Casa Cowee, une maison de style île rustique récemment rénovée située dans un domaine privé luxuriant d'un hectare, nichée dans la communauté chaleureuse et conviviale de Sandy Bay, offre des vues spectaculaires sur des millions de dollars des Caraïbes et des espaces de vie riches et variés - une spacieuse maison principale avec chambre avec lit king size et mezzanine avec lit queen ou ajoutez un lit simple et une grande terrasse couverte où les amis se retrouvent pour un petit-déjeuner et un cocktail en soirée. 200-pied piscine quai de Casa Cowee (parfois apprécié par nos voisins) et front de mer tranquille fournissent pêche illimitée, plongée en apnée (récif en face de la propriété), la natation, la plongée, observation des dauphins, et la possibilité d'explorer la vie marine colorée dans le sable Réserve marine Fin Bay / Ouest.
Nous avons ajouté un double à nos deux kayaks simples pour votre plaisir et nous vous fournissons du matériel de plongée en apnée pour votre séjour. Vous pouvez ainsi créer un forfait vacances de rêve en réservant des visites à l'avance, des sorties de plongée avec tuba et de pêche avec nos propres gestionnaires d'immeubles, Channin et Kim Bodden.
Situé sur notre plage à quelques minutes à pied, vous trouverez le restaurant Blue Bahia Beach, le bar-restaurant Tranquil Seas et de nombreux autres restaurants locaux. Pour la plongée sur notre plage, vous avez les plongeurs Roatan à Blue Bahia, Tranquil Seas et Anthony's Key.
Ce bord de mer ainsi que la pluie propriété unique de la forêt se trouve à quelques 10 min. conduire à West End Village pour manger, faire du shopping et un grand divertissement du soir. Tous les résidents et les touristes s’amusent à Roatan.
20 min. de l'aéroport. Nous pouvons réserver votre trajet avec arrêt d'épicerie, puis de retour à l'aéroport.

La maison est entourée de vastes terrasses offrant une vie en plein air élégante avec un paysage tropical luxuriant et de superbes couchers de soleil. Il y a une nouvelle cabane de barbecue au charbon de bois qui est un excellent endroit pour se réunir
Pour dormir, une grande chambre principale privée avec un nouveau lit king-size et un grand loft dans la partie principale avec un nouveau lit queen Un seul peut être ajouté sur demande. Il y a une nouvelle salle de bain deux pièces dans le grenier.
Nous venons d'ajouter une autre gamme complète Casa Cowee pour répondre aux couples qui veulent quarts couchage / baignoire séparée. Ceci est une unité ensoleillée magnifique donnant sur l'eau avec sa propre petite cuisine, salle de bain de 3 pc et espace de vie avec un lit queen. Il a deux ponts privés. Il peut être ajouté à la location de la maison principale pour 85 $. 00 par nuit. Sur la photo dans les trois dernières photos de la liste.

Nous vous invitons à profiter de notre maison de famille. Venez vivre dans une île paradisiaque - vous détendre sur votre véranda privée donnant sur la mer des Caraïbes bleu profond, refroidi par les alizés et entouré par le parfum de belles fleurs tropicales.

Le Temple Tree House, romantique et privé, offre une vue frontale sur l’eau depuis deux ponts. Une grande chambre avec placard 8 '. Grande salle de bain avec douche 7 '. Beaux planchers de bois. Cuisine avec de nouveaux appareils. Pas de pont avant directement sur la plage. Cette maison est louée séparément mais peut bien sûr être incluse dans la location de la maison principale sur demande.

Depuis que j'ai acheté Casa Cowee en 2013, nous avons apporté de nombreuses améliorations et la propriété est maintenant entièrement clôturée et fermée. Jose le gardien est sur la propriété essentiellement 24 heures sur 24, 7 jours sur 7 Cette île est une merveilleuse oasis et il n’est pas nécessaire de vivre dans une communauté fermée. Les insulaires sont merveilleux et serviables.
Le site VRBO ne permet que des réductions pour les séjours mensuels. Si vous réservez 2 semaines, nous honorerons une réduction de 10% et pour un mois une réduction de 20%.

