Ritz Carlton level service in a one of a kind property
Iâm not joking. I have stayed at 5 star resorts all over the world and can honestly say that the hospitality and level of service that we received were truly world class. Not just as in a great check in and check out experience, but as in go above and beyond to make sure that every single aspect of our vacation was perfect. Truly a stunning experience. As for the property, we have been traveling to Traverse City for over 15 years, and Iâve yet to see a more ideal location to spend a week up there. Nothing short of amazing.
Property and lake were gorgeous. We loved how big the actual property was. It gave our dogs plenty of room to roam and explore. The lake was also crystal clear and huge. Yes there is a public boat launch at the end of road but the property had plenty of privacy so it was never an issue. Our family will definitely go back if it's still available đ The host was great to work with and Joe was more than helpful and very knowledgeable of the area!
My family (3 boys 18-24 and my wife and myself) stayed here during the last week of June. Will and Diana were excellent hosts that were knowledgeable and very helpful. Cottage was plenty big for us and it was clean and recently renovated. There is a lot of space around the cabin for family yard games and hanging out. The cottage faces the west and is blessed with wonderful sunsets. Location is excellent with Traverse City 15 mins to the South and Leeland and Sutton Bay also an easy 15 min drive. AC worked fine and I'd rec'd bringing a pull over or blanket of two. The Lake is absolutely beautiful and plenty big enough to find your own private space. In total, this was time well spent
Deceiving Listing but we made the best of our week
Listing included things like: floating dock for swimming, hot tub, private beach and dock. Reality: Floating dock was not in the water, there was no hot tub and we shared the beach and dock with another rented out house on the property.
We also rented out the boat for the week but were not allowed to keep it on the dock. It had to be connected to a buoy. Not a big deal but the buoy was in five and a half feet of water. You literally had to swim in and out everyday to get the boat. Not the easiest task and kind of annoying. If you you were older, or not as able that would be tougher. Or if the weather and water was colder. This was not told to us until we were signing the contract and again, it was out way farther than it needed to be.
50 geese also made this property their home so by the end of the week it was hard to walk in the yard avoiding the geese poop.
The house itself was alright. It was pretty small and I am not sure it was worth the cost.
We made the best of our week but if we had seen it before, we would have chosen a different property.
The view was amazing and the lake was awesome. That was the highlight of the week.
We booked this property as a last minute Labor Day weekend / week vacation. The location is ideal if you are looking for a base camp to explore the area. We appreciated the quietness, size of the property, and waterfront.
For the most part we enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately, a handful of issues presented themselves throughout the week. The house did not have working smoke detectors, they also appear to be well beyond the general 10-year expiration. Second, one of the electrical receptacles in the bedroom was cracked in half, making it a potential safety hazard. Further, both the gas stove top and washing machine need to be serviced. The stove's ignition system continuously tries to ignite when the oven is in use. We ended up unplugging it to be safe. The washer would not progress beyond the washing cycle, which requires the clothes to be run through a separate spin cycle.
Lastly, we woke up Thursday morning to mouse droppings spread across the kitchen countertops. Upon further exploration, we discovered an abundance of droppings behind the refrigerator, to the right of the oven in the open area, and countertop appliances as well.
The property owner was notified of these issues, we requested a partial refund of 1 day's use and host fees. We do not live in the area and booking another property for 1 day wasn't feasible. Diana had stated she would look into compensating us for the mouse/droppings issue, but there has been no further follow up to date, going on 3 weeks.
The property was as described and it was very suitable to our needs. We had a great time and the weather was great. The use of the rental boat was ideal for us to travel by lake and visit Leland. I would rent this property again.
We were in town to work and stayed here 9 nights.
At the end of the day we loved watching the sunset from the yard.
The owners were always available, and very friendly, when we had any questions.
Overall great location and stay! Pictures do not do this property justice!
Absolutely wonderful property perfect location. Close to Leland, Traverse City and Suttons Bay. So many things for teens and little ones to do and so many places to shop and eat. HIGHLY recommend renting pontoon boat and Tube. Boat launch right next door as well we rented Wave runners for a day and they drop them right there and pick them up. Owner was so helpful and nice also a great communicator. We will absolutely go back!
The property is right next to the public boat launch but is well hidden from view. We brought our boat and was able to get a mooring point set which worked well until we had day with 35 to 40mph winds one day. Will cautioned me that it can get windy and is why he canât allow boats to tie to the dock. We really enjoyed the location to the bike trail, the ability to take our boat into Leland for dinner and the amazing sunsets.
