Great location to Matlacha shops & restaurants, home is on a canal, in a quiet location. Fishing the canal is convenient, nice back porch area for enjoying the evening on the water AND you can bring your fur-babies. We enjoyed a relaxing stay in Matlacha!
Nice little house on a canal in Matlacha, conveniently located within walking distance of the restaurants, coffee shop, seafood house & grocers are only a short drive. The dock & canal are a beautiful place to have your morning coffee or watch the sunset in the evening from the back porch area. Tara is easy to work with & quick to respond if you have questions or concerns.
Me and my wife and our two little fur babies stayed at Taraâs cottage for the month of January 2024 and we couldnât be any happier we did!Its on a peaceful canal that you can fish out of and enjoy kayaking or just relaxing in the sun or rain lol as it was a abnormaly wet January this year!
This was a great rental. Everything was clean and in working order. Pictures accurately reflect what awaits you. We so enjoyed sitting out back relaxing on the canal. Would definitely rent again.
Fantastic property for a snowbird rental. Great location. Tara super responsive if issues arise (we stupidly locked ourselves out). Tara was quick to respond and saved us a locksmith fee.
Cannot wait to rent this property I. The future.
We had a nice time in Matlacha. The bridge being repaired made it very difficult to get on or off the island as many times we waited for an hour or more in traffic. Tara, our host was very accommodating if we needed anything, and the house was well equipped with everything we needed. We found that this is not a beach area, and we had to travel a long way to get to a beach. We, however caught Trout and Whiting, and had many nice fish dinners. ...So glad we had our boat! We enjoyed the back porch overlooking the canal. Can't wait to come back to Matlacha.
Very nice home quiet neighborhood. The owner was very nice as we locked ourselves out she was their within hour. Also had wind knocked out cable she got it fixed asap. Had wonderful time.
Host, Tara was excellent! Very good communication and quickly responded to any questions/concerns we might have had. Prior to our arrival we inquired about recliner rentals in the area due to physical issues requiring sleeping upright. Tara replied promptly and went a step further by actually putting a recliner in the home, which was there when we arrived. House very clean!
The place is not the one in the pictures, the dock gas collapsed , the grass is all dead, the lanai is dirty , the furniture doesnât make the pictures and the host showed up many times unannounced- I rent 4-5 house a year for the past 5 years so 20-25 house - this was by far the worst one !!!
Loved the house. Perfect place right on the canal to park your boat. Enjoyed fishing off the dock, and out on the grass flats. Couldnât ask for a nicer friendlier host, and a beautiful home
Our stay in this Matlacha home was exactly what we were looking for in our 2 week stay. It was just as described. As well as having the charms and character that only a true Matlacha Island home has to offer. From smiling neighbors, ripe fresh mangos, to the sun setting on the canal from the spacious back deck. Enjoy something from the hosts wide variety of reading materials, all the local island establishments or just the company of your traveling companion, you can have that all. So iF you are looking for an inviting, simple, home away from home, island vacation, and a relaxing experience with the charms from a unique home in an unique location I would recommend this one for you!
What a great place! Quaint, bright, cozy and in an exceptional location right on a canal. Tara was incredibly welcoming and reasonable. Would definitely stay again!
It was a nice house to stay at. Little dirty when we got there, floors needed to be swept and there was a used coffee filter with grounds in it when we went to make coffee our second morning. Over all house was great communication was better as our date got closer for vacation. At the end We weâre running a little behind getting out and cleaning up our mess, a woman not sure if it was Tara or a cleaning lady but she was extremely rude when I came up to apologize for being late, we like to leave the place clean. I just told my husband to get in the car and letâs go. Ended up leaving behind two kids cups. We made sure to wash all towels used and to leave the home better then when we got it. Overall great vacation loved the canal
Owner is friendly and very responsive. They have fixed this up nicely and continue to improve. I would suggest that garage get cleaned out as unit is small and that would be helpful. I would enjoy renting it again.
This is a very peaceful spot, the home is very comfortable even though it is small. The neighborhood is quiet and we had a very relaxing week. The dock for our boat was sufficient and it was a quick trip out to the pass.
This was a beautiful little house on a channel. It was perfect for my husband and I and our two dogs. We moored the boat to the dock out back. There are some places to eat on the water by boat which is something we love. The neighborhood was nice as was our winter time (snowbird) neighbor. He even gave the pups treats. I would definitely recommend this home.
What a perfect location! Matlacha is a fun little town and this home is within walking distance to it all. The property is just as advertised with great kitchen utensils, pantry items and appliances. There is ample room for relaxing indoors if you need a lay day or itâs raining. But the best is the canal right outside the back door. Deep water with easy access to the big water. Overall, we could not have been happier. We will definitely be back!
I grew up on Long Island, New York. I went to a SUNY university, married, divorced, and as a single parent, I spent the next 30 years teaching overseas. Our life overseas was exciting and filled with great experiences. My daughter graduated from high school at the foot of the pyramids. It was when she went to college I realized we needed a home base in the states and I was lucky enough to find this home in Matlacha. While overseas in Thailand in 2013, I met and married my dear husband of 10 years. We decided to retire and realized that my sweet house in Matlacha was too small for us right now. More than likely we will eventually move back to Matlacha but not now.
I bought this property so we had a home base in the states and I had a place to go during school vacations. I was also thinking that my sister and I would buy a sailboat so I wanted to be on the water and to be able to get out into the inter coastal waterway and the Gulf of Mexico. I love sitting on the dock and watching the sun go down below the palm trees.
Sitting on the lanai is quite relaxing. Watching the mullet jump is quite entertaining. There is a two person kayak for you to use if you are athletic and adventurous. It is so easy to walk to Pine Island Road and shop in the unique stores or eat in one of the nearby restaurants.