A perfect island getaway

We loved staying at this property. Everything was attended to by Jose. We ate fresh lobster, conch, pineapple and the vegetable truck came directly to the house upon request. Everyday we see kayaked, snorkeled, swam and enjoyed the sunset. An absolutely beautiful view caps off the perfect comfort and convenience of this place.

Unforgettable Getaway

I booked this property on short notice and the host, Suzanne immediately responded to all my questions. When we arrive we were greeted by Jose, the caretaker and he took our bags to the house showed us around. The house is a little older but it is warm and inviting and the new pool is perfect to cool off, the views were astounding! Jose arranged for a fishing/snorkel tour and we caught a black fin tuna and the boat crew made ceviche with it, absolutely delicious! All around wonderful mini vacation, I will be booking again in the near future!

Christmas 2024

My family of four with 2 teenage boys stayed for the week of Christmas in 2024What we loved about the house: The layout of the house is highly functional - kitchen with countertop seating, right off the living room with a round dining table. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook including olive oil. We played card games and put together puzzles when it was raining. Master bedroom bed was very comfortable with great lighting for reading in bed. The owner put an extra twin bed in loft so my boys didn't have to share a bed which they appreciated. I appreciated the nice deck to watch my boy fish and snorkel from the dock and also to be able to sit outside even if it was raining. There are 2 restaurants within walking distance. We thought the food was amazing at The Sunken FishHighly recommend night and day snorkeling in the West End. Search Facebook for Cory's Snorkeling tours. He picked us up for the day snorkeling, got us reserved chairs on the beach and help us rent jet skis later in the day. The snorkeling was the highlight or our trip. We went on a day that no cruise ships were in port. The only thing that we didn't like was that the neighborhood shot off firecrackers which sounded like M80s - but guessing that's only during the holidays. The owner Suzanne was great with communication and Jose was always available if we needed anything.

The Perfect Spot!

We were a group of 6 adult family members. Most everything about Casa Cowee perfect. Jose and Channin are awesome and were available to help us with anything we needed. The snorkeling is fantastic all over out front, especially along the side of dolphin pen on side closest to house. It was very very hard leaving today.

Fantastic!!

A fantastic place!!, This was our second visit in the last few years. Amazing view and location. A Unique place, rustic caribbean charm. Reminds me of a place I grew up. Great snorkeling and diving right out front! Great restaurants and dive shops a very short walk down the beach. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Paradise found!

Suzanne’s place was definitely a place to relax and rejuvenate! It reminds me of an updated Swiss Family Robinson’s Tree House. The property is amazing, clean and has everything you need to feel at home. Jose is great! He helped us with everything from luggage to taking us to the best snorkel spot. We loved being surrounded by the local people. They are very sweet spirited and greet you with a smile and friendly ‘holla! Suzanne is very fond of the people and they of her. BONUS - from the gazebo you can watch the dolphins play in their sanctuary next door. You can also kayak or swim from the beach to their pen and see them up close. We can’t wait to go back to Casa Cowee bring other friends and family. Next time we plan a longer stay😍

Bug out!

I am not really able to give a comprehensive review because we didn’t even spend the first night there. We were run out by bugs inside Casa Cowee late in the evening after traveling all day. The host was very accusatory—I am not sure how I am responsible for this situation. Although it says no pets, there are 5 or 6 cats living there/food and water bowls by the front door. Although she had the place sprayed for bugs 3 weeks ago, bugs were everywhere inside the house. Even in the bed. I have photos. We looked forward to this trip for months, we had to vacate and wound up in a horrible place in West Bay for the duration of our trip.

The Perfect Place in Roatan

Casa Cowee was perfect! We stayed there 9 amazing days. The place is absolutely stunning and Jose, the caretaker was wonderful, helping us with any needs or questions. We loved the view, especially the beautiful sunsets each night. I was worried about bugs, which were no problem at all. There are 3 great restaurants and beach bars nearby with live music 3 times during our stay. We were glad to be in a home rather than in noisy West Bay or the West End. The snorkeling is amazing right off the beach. Casa Cowee is also right beside Anthony's Key where they study dolphins. We could see them from the beautiful deck. We absolutely loved our stay and felt it was the best place to be on the island. I have visited over 20 islands and will probably return to Casa Cowee.

