Old Bahama Bay Oceanfront Cottage Suite! Une, deux ou trois suites adjacentes

We have been renting our Old Bahama Bay rooms ever since the property has been open and I have never responded to a review. With over 40 reviews and a 4.9 rating there was no reason to. Your review necessitates a response. Yes, there was a resort wide water pressure issue during your stay which arose after your arrival. Our units are on the second floor, where the issue was worse than the ground floor. After you advised me of the problem, I arranged for you to have complimentary access to a ground floor unit, so you had 2 rooms available to you. We had guests staying in one of our other rooms at the same time you were there who departed without saying a word about the water pressure, and submitted a favorable review. The partial refund you mentioned was actually over 40% of the payment I received from the deeply discounted VRBO rate we charge compared to the resort’s rate. (Even though the temporary water pressure problem was resort wide, the resort offered no refund to guests who booked directly at rates at least 50% higher than our VRBO rate). I apologized to you several different times and was in daily contact with the resort doing everything I could to assist. Resort management cooperated in providing complimentary access to the second room. Within days of your departure, less significant room issues were addressed by management. I received the following text from a guest who arrived shortly after your departure (who left the resort 2 days ago and has not yet reviewed): “Yes. That's correct. We are checked in now. Room looks great.“ Old Bahama Bay’s beaches are widely considered among the most appealing on the island. I do suggest staying in the Lucaya area to anyone looking for a much higher density property with active nightlife and access to gambling.

I have replied to only one VRBO review in well over a decade of renting. With a “9.8 exceptional” rating from 56 reviews (49 excellent, 6 good, 1 okay) there was no need to respond. In this case, however, I am responding to the inaccuracies in this 1 star review. The renter states when he and his wife arrived on Dec. 30 there was a mildew or mold scent in the room. His only communication to me on 12/30 was that the TV wasn’t working, though he told me later that day that it was working. I heard nothing from him on the following day, 12/31. On Jan. 1, their 3rd day, he mentioned a mildew smell for the first time. Resort staff did find a spot on a lamp shade, but no other trace of mold or mildew in the room. He states that after their third night they were “finally” moved to one of our other 2 rooms. Had he requested a move sooner it would have happened then. As to the heat issue he discusses, he failed to mention that the room temperature was 71, but that didn’t work for him because he has Raynaud syndrome and requires a much higher temperature to feel warm. The resort staff told me he was sick with the flu, likely contracted before he arrived. Regarding his last comments, I did not tell him those were “some of the reasons” we offer a discount to the resort’s rate. As to the refund issue, the day before they departed the resort I authorized a refund of nearly 55% of my proceeds from his rental, which were withdrawn from my bank account by VRBO the following day.
