Homer's Coastal Cottage with hot tub & sauna

This cottage was built in the 1950's. It's been remodeled multiple times, but still has its quirks! Very charming and comfortable you won't want to leave! It's located right on the coast of Kachemak Bay, Homer, Alaska. Settled between the small airport and the ocean, you will hear the small cessna planes leaving for bear viewing adventures as well as the sounds of eagles and gulls. Enjoy the views from the kitchen, living room, master bedroom, hot tub, sauna, expansive deck or manicured lawn. Beautiful place to relax and recharge. Excellent birdwatching with two eagle nests close by as well as multiple shorebirds on the beach below. The beach below the house is not accessible from the property, but a short distance away there is a trail leading down to the ocean. Excellent location - short drive to town for groceries and a short drive to the Homer Spit. This is our primary home and we live here with our dogs October- May. We are happy to share it with you. It’s a special place!

Excellent stay

We loved our stay here. I never leave reviews so it had to be great. Beautiful views, clean, best sleep ever, sauna, cards after a home cooked dinner… just what we had hoped.

Exceeded our expectations!

Idyllic setting-looking across water at snow capped mountains with eagles crisscrossing to their nest. Whether sitting in the hot tub or the living room, there was always something gorgeous to look at. The house is immaculately clean, beautifully furnished and complete with everything needed for comfort, cooking or entertainment. The location is perfect for accessing town and Homer Spit, yet feels like a very private retreat.

Outstanding

Girls trip! We stayed a week enjoying Homer and the surrounding area, but enjoyed our stay in this house equally! The stunning views go for miles, and were enjoyed from inside, outside, and hot tub. The layout of the rooms gave everyone privacy, and space to relax. The area was very quiet, much appreciated when trying to vacation! The host was available and helpful, navigating technical questions about the smart TV and appliances over FaceTime - probably the best host I've worked with. Thank you!

Perfect Hideaway Perfect View

When we pulled into the driveway we entered a different world filled with beautiful gardens and surrounded by trees- truly a secluded oasis. Upon entering the house you see a wall of window with amazing views of the the inlet and mountains. The house well equipped, beautifully decorated and immaculate. We enjoyed mornings drinking coffee on the deck looking at the mountains and evenings enjoying drinks in the hot tub. The host was very accommodating before we arrived and although we did not meet her in person, made herself available if we had needed anything. An incredible experience!! If you have the chance to visit Homer we highly recommend Homer's Coastal Cottage.

AMAZING get-away

Such an amazing stay! I stayed here this past summer and was so impressed. This cottage has amazing views, comfortable living areas and beds, well-equipped kitchen, and a perfect location. we enjoyed the sauna and hot tub after hikes in the beautiful fall weather. Emily is a wonderful host. I can't say enough about this cottage. My only complaint is that I don't live there full-time!

Great property!

Communication with owner was excellent, even left a nice welcoming gift. Everything you need is at the house (bedding, towels, dishes, etc) The view is priceless on the deck.

Spectacular Homer Getaway

Without a doubt this is the best VRBO property I've ever stayed in. Everything about it is just so - from the coastal-vibe decor to the well-stocked kitchen and bath to the luxury of the hot tub and sauna. The view is unmatched, and the house is configured to take maximum advantage. The tree-filled yard gives you a sense of complete privacy - except when eagles decide to hang out in one of them right off the deck. What a place - can't wait to stay again!

Most Amazing VRBO!

This home goes above and beyond. It has the most gorgeous view in Homer (Beautiful views of Kachemak Bay, the Homer Spit, and the mountains) and is the most comfortable home. It is close to everything. The home is very clean and the beds are super comfortable. We loved the large wrap-around deck with a picnic table, rocking chairs, and snack tables, as well as the large adjacent yard with Adirondack chairs and firepit! We used the hot tub after a great day of hiking or shopping but didn't get a chance to use the sauna. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with quality pots, pans, and knives. We were super impressed with our welcome surprise in the fridge (wine, beer, cheese, crackers, etc.). The home is well stocked to meet all of the basic needs - Fresh flowers -well supplied with towels, paper products, etc. There is a large library of books. We felt at home instantly and that the owner cared and wanted us to make this place our home for the stay. We would stay again in a heartbeat, Oh right, I am staying here again in October and I can't wait!!!

An absolutely wonderful and beautiful stay!

My husband and I were in the area to film a wedding. Because it was our first time in Alaska, we chose to stay a week so we could enjoy the area outside of work. This house was absolutely perfect. The view is just stunning. The beds were sooo comfortable-- like, I want to know the brands of the pillows and mattresses! I took advantage of the sauna once and we used the hot tub many times. They supplied all basic necessities and then some... even left a yummy treat in the fridge. This was quite possibly our favorite vacation rental ever.

Beautiful home in a scenic heaven

This home and grounds is absolutely beautiful! The host is wonderful. She left us fresh cut flowers, a plate of specialty food, and a bottle of wine. I felt so welcomed! My husband and I watched the bald eagles that would fly by every day. The views are spectacular. The location is super easy to get to and the Homer Spit is only minutes away. Location, beauty and comfort - this home met ALL of my expectations!!

Great Cottage, Spectacular view, Hot Tub Sauna

Could not have been more pleased. One of the few VBRO’s in Homer to offer either a hot tub our sauna with world class views. This place offers both. Cozy cottage offering all the hospitable touches. Beer and appetizers were waiting for us in fridge. Coffee and fresh cream for our morning. Unlike some VBRO it was just nicely equipped with stuff u would have in your own home. Really high quality beds. SUCH AN AWESOME VIEW!!! Can’t say enough about the view. Great proximity to the town and the spit. Just a really well thought out set -up. Will definitely be back at this place.

I moved to Homer, Alaska 16 years ago from Hayward, Wisconsin. I enjoy hiking, reading, fishing, walking the Homer Spit and playing ice hockey. I met my husband at the hockey rink. Brandon and I Iove to listen to live music, relax outside, and enjoy good food and wine.

We spend the summers at our cabin on Island Lake in Nikiski, Alaska.

I looked for a house on the Kachemak Bay coast for over a year. Once I stepped in this house I knew it was the one. With the windows overlooking the ocean and the vast mountain views it has this magical feeling I can't explain. Book it to feel it too!
