Close to Thames without the noise.
Typical to the area two family house, recently remodeled but stands out with plenty of parking and outdoor space for both units.
Santo Mar is a beautiful house. It's impeccably clean and everything in the house feels brand new. All three bedrooms are large and the master is huge with it's own full bathroom. The location couldn't be better for all of downtown Newport's offerings; there's space for you to park two cars in the driveway but you can walk to everything. My wife and I could not have been happier with the house and our extended stay in Newport.
Absolutely amazing house and property in the absolute best location. Tom and Eileen are fantastic hosts that provided us with everything we needed an more. Will certainly look to rent again.
Simply amazing! Great location and a wonderful house.
My family rents houses frequently and we have been very fortunate to stay in some great homes. This one by far was the best experience we've had. Everything was well thought out. Thank you! This was one of the best vacations we've had.
This house was recently redecorated and it shows. It is perfectly located within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Parking is a premium in Newport, so it was great that there were two spaces for us. When we squeezed, we could put 3 cars on our side although they had to be parked tandem. The unit itself had been modernized and was well equipped. There is a lovely back yard. We would definitely choose it again.
We had a great vacation. The house is newly renovated and absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of room for family to stay comfortably. The house is in a great location, just a half a block off of Thames Street. It was an easy walk to restaurants, shops and the wharf.
Eileen and Tomas are wonderful people, and were so attentive and responsive to anything we needed or asked during our stay. Santo Mar is a well-appointed, spacious and great property. Location is very central and was ideal for us as first-time Newport visitors who wanted to see many different parts of the area. The upstairs unit was only partially occupied during our stay, and even when it was the families were gone much of the time so noise was not an issue in general, and everybody we met was very nice. We had a great time at Santo Mar - thank you Tomas and Eileen!
A perfect location for walking to restaurants, shops and coffee shops!
The house was clean, comfortable and perfectly stocked for cooking in! We all weee very happy to have found this house! I highly recommend this property.
This was my fourth trip to Newport, but the first with my husband and teenage kids, and we all give Santo Mar a 5 star rating . BRAND NEW yet warm and cozy, the owners did not miss a beat. The location is amazing- just a short walk to town or the Cliffs. On-site parking is a bonus. Our favorite night was spent grilling on the patio, chit chatting around the island in the kitchen and then piling on to the oversized couch in the living room to play board games when it rained.
It was a family fun weekend that I wonât soon forget. Highly recommend for families or groups of friends. A great and comfortable way to experience Newport.
Great vacation place. Excellent location Beds very clean and very comfortable Spacious living room Fun to hang out with family Kitchen well equipped I would go back in a heartbeat
My husband and I had looked for property for over a year. It was all about finding the perfect location. We went up on my birthday and found this property. We know it was a diamond in the rough. The backyard was overgrown and the rooms made no sense but there was something special about the location. We walked into the backyard and found a little oasis and a life-size statue of Jesus.
After digging a little deeper we discovered, it was owned by the same family for multiple generations, a Portuguese family who had owned the property since 1762. The house was in disrepair and the last permit pulled to complete work was in 1952. We bought it and lived through a huge learning curve of what it meant to rebuild a house in Newport. Three years to the day after we purchased the property was the first night we spent in the house.
Surprisingly, through all the building and construction Jesus remained untouched in the yard. He now has a place in the back garden and helped us name the property Santo Mar which translates in Portuguese to Saint Sea. My husband immigrated from Guimaraes, Portugal as a teenager and later moved back to run his familyâs bed and breakfast in the Algarve. Creating a comfortable vacation property is in his blood.
This beautiful house in the heart of it all has modern features with a backyard made for relaxing and grilling with family. Parking is hard to find in Newport but here you will have two coveted spots.