A nice beach house in a great location

This house and the Casitas are just across from Anthony's key resort and walking distance to the Botanical gardens which should not be missed either. Jose the house manager helped us set up horseback riding on the beach and was very helpful. He cut fresh mangos and opened the coconuts up for us. The dock was nice but there was no ladder so climbing out was necessary by hoisting yourself up. The outdoor porch and deck were a great place to hang out. I think the bathroom in the big house was a bit rustic compared to the others. We used the outdoor shower instead which was fine. Overall a great place to stay.

New years Holiday w/family of 6

This was a trip with my grown children and their +1. The property is one in a million, everything we could ask for plus. I think our kids appreciated it more once we took a drive down to West Bay and West End. The location is peaceful, safe and cared for. We loved our time at the house, swimming off the dock and snorkeling at our leisure. The view is beautiful and so relaxing not being in the heart of all the tourist chaos. Suzanne (the owner) has classic taste, the house is well appointed and cared after. Jose, the caretaker is conscious and attentive. He knew our coming and going and was always there to greet us. We did have a fair amount of rain, but it didn't matter as we could all catch up on sleeping in! Suzanne, thank you for sharing your home and Jose, thank you for making our trip memorable! All the best in 2024!

The best. We will be back!

Casa Cowee was a great experience. The house was brilliantly designed in the 70s and has lots of island charm and character. And intelligence, too! It's many louvered windows and fans were perfect for air circulation. The house and decks look out on the sea, with the reef just a 100 yards out. We cooked and lounged and read all day. Jose (the caretaker/gardener – oh, the grounds are beautiful too) was terrific. He brought us extra water, snorkeling equipment, and even fresh limes from the trees in the garden. The property managers were charming and informative as well. Everything worked for us, including the excellent communication with the host.

Gorgeous eco lodges on the water

Our group of one mom and 3 college-aged young people enjoyed our stay at this lush property - complete with a giant mango tree and peaceful deck with stunning Caribbean views and several lodging options depending on your group size. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the hammocks or pool overlooking the water. We walked to two of the local restaurants for dinner on several occasions and we often enjoyed amazing breakfasts cooked with fresh eggs on the property and cantaloupe-sized mangos, both happily provided by Jose the ever attentive property manager. Both Jose and the resident cat-ambassador, Jack, made us feel safe and at home. Speaking of safety, the property is secured but a gait, important to us as it was our first trip to Roatan. We found the locals to be welcoming and we never questioned our safety. We elected to not rent a car an used transportation arranged by Jose whenever we needed it. If you are visiting Roatan, you are here for the water. We went out several times by boat to snorkel at some of the healthiest reefs we have ever seen. You will of course hit the more popular sites like the "aquarium" but I highly recommend less visited sites like Palmetto I took an amazing yoga class at Sun Yoga. And this location is right next to Anthony's Key resorts where we you can see happy dolphins performing or in training AND they are let out regularly, returning of their own free will! Can't say enough about the level of service that Jose provides, unsurpassed.

5 Stars isnt enough

Where to start? This property had all the elements my wife and I were looking for. We loved waking up to the sound of the dolphins playing every morning. In the evenings we felt like we were getting a very "local" experience, as we could hear the children playing on our dock (which we loved!) Having the two bars just down the beach was a huge plus for my wife and I, and I strongly recommend trying Bruces' world famous rum punch at the Blue Bahia beach bar. The home itself is magical. I love all of the stone work and landscaping! The live in hand (Jose) that stays on and maintains the grounds was a top notch guy. He washed our car every morning for us. All around great place to stay!

All I can say is WOW! We have always stayed at all inclusive properties. What a waste.

Casa Cowee is the ultimate on Roatan. The views are stunning! Sunsets you don’t have to pay for! You just walk out the door!!! You don’t have to walk 15 minutes to a dock. We had a hard time deciding which deck we wanted to sit on During the day and the new pool with relaxing fountain. The pool is. Like a quiet oasis. I read two books. Had lots of fun down the beach at restaurants. Snorkeling in the very healthy reef out front we did daily with their kayaks. We also did a snorkeling tour with Channin Bodden the property manager picked up on our dock. Jose, the property care taker took care of everything for us24/7. Very impressed.

