Lovely quiet place to stay in Volcano for a few days! Just a couple miles down the road from Kilauea, and within a half mile walk of a few shops and restaurants. Bed was comfy, shower was nice and kitchen had what we needed.
This house is pretty much the only house on the entire block you are just surrounded by rainforest. No bugs in the house at all it was great. Couches aren't that comfortable and getting the Wi-Fi to work on the TV was a b**** sometimes but that was about the only negative. Beautiful property comfy beds no complaints
Dealing with the rusted chain at the gate always results in dirty hands. Horrible mold smell. Fireplace doesn't work. No trash collection. 24 hour "Free cancelation" isn't free, they keep the booking fee.
Located close to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
The rental was pretty decent for the price. Not luxury and feels outdated but clean and has all the essentials for a family of 4.
Someone finally came over on the
3rd day to fix the gas fireplace.
There were space heaters on each room and electric blankets. It's very cold so pack your clothes when staying here.
The location was awesome, the space was nice, and offered a lot of nice options and great gift box of chocolates. Only think I wish they can change is the lock on the gate,it was very hard to lock (kept jamming) and to unlock in the middle of the night was very annoying, you had to keep closing the gate behind you and we were in and out a lot. Also, renter is responsible for trash and we could not find an open transfer station. We had to drive around with trash for an hr.
The quiet sanctuary and beautiful flowers
The house is well placed, close to Volcano Village and the park. Yet there was no cutting board or Tupperware. But nice stay. Thanks
The property was great for all the essentials and the kids loved exploring the backyard. However, the property could benefit from some updates especially in the kitchen. When we arrived the oven and stove burners werenât working and had to be reset on the breaker. Overall we enjoyed our stay and it is in a great location to visit Volcano National Park.
This was actually my first time staying at a short term vacation rental, but we all thought it was awesome! As soon as you arrive at the property, it is fenced in with a padlock. From the outside, the property and home are very welcoming. When you walk into the house, it feels like home! It's cozy and has all the utensils, silverware, pots/pans, a TV with YouTube, Netlfix, and other services, and the kitchen is great. It just has everything you would expect a place to have when you rent it. The ONLY thing that was missing was a bowl for the rice cooker. The beds were soooooo comfortable and there were plenty soft, plush blankets to keep warm in the nighttime when the whole house gets cold.
First of all this is a cabin not a home. No heat except for two space heaters and a small gas fireplace. We got here and fireplace did not work so they told us to use the two heaters and there are plenty of blankets!!!!! Really we had an infant with us and it does get pretty cold up there at night. That how they heat this joint!! I understand that itâs Hawaii but I spent over $500.00 for one night and it does get cold at night with the rain. They are suppose to refund me but havenât seen it! I think a few electric baseboard heaters would be great way to heat since there is no gas! Thanks but no Thanks! Oh almost forgot everything up there closes before 7 so be ready!
I was on the cusp of passing when they said bring your own drinking water. But ok, I can do that, weird, but ok. Then we get there and find out we have to take our own garbage away? That would have been a hard pass! They do give directions to the nearest transfer station; so kind. Honestly, if a place can't supply drinking water, or garbage service, it should not be a rental.
The front door lock is broken so the pass code doesn't work, then my friend finds a key box in the carport, while I'm on the phone to Vacasa. We get the code and are able to go in through the carport door. Vacasa was prompt in providing the code, also saying they're aware of the broken lock. Thanks.
The reviews are correct about the smell; ick! In humid places it's best to have as few rugs as possible and to have a heat source set low, when unoccupied, to keep the place drying out. The dehumidifier can't do it's job if the humidity setting is too high; set at 68% and I couldn't get it to change. I can empty mine out, at my house, twice in 20 hours, set as low as it goes (my place is not close to as humid as this area). It was maybe Πfull after two days of staying there. People with allergies beware!
The beds in both bedrooms were not comfortable, but the living room futons have excellent mattresses.
The house was clean, much of the artwork was both interesting and beautiful, so that was a bonus. I would not stay here again unless drinking water and garbage service is provided.
The place was really inviting, quiet & relaxing what "WELCOMING" is all about. The beds were comfortable, kitchen easy to locate cooking ware & utensils to creat amazing breakfasts, snacks & dinners. So close to Kilauea for day trips and for night to star gaze. All in all it was the great place.
We had a great stay. Very clean, well-stocked place with very comfortable beds. Very convenient to the park, and an easy drive to Hilo for grocery shopping and additional dining options as long as high traffic times are avoided.
Beautiful grounds and very clean, but only the basics
Nestled in a beautiful rainforest very close to the Volcanoes National Park entrance, this house has all the necessities. As long as you don't expect some of the extras usually found in VRBO properties (like Kleenex and salt & pepper), you'll be quite happy. The local management were extremely helpful and responsive when we had questions!