My husband and I stayed here with our two year old daughter, 8 year old niece, and my parents. The cabin was the perfect size for all of us! The property itself is amazing- itâs huge! The beach was perfect for my daughter to swim and play. The sunsets are gorgeous, and the location itself is a great spot on Leelanau- we were close to so many other places that were easy to visit (Leland, Suttonâs Bay, downtown TC, etc). We also appreciated Will and Dianaâs communication- from tips on where to eat, to questions we had- they were always very easy to reach. Great hosts! We also appreciated that we were able to bring our dog who is 9 years old and, although is quite the âold manâ now, he loved the lake just as much as we did. We will definitely be back and canât wait till the next time!
We've stayed here twice w/o regrets - Location is fantastic as its on a gorgeous lake and only 15 mins from downtown Traverse City - Property has plenty of space for lawn games or dogs to roam - Western shoreline allows for stunning sunsets - Will and Diana are warm and responsive and easily approachable for ideas to eat/visit in the local area.
Nice location and waterfront, but the value did not match the accommodations. Uneven flooring wobbled in the main room and could be dangerous for elderly guests. 1 1/2 rolls of toilet paper for the week and one bundle of fire wood seems lacking for the price. The summer bedding was a bit thin for the cool October when we visited. Hearth was not operational in the house. Overall good lake front location but a few more amenities would have improved the stay greatly.
OMG do we love this place, the town, the people, awesome food and lovely host, picture donât do justice, everything is new in the house, Lake Leelanau is lovely and we and our dogs truly enjoy it, please donât take the trees down!! and we love the hammocks, the pier is very convenient too, we will be back for sure, thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home
Irene and Mike
Really nice location. Owner is very quick to respond to questions. Thereâs an adjacent property that has guests but other than that very secluded. Because of the only 1 bathroom, smaller kitchen, and table I would say max number of adult guests I would bring is 6. Even though it advertises as 10. Would definitely recommend the listing to anyone
Great lake front property! Will was very helpful during check in and with recommendations for food and activities. We had our family of 5, including 2 teenagers and a preteen, as well as our 2 dogs. Everyone had a great time. House is exactly as pictured in photos. I would definitely go back.
Nice clean cabin on beautiful Lake Leelanau. Much nicer than the pictures show. Amazing sunsets nice dock. Close to Traverse City. Very attentive host. The listing doesnât mention that the beach and dock are shared with the other cabin on the property. Everyone had a great time.
Beach and water access was perfect. Our daughters loved the hammocks. Sunsets were amazing and with the long water frontage the views were exceptional. We loved the log furniture decor. Very easy access to boat launch which was extremely helpful as we rented a boat during our stay. Extended dock proved valuable as multiple fish were caught off the end. Very spacious exterior allowing for many activities without feeling cramped. We would love to visit Lake Leelanau again.
We had a fantastic trip to Lake Leelanau and enjoyed this property very much. My husband and I booked a last minute trip, and Will was great. Check in was very easy as Will met us at the cottage when we let him know weâd be getting there. He was a great host and provided some great places to eat and things to check out during our stay. He did not disappoint! We are grateful Will allowed us to bring our two Goldendoodles along who also loved the cottage and playing in the water. We know it can be difficult to accommodate multiple animals. The cottage was nicely updated and met all our needs, although we did spend 90% of our time outside enjoying the beautiful lakefront and sunsets!
We enjoyed ourselves!! Family of 5 who had to book at the last minute due to a cancellation of another VRBO that was no longer allowed to rent. The day before we were to leave, we saw this property which was recently listed due to be new on the VRBO market. I was hesitant as I normally pick my properties based on reviews. With this property being new there obviously were no reviews. However to our liking it was a great experience!! The owners were very responsive with meeting our check-in needs as well as a few items during the trip. The property has a warm & cozy cottage/cabin feel. The bedrooms were small but they were perfect for a trip where you spend most of your time outside. Kitchen appliances were new which made it great for cooking daily. The open concept was great for the family as well. We rented a boat from a local company who dropped it in the water next door! Very convenient to be on the water and near a boat access ramp. The kids snorkeled in the lake, loved laying in the hammocks, attempting to hang out with ducks/geese, and the queen size bunk beds were a hit!! Location was great and right in between Traverse City and Leland.
We had a few issues with the toilet but the owners fixed it immediately and I think are replacing it completely for the next guest. Iâd recommend bringing slippers as the home is all hardwood. The air was an AC unit built into the upper wall that sometimes made it cold for us while in the living room, so bring sweaters or blankets too.
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend!!
