The Boat house a quintessential New England “Camp”. It is in a sweet little neighborhood on a small peninsula. All the neighbors walking by were very welcoming! It is rustic and lived in, but super comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped. The screened in porch was great in the warm afternoon. We slept well. We enjoyed a morning paddle board on the lake, even though it was chilly! We would stay again.Thank you, Will, for making everything so easy!

The Boathouse was perfect. Rustic, serene, and peaceful. It had a little bit of everything, sunrise coffee, rainbows, and amazing night sky. Neighbors were friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to return!

Quintessential Vermont camp for a quiet getaway on the lake. It was perfect for our family of 5 (kids are 11,13,16) with fishing, swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding off the dock with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Definitely on our list of places to stay again!

The house location is amazing. Coffee by the lake in the morning was A. The neighborhood is lovely. I love the traditional camp feel. The fireplace was so nice on one of the colder nights.

The property was exactly as described and more! A beautiful spot on Lake Champlain, perfect for our family’s getaway. Neighbors, Harry and Cassie, were hospitable, helpful in recommending places to eat and visit, and were extremely welcoming! We hope to get the opportunity to stay at The Boathouse again very soon!

Peaceful getaway on the lake

We enjoyed a few lovely days at the Boat House with friends and family. The camp is rustic but has a very well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture, clean linens and comfy beds. We loved the location, neighbors are friendly, and overall - it's just a peaceful and relaxing place to spend time with family and friends. We hope to be back!!

The upstairs sleeping quarters were exposed to the studs and rafters. I woke up with a view of roof nails and wiring. It’s not rustic or campy, it’s dirty. The sleeping porch was the same with lots of dirt on windowsills and floor. Mouse traps and droppings were visible every morning. I think that’s a common problem in this area though. Bedding was clean and so were the bathrooms and downstairs interior spaces. These were comfortable. You pay for the view. It was beautiful. It would have been more comfortable on the porch if the furniture was in good condition. Lots of dirt out there too. It’s exposed to the elements, but if you pay a cleaning service, they can still wipe down tables. The front porch seemed to be a repository for discarded furniture including a broken rocker in one corner. The people in the neighborhood were very friendly and went out of their way to say hello. I don’t think I have ever left a negative review before, but I would not recommend staying here unless changes are made upstairs.

It’s more like a camp

We enjoyed our stay. It’s more like a camp than a cottage which was fine. The upstairs is creepy and no one would go up there alone. It does look like they are starting to remodel some of the camp. We enjoyed paddle boarding and the area is really nice.

Nice location, could use some TLC

The Boathouse is in a great location on the lake, and it is a typical old-time summer lake cottage, but it needs some attention to provide guests a better experience. We did have a few issues while there, and the host was responsive. I would caution potential renters that this is a rustic experience. And while the interior was relatively clean, we had to clean a lot of spiders, webs, and dirt from the from porch and the kayaks to make them useable.The next door neighbors Harry and wife Cassie were awesome, and very helpful!

Expected it to be clean

We stayed at the Boat House in the first week of October, 2022. My first impression was pretty bad. We paid a cleaning fee so I expected the previous guest to have paid it as well. The bathroom was filthy. There was mold on the shower curtain and hair all over the tub, floor, rug and sink. Not at all what I expected given the price paid per night. I had to wash the shower curtain and rug as well as clean the entire bathroom just to use it. Windows had been left open and the house was really cold when we arrived. There is one heater in the house but it does not warm the upstairs at all. We did not use the fireplace. The kitchen was pretty nice with all the basic stuff to prepare meals. I loved the cabinets. The living room is cozy and comfortable. The first floor bedroom is advertised as a queen bed but it’s only a double bed. On the plus side, the house is in a great spot with beautiful views. It was great for taking a long walk and catching the sunsets. This is not a place to stay in cool weather but I imagine in summer it would be great, as long as it was cleaned!

Enjoyed our stay, but could use some TLC

Good location on a beautiful lake in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen and bath looked recently updated, but some of the kitchen cookware was old and rusty. Place could have used a deep clean as there were many cobwebs and mold on the shower curtain. The downstairs bedroom has a full bed rather than a queen bed. The grill was not left in a usable state so we chose not to use it. The mattresses are old and uncomfortable and should be updated. Despite these faults, we enjoyed our stay. However, for the price we paid we would have expected a more updated camp.

Loved having the dock and the mooring, it made boating Lake Champlain so enjoyable.

Great location

Quintessential older lake house. Plenty of space for our family. We loved having a working fire place for the colder rainy evenings. Kitchen was well stocked. Could use a new grill. Being an early season booking we felt we opened the camp with basic clean up. Beds were full size not queen size but did the job for the week. We had an issue with the washing machine and the owner and manager quickly responded. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Boathouse.

Lovely lake house, but quite rustic

We loved the location of the house, right across the street from the lake with use of the 2 kayaks and standup paddleboards. We were out on the lake every day, swimming and/or boating, although the steady breeze made paddleboarding a bit too challenging to try more than once. It was lovely to sit and read and look out over the lake from the beautiful porch. The house was nicely equipped -- we cooked dinner on the grill one night and made breakfasts and lunches in the kitchen. The shower and laundry room off the kitchen seemed like an unusual layout, but it really worked out quite well. The open walls and ceilings upstairs with exposed electrical wires creeped out our young adult kids, who refused to even go upstairs. The sleeping areas upstairs were spacious, but would benefit from some updating to match the downstairs, which was lovely. The neighborhood was very friendly with people walking by with and without dogs and saying hi. The lack of curtains on most of the windows was disconcerting at night, when people walking by could look right into the house. We enjoyed our trips to nearby Cookie Love for milkshakes and cookies and we took some nice trips to Burlington, including some local breweries and an admissions tour of the University of Vermont. Ryan was very easy to communicate with and made us feel very welcome.

perfect Vermont family getaway

Beautiful lakeside home with front screened porch along tranquil bay dotted with islands. Perfect family getaway for paddling, walking, and seeking out some of the best maple creemies in Vermont ( which we found right down the road at Vermont Cookie Love. Burlington a quick drive north. Kids loved the stand up paddle boards.

Perfect Getaway

We had a wonderful time. We spent most of our time in the screened-in porch and on the dock/floating in the water. Definitely a relaxing setting. Thank you!
