Beautiful architectural gem of a home with all of the needs one might have for a stay in the Hudson suburbs. Excellent communication with the owner. Easy as it could be at a reasonable cost. Highly recommend.
Wonderful property. Very clean and modern. Property was ideal for two couples and children for the weekend. Kitchen well stocked. WiFi and TV options worked well. Really terrific place with amazing views
Great house with exceptional views. Watched the sun set on the Catskills mountains every night from the roof deck. Very helpful and responsive owner and property manager - even fresh eggs! Excellent location. We had a fabulous vacation!
My family thoroughly enjoyed our week in Nayanaâs gorgeous home. The view is breathtaking, the location is tranquil, and the interiors are so thoughtfully curated. All of our needs were met, with a full kitchen set up and fresh herbs in the garden. We all had our own comfortable space (with reading nooks galore!). We are grateful for the hospitality of Nayana, who made sure we were settled in and our trip to Ghent was magical.
The house is beautiful as well as is the property. Nice quite location. The house is very spacious. Kitchen is nicely appointed with all the necessary equipment. Everything worked out perfectly for our family get together
The house is simply stunning. It is beautiful, well kept, clean, and has amazing views. It is situated in a convenient location to nature walks, hiking, stores, and restaurants. The host was extremely easy to reach and very friendly! I hope to come back again soon!
We had a wonderful stay at the property. The house is very clean and stocked with everything one might need during the stay. The property is lovely and serene, a great escape from busy life. Thank you Nayana for sharing the home with us. Thank you to Kim for being so caring and accommodating. We look forward to the next stay.
This is a lovely country home with beautiful, eclectic furnishings, and every
comfort. Plenty of room for all 6 of us, comfortable beds, great art and a view to gaze at forever. I woke up one morning to see a deer outside my window leaping up into their apple tree ! The pool was wonderful and the surrounding countryside lush and green.
We had breakfast on the loggia every morning gazing out at the deer and Catskill Mountains in the distance. I would highly recommend this home, we truly enjoyed our stay !
We had a great stay in this lovely Gent house. Our grandchildren loved the pool even with a chill in the air. The beds were comfy and the kitchen well stocked with everything you need for cooking. We enjoyed the artwork, books, but most of all, the gorgeous views of the Catskills and Hunter Mt. We loved the little town of Kinderhook just âaround the cornerâ and, of course, Art Omi. It was very kind of the deer to visit us each day too.
Thanks to Nayana and Kim for their quick responses to our questions. And did I mention that one of the books we read was written by the owner, Nayana? đ
My husband, my mom and my young child stayed at this lovely family home for our annual fall foliage trip. We had a peaceful and comfortable stay. The house is very private, we saw deer every day, location and proximity to trails and scenic sites was fantastic and the views of fall foliage from the house were stunning.
Me and my childhood friends stayed here for our annual girls' weekend. The house was beautiful and the views were breathtaking. Every morning we had coffee on the upstairs patio overlooking the mountains. In the evening we watched the sunset from the downstairs patio. We were visited by frolicking deer and a symphony of katydids. The pool area is a little lackluster but the water was refreshing and definitely good enough for us to spend most of our time in it. We went into Hudson for brunch one day but then rushed back to enjoy lounging around this stunning house. Nayana and her helpers were amazing and very responsive. We will remember this trip forever!
Beautiful home with beautiful views. Perfect for our cousins weekend. Room to gather inside and out. Owners were responsive and easy to deal with. Would stay again if the opportunity presents itself
This property is magical. The sunsets are breathtaking, the pool area is peaceful and lovely, and the home itself is beautifully designed, with all of the amenities you could desire. The art, some of which was created by the owner, is interesting, quirky and fun. We had a spectacular 3 day stay with our group of 7 friends to celebrate a milestone birthday. There were plenty of places to hang out and talk, and a great kitchen table for group meals, as well as privacy and restful spaces for naps and relaxation. Many nearby attractions include Art Omi and the towns of Hudson and Ghent, with coffee shops and galleries. Our host, Nayana, and the property manager, Kim, are friendly, accommodating and responsive, and just a delight. We truly enjoyed our stay, and already want to plan our return. A 3 day weekend felt like a restful weekâs vacation. Just superb.
This property is lovely inside and out with great views and a comfortable layout that worked perfectly for three couples. The bedrooms each have their own bathroom and the common spaces make enjoying each other's company easy. The owner is wonderful and worked with us to make our stay special. We're already talking about when we can go back...
