Short Stay

Small, very basic. We arrived a bit early and Property was not ready for us - eventually manager came to make beds and tidy up after check-in time. There is no beach but nice views. Furnishings and fixtures are pretty dated and cottage could use a little TLC. Overall fine but we will not likely choose this property again.

Beautiful and Peaceful

Comfortable house with great porch view of the ocean. Alicia was most informative and responsive to questions, and helped make our arrival and stay smooth and comfortable. A suggestion: having a standing fan on the back porch would greatly help on hot days with no wind to not only stay cool but also blow the obnoxious flies away.

Great Trip!

Perfect place for a secluded, romantic getaway! My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and had a wonderful, relaxing time! Hanging out in the yard/porch and staring out into the ocean was just what we needed! Be sure to check out Sandbar across the street! It’s a great little place on the water!

Easter weekend turned vacation

My favorite part was star gazing whilst listening to the waves lapping and taking in the fresh sea breeze at night! Quiet, set back and so peaceful, just what we all needed! Everything was great, owner and property manager where very responsive and helpful! Would definitely stay again! Thank you so much for sharing!

Great Getaway

We had a great relaxing 10 day stay. Thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and relaxing atmosphere of this home and the islands. Originally booked for 7 days and extended our stay to 10 as we found it hard to leave this paradise. Alicia was very responsive and great to work with.

7 Days in Paradise

The view from the property was absolutely incredible—definitely one of the highlights of the stay. The beach is coral rather than sand, so water shoes are a must, but that also means the snorkeling is amazing, with plenty of fish and marine life to see just steps from the shore.The house itself had a great tropical vibe and was very clean and well-maintained. It felt secluded and peaceful, thanks to the surrounding trees and vegetation (which also helped block the ocean winds), but everything in town was just a short golf cart ride away—super convenient.The host was great—very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. The beds were a little firm for our taste, but the house came well-stocked with kitchen essentials, towels, linens, and even games, which was a nice touch.

Wonderful property a perfect place to get away. Super quiet area….peaceful….looking out at the ocean from the back and the living room. Great restaurant/bar across the road which made it even better. All of our questions were answered so quickly! Can’t recommend enough!

What a perfect place to relax! We took kayaks out and found a secret beach.The sunsets are beautiful! close to Sandbar Beach Bar perfect for lunch & dinner. Candida was so helpful with all of our questions!!

Sand star on Russel Island

We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very nice. The view is gorgeous! Beautiful turquoise ocean! Not good snorkeling from the shore of the property as we had hoped. We took two excursions and enjoyed them. You definitely need a golf cart or car to get around.

Absolutely Beautiful

My wife and I stayed at Sand Star for 2 weeks and it was great. The property is very clean and has a beautiful view. Snorkelling was great right off the back yard. Candida was great to work with, and she respond immediately to every question and request. We will return.

A little slice of heaven!

We loved our visit. Alicia was very helpful in preparing for our trip, helping with airport transfer, golf cart rental, and food and activity recommendations. The house is just what we needed- the view is incredible, with a private and quiet property. The kitchen and house was well stocked with supplies. It was a beautiful 10 minute cart ride to downtown Spanish Wells and 5 minutes to stunning practically empty beaches. The restaurant across the street was super convenient too. We suggest visiting Papa Scoops, Shipyard, breakfast at Eagle's Landing, Buddha's, and following the local Facebook page as that's the best source of info for goings on on the island. Thank you for a terrific getaway!

Fantastic house

The house was great, very clean and nice. Kitchen has everything you need and also the bbq was perfect. Outside veranda is fantastic to have meal because there is always a light breeze. The access to the sea is not easy forcthe kids but there is a nice beach just opposite to the road they could go by themself.

Great Stay

After my flight was canceled, the host for this property was able to accommodate me and my family. We greatly appreciate her quick responses (even through the Wi-Fi issues). We loved the location and enjoyed the gorgeous views. The house has everything you need to cook meals with plenty of towels and comfort. The only negative was the water pressure for the shower, not a deal breaker - just preference. The walk to the water is rocky, so you need sturdy water shoes. I was thankful to be able to spend a few days in this lovely location.

A dream come true

I love the sound of the ocean. This place provided the soothing sounds of the waves breaking all night. If it weren't so far, and complicated I would go again for sure. My only disappointment is that I didn't look closely at the pictures of the coast line. It is not made of sand, but rather fossilized coral as is so much of the Caribbean near Florida. But it was a good thing that I had some very sturdy water shoes. I went into the water with them. Also very close by there is a very nice sandy beach. I highly recommend going.

Lovely Island - Great Communication

Such a lovely island and villa was great. Candida, the project manager was brilliant. We missed our connecting flight and was delayed by a day and Candida kept in contact by WhatsApp and re-scheduled all of our taxi, ferry and gold cart hire and short notice. The villa was lovely and private and had everything needed - even air con in each bedroom. For the days that were stormy we had access to the villa Netflix and Disney plus and board games etc. When the weather was good, we were out in the garden, swimming in the sea and waling on the public beach. The kitchen has everything needed and the Food Fair supermarket was so well stocked. The Sand bar is literally a 2min walk across the road and the food was lovely. Was so good having the washer and dryer there so we didn't need to pack a lot and there were more than enough towels for beach and showers etc.

