full 5 stars is in the listing, there is nothing noting that this is in a campground. Luckily, it wasnât busy so the stay was peaceful.
The property was very clean and we had the entire property to ourselves. Owner was very nice and helpful and quick to respond. I would visit this property again.
We picked this property for a relaxing sisters weekend! The cabin was what we expected, clean and cute. The teenagers loved the small lake and the kayaks and canoes provided, host was super friendly and nice. A great weekend of unplugging and spending time together.
Really enjoyed brining my family to this cabin for a nice get away. Wadena is a nice remote town. We felt very secure and away from everyone. The cabin was perfect for what we were looking for. Great tub, shower, stairs to the pond, fire pit...everything you need. Would gladly book again!
Beautiful and peaceful area. Cozy get away and all enjoyed fishing and family time. I didn't see that no blankets are provided so make sure you bring a top blanket otherwise will be sleeping with just sheets.
We enjoyed our recent stay at this cabin. Itâs location is great for a relaxing and peaceful getaway. Close proximity to Elkader if you are looking for some great shopping and also close to Pikes Peak and Backbone State Park if you want options for a day trip. Andy is great to work with and quickly replies to any questions or needs.
This was an amazing trip, and the property was exactly as described. The cabin has a very cool wrap around porch. Andy was super nice and accommodating while 100% non-invasive. We used the canoe and caught a few fish. It was a short drive to WI where we were able to do some more fishing at Bloody Run. Beautiful scenery everywhere in this part of the state. We even brought a tv because there isnât one at the cabin (while we were there, which was clear in the description), and didnât even bring it inside. Weâll definitely be back!
This was my familyâs second stay at this cabin. We love that it is on a private pond/lake, itâs quiet and relaxing. The kayaks are right there to use freely any time and my boys enjoy the catch & release fishing too.
The cabin isnât too far from Backbone State Park & Volga Lake. These are great places to hike and fish.
Check-in was easy and Andy was readily available to answer any questions. He even took a couple of our suggestions we gave after our stay last year, and incorporated them into the property.
The beds were comfy enough and the cabin was just right for our family of four.
The only thing I didnât much care for was the few people on golf carts who cut through our drive to get to the campgrounds beyond the lake. Otherwise we never heard the campers or saw them. We actually kind of liked that we were completely isolated.
We look forward to our next stay!
My family and I were so excited for our time away at the âPeaceful, Lake View Cabin.â We booked our stay from August 22-26. When we arrived, the owner was there and was not masked. We were expecting a âno in personâ check-in due to COVID-19. After the owner left, we settled in and learned that the kitchen was not fully stocked as advertised. The cabin was at the entrance to a trailer park so it was not private at all. The beds were terribly uncomfortable, many of the electrical outlets did not work and the bathroom floor and tub were littered with bugs. We told the owner about the outlets but he was unable to fix them and we did not want an electrician intruding on our time. The owner never acknowledged our request for a solution to the incredibly uncomfortable beds. Amazingly, when we told the owner that we were leaving two days early, he was very indifferent to the idea that we may be leaving because we were unhappy. He wrote, â Oh OK, I'm sorry you had to leave early. I hope you enjoyed your stay. If not i apologize. I ask people for a review if they had a good time and to accentuate the positives. But I know it doesn't always work out and in that situation I also ask that people not leave me a bad review. But thank you very much for staying and supporting a local small business. Best wishes.âIt was his responsibility to make sure our stay was everything we hoped for. It is our responsibility to you to make sure you donât only hear about the positives.
This cabin was a beautiful little place out in the country, away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It made for a great chance for my family and I to get away from everyday life and just relax. Having access to the water made for some great memories for my niece. And my parents also especially enjoyed having such a nice sized deck/porch to laze around on. The owner was very polite and answered all my questions. Would absolutely stay here again!
Amazing little hidden gem in NE Iowa! Cabin was cozy, and inviting. Located close to Volga River, West Union and Fayette. Andy is a great host and made sure we had everything we might need. Highly recommend!