Perfect Getaway for Families (including toddlers) and Friends
I can't begin to explain Nayana's magical property and impeccably clean home. We stayed for two weeks with our three year old daughter and were so very sad to leave. PERFECTLY located between the Catskills and the Berkshires, we had an infinite amount of activities, restaurants, farmers markets, ice cream shops, toy stores, etc at our disposal. The property itself is nature's paradise - we saw a family of deer daily and a variety of other animals. The pool was wonderful - not heated, but never a problem. The outdoor area is perfect for grilling and relaxing. The layout of the home is also perfect for guests - the grandparents came for a few days and with one guest bedroom on the first floor, it made the experience of vacationing with a toddler seamless. Also Nayana and her on-site support couldnt be more attentive and helpful. Best VRBO i've ever stayed in! If you dont book here, you're truly missing out!
Nice home, set amidst the woods in Ghent, not far from Hudson. Good spaces, pretty environs.
Only issues were spotty internet, which was not robust enough to handle a work environment (video calls, etc.).
Also, keep your good off of the kitchen counter and/or wrap tightly as there are lots of ants eager to get your scraps.
The architectural details, art, and beauty of this home are spectacular. We enjoyed the amazing view of the Catskills from each window and from the balcony on the 3rd floor. The sunsets were truly spectacular - even my young children delighted in watching the sun slip behind the mountain range each evening. The home was wonderful to experience - we loved the juxtaposition of traditional Indian elements and modern accents, wood and glass... and the opportunity to admire the beautiful textiles, paintings, sculpture, and books so thoughtfully curated in this comfortable home. The home was very well-equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, ample linens, first aid kit, children's toys and games, and useful literature about the region.
Our children loved exploring the property and spotting the deer and birds in the yard. We also loved visiting the art omni, talking daily walks by the nearby horse farm, and visiting nearby Hudson.
The owner and property manager were very responsive, kind, and communicative.
Thank you for this wonderful getaway!
We enjoyed our stay immensely. The kitchen suited our intimate thanksgiving retreat for three together with the lovely location. The property was exactly as described.
The house and property were as beautiful and scenic as depicted in the listing. A very special place in a great location. While it was hard to get ourselves to leave the stunning property we did enjoy nature walks, cultural sites and dining in the surrounding area. I would highly recommend renting this house.
We had an amazing time at Nayanaâs house in Ghent. The house itself is spectacular and the views amazing. We truly felt like we were on vacation this week even though we werenât far from home. We stocked up on items we needed at Love Apple Farm and Hannaford and had dinner delivered one night from La Bellaâs. The kids had a ball all day at the pool. Nayana and Kim were a pleasure to coordinate with - thank you. We will definitely return.
I believe we were the first group to spend a month at this lovely house and it was a great getaway during Covid. There was plenty of space for our family of four plus our nanny and the decor in the house is beautiful. The yard and the pool were great and the view is amazing. Stunning sunsets nightly.
We had only a few minor reasons for contacting the owner and house manager but they were always incredibly prompt with their replies and help.
I will only add this one caveat in case anyone is planning to work from home while staying there - the internet service was incredibly slow, due in part to the pandemic. I was able to procure a wifi hotspot from my employer which helped. Just thought it was worth mentioning as many people are WFH currently.
Thanks again to Nayana and Kim for making it a great stay !!
This was our second visit to the house. Beautiful home on a lovely property with great views. Owner is very responsive and logistics smooth. Altogether a great experience. Highly recommend

My husband and myself are from India, but have lived in New York City for forty years, so we are from both places. I am an author and my husband is a sculptor and architect.
We have owned this property for more than twenty years, and it is truly our magical, happy place. We love the area for its natural beauty, and its thriving artists' community. It is close to Art Omi, and a short drive to Olana House and Thomas Cole House. It is also not too far from small museum gems such as the Clarke and Norman Mailer Museums. Over the years, we have seen the region grow in sophistication and popularity - with fantastic restaurants bars, antique and lifestyle shops in the nearby towns of Hudson and Chatham.
The house was designed by my husband, an architect, completed six years ago. The three roofs of the modern house are, in his words, "paying homage to the mountains". The house, which has been published in design magazines, has unique features such as antique fruit-wood Buddhist columns on the patio, solid teak wood doors and stair risers, hand carved marble tiles and screens in the bathrooms, and at the entrance, antique wood beds from India. It is our beloved dream home, filled with our eccentric collection of art, photographs and books. We have a stone "folly" in the garden, and an Allhambra like carved marble screen with a fountain jet over it at the pool. Mostly, our guests love our home too.