Anniversary in the Bahamas

We arrived in ELH airport, got on the shuttle to take us to the Spanish Wells dock, no problem. After we got off the ferry in Spanish Wells, our property manager was NOT there to meet us as was planned. The driver called Candida, and she came after a short wait. We rented a golf cart at Harborside and then followed her to the property. The property was clean and as advertised. The property itself is not very wide, maybe 50 ft. There are houses on either side of the property, but they were vacant for all of our stay. If there were people there, I am sure it would not have been that quiet. That being said, we had a very quiet and private stay. Probably the biggest disappointment was the water access. Make sure you have some water shoes to use the kayaks or paddleboard. The shore was all rough coral with no sand. Actually, almost all of Russell Island has a very rough coral shore. If you want a sandy beach, you had to go over to SW. It was fun exploring both Russell Island and Spanish Wells with the golf cart. We found a couple of hidden jems, Jays conch shack on Russell Island had some tremendous conch salad, Bernards fish dock on SW we bought some tremendous FRESH lobster tails (that Bernard cut up for us while we waited) that we brought back to the house and cooked on the grill. We ate at several of the restaurants on SW, Wreckers and the Shipyard were good. We also went to the Sandbar almost across the street from the house on Russell Island. All in all, we had a good stay. Make sure you bring plenty of $$ as everything is more expensive there, even at the larger grocery store on SW.

A Peaceful Getaway

Communication - The property owner and manager were both very easy to communicate with throughout the entire process. Any questions I had were quickly answered and Candida is a great and knowledgeable property manager. Arrival - Pick up from the airport to the ferry and meeting at the dock upon landing on Spanish Wells was a breeze. Don't forget to pull out some cash before you arrive though and check the prices (which have been pretty much the same for years) before you arrive so you're ready for the taxi from the airport and the ferry across. Candida was there to greet us and show us to the property. Had I shared the name the golf cart was rented under, it would have been there waiting too. Property Grounds - Set back from the road but also in a very lightly trafficked area, it's a quiet stay. The grounds are very well kept and clean with security lights should you feel you need some extra comfort at night (Russel Island though felt extremely safe the entire time). Back patio area was very comfortable with plenty of cushioned seating, grass is well maintained and super soft to walk on barefoot. A couple of steps down and you are in the water with personal kayaks, stand up paddleboard and more should you just want to stay there and play. Everything outside was super clean and comfortable. Inside the home - the same great care given outside is there inside too. Everything was spotless which helps you feel right at home and ease after traveling to get there. Had the weather not been perfect, lots to keep you entertained if you have to stay in for the day from great wifi, plenty of TV/Movie watching options, to some games and reading too. Kitchen area has more than enough for you with a full-sized fridge, enough appliances and kitchenware for everything from a simple morning coffee to cooking up a full family feast. Climate control was excellent in each room, comfortable beds, plenty of bedding too. One thing I finally figured out on the last night (of course) is that you can turn off the light on the AC that shows you the temperature it's at which makes sleeping more comfortable. In the bathroom you have a full washer and dryer, so you don't feel like you have to pack clothes for every single day of your trip. The shower had great water pressure too which is important to me. While traveling around the island is easy, you also have a great restaurant, The Sandbar, a two-minute walk away. Book this place now, you won't regret it.

I live in British Columbia, Canada. I spent holidays visiting Eleuthera and lived there for 3 years before moving to Canada. I always look forward to going back to the islands. The ocean is clear, beautiful, and warm during the summer. I love scuba diving and snorkeling; amazing ways to connect with sea-life because the waters are so clear. The seafood is fresh and tasty, and people love to have a good time. Christmas time in the islands is special because its a time for family and friends to be together.
I love to travel and have also lived in the Bahamas, US and Guyana.

I enjoy the quiet life that Spanish Wells/Russel Island, Eleuthera has to offer. People are friendly, personable and helpful. It is so safe that people leave their keys in the car. The house is great because the cool breeze rolling off the ocean lulls you to relax. You can sit on the porch and watch the cruise ships pass by.
A five minute walk takes you to a popular restaurant with its own beach.

I immediately fell in love with the amazing view of the ocean which you can enjoy inside and outside. You can watch the sunset, and the various ships that occasionally pass by as they travel the Atlantic Ocean. The house is nestled in a mature garden with a lawn that leads to the beach. There are neighbours on either side but it’s so quiet and cozy you would not notice. The house is spacious with most amenities to keep you comfortable and connected to the world, if necessary. There are kayaks and paddle boards for your ocean exercise or to just enjoy on the water. Indoor and outdoor games and books for all ages.