Our Happy Place

Our family of 9 with ages ranging from 19 to 75 stayed for the last week of June at Suzanne's piece of paradise. My SO and I stayed at the Temple Treehouse several years ago and loved it so much we wanted to share it with our family. We rented the entire property - Casa Cowee, Casita, and Temple Treehouse. All of the rooms were clean and comfortable and the group appreciated having lots of space to spread out. We especially loved time on the main deck at Casa Cowee and the upper pool where a beautiful sunset view could be enjoyed while sipping a cold drink and floating in the cool water. The kitchens are all well appointed, even for a group as large as ours, and the propane grill is great for cooking out. On nights when we chose not to cook, a 5 minute walk up the beach took us to a great beach bar and grill where they knew us by name by the end of the week. We took advantage of the snorkeling equipment several times and enjoyed exploring the reef off the dock right in front of the house. We also used the kayaks to explore the nearby shorlines. Jose did an absolutely awesome job taking care of us during our stay. Without ever being intrusive he was always present when we needed his help, beginning with welcoming us on arrival and helping carry our bags and groceries up to the houses. He responded happily to our every request, no matter what it was. Mom especially loved walking the property with him and learning about all of the beautiful landscaping. Can't wait to return!!

Idyllic tropical island location. Well appointed home with covered deck perfect for sunset cocktail

This is one of the best trips I have ever had. Beautiful views, clean,comfortable, accommodations. General managers Channin and Kim were warm and welcoming. The rock star treatment when we were met at the airport started the. Island stay with a pleasant note, rather than the stress and headaches usually associated with luggage retrieval and clearing customs. That property manager Jose was available every time we needed something and he kept the beach swept and grounds groomed. Take earplugs. The wind can be very loud, and the beach is public. The people on the beach were friendly, polite and helpful. They also like to have fun on beach at night, another reason for earplugs, but the party noise included guitars and laughter, no vulgar language. Great experience at Casa Cowee!

My family of 5 ranging from age 3-75 stayed at Casa Cowee for a week in March. We had a great time! The place is wonderful, a rustic style yet super comfortable. The view can't be beat. You can see the dolphins frolicing at Anthony's Key, boats coming and going, and locals on the beach road and dock just below the house. With that in mind, be aware that the beach is also a road and path and it's a local residential area, so there is some vehicle noise and we heard nearby residents playing loud music a couple nights. It wasn't super disruptive but if you're looking for that "deserted beach" feel this isn't quite it. Don't let that discourage you though! The patio is SOOOO pleasant and the swimming pool was perfect, especially for our kids who loved it. And because it's right on the deck they could play and be supervised easily. Jose, the property caretaker, is just lovely and will come help with anything you need at any time. The property managers Shannin and Kimberlee were also very helpful and kind when we met them. The "casita" is a studio unit under the master bedroom of the main house. It has totally separate entrances if desired but since we were using both units our mom was able to come directly up in the morning and join us for breakfast without walking around. There is also another unit (the Treehouse) on the same property that shares a common grill and pathway. Overall, I highly recommend a stay at Casa Cowee!

A slice of paradise

We just spent a week over Christmas at the property - me, my husband, my parents, and our 4 year old son. We loved our stay. The house is so interesting and beautifully crafted. My parents loved having their own small “apartment” that have them some privacy. The house was clean, spacious, comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook, which we did most nights with the inexpensive and readily available fresh seafood. The deck area overlooking the ocean and facing the sunsets cannot be beat, oh how I miss those evenings watching the sun go down over the ocean! As others have mentioned, Jose and Channin were so helpful and lovely to interact with. Jose helped us pull the kayaks to the beach and we would kayak in front of the property, snorkeling along the reef that stretches in front of the property and as far down as you can see. We did two snorkeling trips with Channin that were awesome, and my husband also did an early morning fishing trip in our last day. We also dove with blue Bahia dive shop which was a quick walk down the beach (and who also has delicious food). We were lucky enough to get to meet Suzanne the property owner also, who was In town during our stay. All in all, it was a wonderful week and the beautiful property was the best place to go back to after a day of exploring. we hope to return!

