Southern Comfort home was lovely. Great view of the mountains. The home was comfortable and cozy. Very clean. Fun decor! Second visit here. We love it!! Thanks Christina
We had the best ten days at Southern Comfort. The location is perfect for kayaking, biking, hiking and swimming! The cabin was well equipped for cooking and grilling. Loved the hot tub. Many thanks for an inspired vacation cabin!
My family and I have stayed at many cabins between Boone, Cherokee, and Pigeon Forge and this home surpassed them all. The home was decorated beautifully and had everything that we would need! No false advertisement with this beautiful cabin. This is definitely a come back too!!!!!
This home is exactly as stated!! We loved our stay here and the views!! The hot tub is a wonderful bonus. We also loved being able to cook our own meals.
Wonderful neighbor and his sweet dog checked to see if we needed anything, we felt right at home!! We will be back for our anniversary vacation again! Nowhere weâd rather be!!
We love this house! This house is very comfortable and pretty house with a great view. It was a drive up a gravel driveway but nothing too bad. This house is very close to downtown Bryson City is well as cherokee and the casino. The yard was a wonderful touch. I loved having good curtains in the bedrooms. We also loved the open concept. Thank you, Christina for everything.
Oh, one more important thing! Lately most of the places that we stay have one or two days of supplies. Not only was there hand soap and dish soap but also coffee filters and some spices. This was great!
Overall a cute place at an okay value.
PROS:
- Size and layout were perfect for our family of five
- Decor was really cute
- Kids loved the play area near the firepit
- The game area was super inviting - our family finished a game of Monopoly for the first time ever!
- Kitchen was well equipped. We cooked several meals and were able to find everything we needed.
Small Cons
- An inadequate amount of consumables were provided. We had to purchase our own coffee filters and paper towel, and quite nearly ran out of toilet paper as well.
- We also had to purchase an allergen-free laundry detergent since the one used in the cabin was making us break out in rashes just from the sheets and towels.
-The host asks guests to drive to the dump any trash that doesn't fit into the outside can - which seems reasonable until you realize that the outside can fits no more than three bags.
BIG CON: The Road
This one makes the other cons more salient. The map makes it look like this place is in town. No, it is on a mountain. The last 5-6 minutes of the drive is a twisty, turny, steep one-car path. Holy heck, we almost didn't make it up a few times. And when we met a car coming down, we had to back down until we found a place to pull into. Not at all a relaxing vacation experience. Thankfully, the weather was dry for our entire stay so we were able to get in and out successfully. But we did question whether we *actually* needed to go into town since the drive was such a pain - and I literally don't think we could have stayed here in wet weather. The worst part of all - once you finally get up to the top, you can hear highway traffic and dogs barking all day and night. The neighbors were really nice but very close by. If we had known what the road up was like, we never would have stayed here. Now, in all fairness, the host did try to send us a video of the drive up but was never able to get it to us in a format we could view. If you are comfortable or familiar with mountain driving, or have a four wheel drive vehicle, you probably won't have any issues. If you are a family from suburban Michigan in a minivan, please think twice about staying here.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in November! Short drive to Bryson City and the National Park. Cabin was clean, cozy, and well stocked. The Christmas tree and decorations were a special surprise! We especially enjoyed the fireplace and porch. Host was prompt to respond to questions and so kind and accommodating.
Great quick weekend getaway for my wifeâs birthday. Cabin was perfect! Enjoyed the views, hot tub, and especially the attention to all the small details! Rode the train in Bryson City, which was a big hit with kids.
We were welcomed with a bottle of wine. The cabin was nicely decorated and had everything and more. Loved the hot tub, amazing views, and roasting marshmallows by the fire. Location was optimal for river rafting, exploring waterfall trails and Smokey Mountain National Park. Thanks for the memories. We did lose a pair of earbuds while there, hoping they might be found.
We family arrived, the 2 kids were amazed and surprised by continuous findings of the house design, furniture style, and entertainment equipment. It is absolutely so careful design by the host!
