This is a lovely home and a great location. Itâs so quiet and relaxing. Beautiful views and plenty of space to be together or have alone time. Itâs a quick 3 minute walk to the beach. Beds were comfortable, WiFi was great. Rose was delightful to communicate with and she responded quickly to every request. We loved our time here and hope to stay again next year!
Great location, but the property needs a lot of work
I really wanted to like this place - the location was amazing and the property manager was very responsive. The neighbors were also super nice. We were also so grateful to be able to bring our dogs and they had a great time swimming in the basin. We also loved being able to walk to the beach and restaurants. HOWEVER - iit needs a lot of work. At first we thought it was just cosmetic stuff and we didnât care. We were there to enjoy the beach and the basin and didnât mind. In fact, it was a relief to not have to always be worrying about being super careful about everything. But then - one after another- we discovered things that werenât working right/ were broken, and the including: the dishwasher, the clothes dryer, one out of two microwaves, the coffee pot, the ignition on the gas grill. Worst of all were the sink that had a MAJOR leak and the kayaks thar SUNK! For real, there were holes in them and they sank while we were paddling in the middle of the basin! Luckily we had brought our own lifejackets and were able to get to shore safely, but it was scary. Better a/c would have been nice too, but to be fair we had a week+ of 90-100 degree temps and Iâm not sure any a/c would have been able to keep up. Weâd love to go back, but only if they fix things significantly.
Excellent location, close to beaches, quite neighborhood, 8 minutes from Newbury's shops and restaurants. Beds were very comfortable, the property inside was well maintained and clean; water pressure on the second floor a little low and the exterior of the house needs some work, but other than that recommend this property for familes and groups. Pet friendly
This home is NOT how it is pictured. There are portions of siding missing, mold in the windows, one window looks to be DUCT TAPED to hold it in the wall. HORRIBLE - DO NOT STAY. April 2022.
I can not believe VRBO has not taken this home off of its platform. What an absolute disgrace.
The house offered comfortable, home-like accommodations for us, well-situated to enjoy Plum Island â the main attraction. The house is set back from the basin (the view in the posting is from the third floor bedroom area; living space and deck are on the first floor). Space was ample. Furnishings and general conditions are dated. We had a couple of issues (washing machine malfunction, the larger microwave did not work), and we would have welcomed a wider selection of cable channels. Wifi was strong (and reliable), as advertised. We received timely responses to our questions, before and during our stay. Minutes walking to the beach, nice cafe very close -- walking distance, friendly neighbors...enjoyed the stay.
We loved the location, a short walk to the beach and just steps to the basin gave us all sorts of options. The house is nice, showing its age a bit, but everything was in working order and the wifi was really fast (which made working from here very easy). Overall a wonderful stay and would definitely stay there again,
We had a wonderful month at this property from Memorial Day weekend through most of June. The location is wonderful for walking PI in both directions and it was great to be so close to the beach and Mad Marthaâs. The property manager Rose was extremely responsive to any questions or concerns and helped our trip run extra smoothly. The wifi was perfect throughout the entire stay and having strong shower pressure were simple pleasures (never know when you rent a beach house!). The house was perfectly imperfect which allowed for a comfortable stay. I would recommend this property.
We stayed at this house from September 19-26, 2020. When we arrived we found the house was cold. The thermometer read 56 degrees. We discovered that we could not turn on the heat. When we contacted the property manager she suggested we use the space heaters. She subsequently provided us with a total of 5 heaters. The night temperatures were in the 30's and the heaters were not adequate to keep us warm. The heaters tripped the breaker in the room our grandson was using, and that room could not be heated at all . In addition, space heaters are generally regarded as unsafe to use while sleeping. Rose , the property manager attempted to be helpful but said the owner told her the heat could not be turned on until November. We attempted to reach the owner on several occasions, including asking Rose to forward an email from us requesting that he address the issue. We got no response from him what-so-ever. Luckily the temperature was warmer the latter part of the week and the heaters were not needed .
There were a few other issues that were not as significant as this. The door to the downstairs bathroom did not shut. Rose attempted to fix it but was not completely successful . The carpeting in the top two floors of the house is badly stained by what appears to be pet accidents. We would like to emphasize that even though the owner was not responsive to our concerns, Rose, the manager was very responsive and was as helpful as she could have been.
We love Plum Island and vacation there almost every year. We have always enjoyed our stay and have never had a negative experience like this. We would not recommend this rental.
This was a great week for me, and some friends who came to visit. There is a beautiful view of the basin from the deck. The option to use the Kayaks was great, but you need to watch the timing of the tides.
The house was spacious and clean. The main living/dining area is a really good size and was great for hanging out when in inside. The balcony and view from the master is amazing!
The best part about this property is the location, it is perfect for a Beach Bum vacation where you can walk to the beach in a few minutes. It is also a pretty short walk to ice cream, convenience stores and a couple of the Plum Island restaurants. I didn't use it, but having a grill is a great option.
The booking, check in and check out process were all very easy. Rose checked on me after I checked in and we met George one day and chatted.
We had a great stay over Labor Day weekend and the following week. I am from the area originally and grew up going to Plum Island regularly (my aunt lives further down the basin), so when my husband and I were thinking of taking a trip from where we live in Westchester, NY to visit with my family, I took a look to see if there was anywhere on the island that was pet-friendly and would accept our two cats to tag along with us. We were pleasantly surprised by the house - it's even nicer inside than the pictures show and it had a large deck outside which was perfect to have family stop by. The house was plenty big enough to have my parents and sister stay for part of the week. We had great weather most of the time we were there but it's always important to me to have a nice inside of the house in case the weather doesn't cooperate and the interior was updated and comfortable. This was also one of the most well stocked houses I've ever stayed in - plenty of propane for the grill, hand soap in the bathrooms, laundry detergent, sheets, bath towels. And the beds were actually comfortable! The location was perfect and there were kayaks and life jackets with a spot to go into the basin right in front of the house. We didn't go out but it made it easy for my aunt to kayak down from her house to visit. Mad Martha's had been closed since March but reopened for takeout a couple of days before we left so we were able to take advantage of how convenient it is to the house for breakfast one morning. The property manager, Rose, was also super responsive whenever I had any questions. We would definitely stay here again and hope to be back next year!
You can't beat the location, easy access to the Basin for Kayaks, one block from the ocean beach. The interior had just been redone. I was a bit put off by the exterior condition of the property which carried over to inside. The windows and screens on the 2nd and 3rd floor are in bad shape and don't open without falling apart. It meant using the air conditioners more than we normally would have on the at a seaside location,
