The photos of the property are incredibly old

The house is dated, dirty, the stairs are dilapidated, most of the outside lights did not work, the bathroom drains did not drain, the inside was infested with spiders and tiny little bugs, the cleaners didnt empty half of the bathroom garbage I can go on, I've been to the outerbanks for 26 years this is my first time thru VRBO. I paid extra to go thru VRBO instead of the regular realtor, the property management needs ro seriously look into the cleaning an care, their was duck tape x's over the air conditioning vents, broken blinds, 3 of the house chairs we couldnt sit in and the deck ones were unstable flimsy plastic, I figured this house was still available an cheaper being sound side and right on the main road, so I had lower expectations but to spend the 1000's we did to drive 15 hrs and get a musty, buggy, duet house sucked. There were no directions no anything in the house to suggest that the owners cared at all about tenants, I at 8pm after sitting in traffic for hours which I expected had to go back and spend another 50 bucks on lysol and Clorox wipes, spider spray, and spend my first night cleaning, the community is beautiful it stinks the pool closes at 445, but other then that its lovely, I would not recommend this property to anyone unless property management went in an overhauled it, dressers with broken drawers, flimsy bunk beds, mattresses 20 years off their prime, we made the best of it because we had no other choice, but it was awful, the 2 stars is just for the lovely neighborhood of Monterey shores, save yourself the money and buyer beware, most mad about the picture if the house that us definitely old as the vegetation is very overgrown, also on a plus the jacuzzi people did keep it clean an maintained

NO recommendation !

This was listed with VRBO, however it is a a realtor company home. The minute you arrive you can tell this is NOT a personal home owner who rents house, both realtor and VRBO get to tack on “fees”
I paid extra for “ early” check in, hmm must mean you get an uncleaned home that they say ok early checkin is ready! Upon walking right into home there are nacho cheese chips and regular chips on all the stairs on each level. There was sand all over which I get it’s the beach. Bedroom on second level had a million ants along window, floor, dresser and literally crawling on the bed. My children slept there ( there were tons of dead bugs all over baseboard, this clearly was never vacuumed, both second level bedrooms had the nacho chips all over carpet and under bed. The top level kitchen had some sort of candle wax all over. I literally on hands and knees scraped it up myself. Top level bedroom also had chips everywhere, but this TV worked. Only 2 of the 4 TVs worked, the ceiling had multiple old water marks and plaster that had broken down with wetness. Many lightbulbs burned out in top level kitchen and living space. (In the ceiling) outdoor top deck light burned out, half bath on level also had burned out bulbs! Now let’s talk about safety issues! One kitchen chair ready to fall apart, legs so loose you didn’t dare sit on. Blue chair in living room collapsed. I sat down and chair fell and heard the screws/bolts but the floor. My husband luckily carries tools, he fixed it. Now the worst, don’t go out on upper deck barefoot. Went out to sit and there were multiple, multiple nails that had “popped” up most likely due to age and wear. I walked across deck and the head of nail literally ripped my foot open, great way to start. This hazard kept any of us from going out onto this deck. Microwave old, cracked. Fridge took forever to cool off. Took almost 36 hours for things to feel cold. Trash all over under house, backyard and sides of house. It’s sad that a beach area doesn’t take more care to protect the environment for the sea life. Hot tub was nice to enjoy. Quick bike ride to clubhouse pool and watch turtles in pond. Short bike road to beautiful beach. I highly recommend to NOT call the realtor when your an hour out from property. They ask you to so you make sure house is ready. I was on hold forever every single time I called! Finally left messages with issues. Guess what! I’m still exiting for the call back. I did finally send an email; “manager aware

Work in progress with a lot of potential

Great location to the beach, wonderful neighborhood, lots of space, and lots of privacy. Needs a lot of TLC though as there was a few holes in the roof, lots of trash out front, and the grass and bushes were not upkept.

Needs attention

The cons out way the pros of this property. When arriving the weeds are over grown as well as over the back deck there is a bunch of trash. As far as being clean inside it could definitely use more work. They didn't vacuum very well and we found bowls of food under the couch which indicates they don't clean under them. Every piece of patio furniture is broken or cracked. The beds are terribly and squeak. It was extremely hot in the house and took a day to cool off as well as the fridge took about 3 days to cool down. The hot tub would never get hotter then 95 until we restarted it and was supposed to be service mid week but they never came and the water turned green and smelled awful. When calling they said they would have someone come service it but they probably wouldn't get to it that day. The pool closes way to soon! The whole week I didn't get to make it to it. Also 16 year olds can not keep anyone under 16 with them and anyone under 16 has to have someone 18 years or older. If it storms then they close the pool and not just for the duration of the storm but the rest of the day. So if it is raining at 9am they won't even open the pool. Even though they make you get out because of rain it's a swim at your own risk so you would think that you wouldn't have to get out if there isn't a life guard. The washing machine is extremely small and would stop mid cycle when washing so you would then have to restart it. The inside furniture was not to bad other then the beds. The upstairs bathroom drain does not work well and takes forever to drain and the water pressure for everything is not good. The shower outside doesn't work at all but the water hose does still makes it difficult to wash off though. When entering the home we noticed there were ants everywhere! We eneded up having to buy traps which is extremely annoying! Then we found the ants came in through a window that had been left open from eaither the previous tenant or the cleaners. During our stay a hurricane came through and we then found another window was open (one we did not open ourselves) to which the wind tried to take off during the storm. One of our friends had to sit on the other window seal and hold on to it during 75 mile winds and rain to put it back in place. You have to buy a pass to drive on the beach it isn't included in the reservation. No one was in the office and they never answer The space was beneficial the location was nice but all the other issues need to be fixed.

Neglected Property

The location of the property was great, close to everything. It also was nice to have access to the clubhouse and pool. The hot tub was also nice, and maintenance came to check chemicals midweek. Upon arrival, the outside was very overgrown and in need of trimming. The floors were sticky and there were crumbs on the dining table. The beds were horrible. Every piece of furniture on the decks were broken or cracked. The couch smelled like BO. The house served the purpose and there was plenty of room, but overall this house needs attention, a good cleaning and updating.

Good location. House was ok

The house is close to the club house and pool but one thing that was annoying is the fact that the facilities are only open9-5. So no way to get an early morning work out or a night swim. The house is ok and pics are accurate. It could definitely use some updating and cleaning. Overall though not a bad deal for the price.

Great Space with Fun Amenities

We had a lovely time with family! There was so much space that we could all get together and play games or do separate activities without feeling cramped. The beach was a pleasant walk away (although a little tough with two children crossing the street, but we could have used the beach access parking). And the neighborhood amenities were great hits with our little ones. There were a couple minor upkeep issues, but we came at the end of the season so it's likely little things that have happened throughout the busy season. Everything was kept up nicely and we truly enjoyed our time there!