Loved our stay . Cabin was very clean and quiet. We loved all the extras like the toys and games. Our kids liked the swing set and play house toi. We would definitely stay there again.
Great access to Bryson City and Cherokee. Deep Creek national park tubing just around the corner. Such a nice, secluded retreat that you will not want to go anywhere.
Cute cabin with everything we needed and the scenery from the deck was gorgeous. I, however, found the road to the cabin overwhelming and felt "stuck" once there. But that is just me and for those who are comfortable driving up a one lane mountain road will find it adds to the charm.
Loved the small cabin feel. Very clean cabin and my wife loved the small surprise with the bottle of wine. Kids loved all board games and ring toss. Good view of the mountains, enjoyed a place for the kids to play outside in the kid size cabin and swings. Donât be intimidated by the drive up to the cabin itâs worth it and canât wait to go back. Thank you!
We had such an amazing time at Southern Comfort! The house was immaculate and had everything we needed and more. First off, the Mountain View from the back porch was incredible and made every meal truly memorable. We spent most of the days in Bryson City âzip lining, tubing and at the NOC. Our afternoons were spent in the hot tub and cooking yummy dinners in this cozy cabin. The only think we couldnât do was take advantage of the fire pit because it rained most nights. This was the perfect spot for a family of four and we hope to return one day soon!
Overall the house was really nice, hottub was great, and back porch was one of our favorite places. But the road leading to the property was terrible, at best. It was washed out, extremely muddy, and hard to navigate. So if you plan on bringing your motorcycle or even going in and out often, I wouldn't really recommend this property.
Beautiful cabin in a quiet area in mountain. This cabin was everything we were looking for: large enough for a family, yard space, isolated with great view. Really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was near Smoky Mountain National Park and other outdoor points of interest.
Great place for some quite personal/family time. Only minutes from restaurants, shops and things to do but secluded enough to feel like you have truly gotten away.
Everything about this cabin was perfect. All details were covered and all of the conveniences of home (plus some) were at our fingertips. The hot tub was great, the rooms were gorgeous, and the living space and kitchen were perfect for hanging out and playing games. The view is gorgeous and the outside sitting/fire pit and swings were icing on the cake. This cabin is exactly as described and we had the best experience. The property owner was very communicative and made sure we had everything we needed. I will say that you may want to figure out how to access the DVD player before you get there, if youâd like to watch movies. We couldnât figure it out, but it didnât matter enough to us. The town was fun and Iâd recommend driving up to Cherokee to see the elk in the field during the early morning - itâs only a 15 minute drive and so worth it. We also rode the train and that was an amazing adventure also. This place was way better than staying at any hotel Iâve ever stayed at. We have a family of 5 and we fit comfortably. I love that we got to stay here and I would 100% recommend it to anyone.
First off, the cabin itself is beautiful and spacious. It was just the two of us but could easily have fit 3-4 more in there. The grill worked easily and the gas stove was awesome. We used the fire pit also and met the great neighbors. The problems were minor mostly but made our stay frustrating. We had two televisions with non working remotes. We even bought batteries and still no cigar. The two TVs were stuck on one channel the entire stay. Secondly, the ice maker didnât work. For ice hogs like us that was a pain and again we had to go off to the store for ice.
Thirdly, the upstairs squeaks every step you take. When you combine that with the squeaky master bed, it makes sleeping the whole night impossible If anyone gets up in the middle of the night. Finally the internet is slow. One last thing, take a truck or high up car for the stay. The road up to the cabin is awful and full of holes.

I purchased this cabin with the dream of sharing the cabin experience with others. I am an Interior Designer and actually graduated Design school from Western Carolina University not far from Bryson City. I decorated this home for you to feel the quaintness of a farmhouse and all the farmhouse furniture in this cabin is custom built by myself and my fiance with 100-year-old barn wood. I used to visit Bryson City every year with my three sons and they always enjoyed it and we made many family memories. I hope that you will make this your home during your stay and make many fond memories as well.
