We have just spent two weeks at La Tourelle and loved every minute. The first week was with 9 family members, and in the second a number of friends joined us, maxing out at 13 staying. The house coped with us all well, especially as the weather allowed us to eat al fresco. The bedrooms all had their own character, all were clean and uncluttered. Everyone in my party commented on the comfort of the beds, and duvets were provided all round. Towels were also provided as well as towels for round the pool as well. The 4 bathrooms had a boutique hotel feel about them, nicely laid out and decorated - with just the one on the 2nd floor being a little smaller, but with a large walk in shower. Downstairs there are 3 rooms (no toilet though), large kitchen with all the appliances and utensils you would need, a dinning room which was great for late night cards. The lounge had a large flat screen TV with freeview, which was perfect for the Olympics!
We used the pool everyday, although it is at the front of the property the bushes have grown up well and it is now completely hidden from the road. It's not a diving pool but was perfect for playing on lilos and rings. We just had to beat the younger members of our party to the sun loungers in the morning!
It was worth heading this far south for the excellent weather, some of us drove the whole day from northern France, whilst other flew into Toulouse and hired a car. Angles was a friendly village with all the basics covered as far as food was concerned. A great local cafe as well which was a good stop after collecting the bread in the morning. The restaurant in the village was closed, but we went to auberge de la souque, which is just 7k down the road and was excellent with simple food cooked well.
Tom the owner ensured we had everything we needed and was contactable when we had questions about anything. The house is old and has character, so is not perfect, but had everything we needed to ensure we had a great holiday. Visit gorge d'heric which is about 50k west of angles for a good day playing in river pools (not white water rafting!).
The sun hits the front of the house in the morning so it was great for sitting outside for breakfast. In the evening the house is shaded from the sun, but it was still a great place to sit outside and eat before it got dark. It was a long way to travel, but the house worked beautifully for us... A great find.