Casa Cowee: Unforgettable!

We stayed at the Casa for a week and loved it! The house has incredible views of the ocean throughout! The kitchen was a main gathering place (2nd to the main deck) and was well-equipped! The house is so unique, beautifully decorated, + very comfortable. There was always a breeze + it was so nice to breathe in fresh air 24/7! The grounds are gorgeous with foliage that made it feel like paradise! The new private pool was a nice feature as well! Felt at home the whole time! We loved the snorkeling - both out front of the casa as well as an excursion over towards the West Bay. We took the kayaks out and it was nice to have access to those at our whim. Suzanne was a nice host! Jose was available to help with anything we needed + shared eggs from his chickens! Channin was helpful, drove us everywhere + had great recommendations. Both quickly felt like family friends! We stopped at Eldon's on the way from the airport, which has just about anything you would want. There is also a market that's walkable from the casa. We walked to several great restaurants down the beach + walked over to the Carambola Gardens across the main road, where we hiked a jungle trail to the top of the mountain for a nice view of the bay! There is traffic on the beach as it serves as a road, which was a little unexpected, but we got used to the sporadic noise from scooters. Folks around the area are very polite + we felt safe. Views, snorkeling, + atmosphere were spectacular! We hope to return!

28 Days in Paradise

My family and friends (in shifts) spent a wonderful 4 week vacation at Casa Cowee! The location in Sandy Bay is superb and if you like snorkeling, you'll really love this location. Snorkeling right out in front (especially if you cross over the reef) is some of the best I've done in a while. Kayaks for 4 people were an added bonus. If you get tired of the ocean there is a great little pool tucked away at the back where you can relax and read a book or take a refreshing dip. Some great restaurants down the beach; our favourite was Sunken Fish...try the Chickpea Curry! We bought most of our fresh fruit and veggies a two minute walk down the road at a local stand.(a few words of Spanish would be helpful but not essential) Jose (Suzanne's right hand man) arranged for some fresh fish for us and was always available to help us with whatever we needed. He is amazing and we enjoyed seeing his smiling face every day! Suzanne is lovely and was also available to help with anything we needed. There are some local dogs that bark at night and a rooster that starts crowing at 3:00 so a good set of earplugs would come in handy! Other than that, I highly recommend Casa Cowee and am sure your holiday will be a magical one that you will not forget anytime soon !

Simply Amazing!!

Casa Cowee is truly a special place! My wife and I, and our two children (ages 11 and 12) stayed for 12 days in the beginning of June - and it was a trip of a lifetime. We are avid snorkelers - and the snorkeling on Roatan is amazing - but the best part is some of the best reef is directly in front of the property and accessible from the pier. Moreover, there are other nearby reef sections perfect for snorkeling that you can get to by Kayak. Night Snorkeling from this area is amazing as well - too many octopus to count! The property itself is amazing if you are not looking to be in town. We felt like we were living in the middle of the jungle (because we were) and loved every part of it. But I cannot go any further without saying how perfect it is to have JOSE on the property. He was awesome, and our family grew close to him over the short time we were there - he was there to assist with anything and everything - and made us feel really secure and like nothing could go wrong. Super nice gentlemen, and Jose absolutely made our stay at Casa Cowee that much more special. The location is great as well - 10-15 minutes to West End if you want to go that way - but there are 3 great restaurants within walking distance as well. THe restaurant at Anthony's Key was top notch (food, staff, everything) - and Blue Bahia had a perfect small diving hotel/restaurant vibe to it. The owners were great - and we spent hours there hanging out as well.

Atmosphere abounds

We had an issue with the first rental we reserved and found the "Tranquil One Acre" otherwise known as Casa Cowee in time for our vacation. First of all Suzanne Boyce, the owner, is an absolutely wonderful communicator. She responded to all my questions quickly and clearly. We met her on our first day there and she is really sweet. We also met the property Manager Channin Bodden and his wife Kimberley when we arrived and they too are exceptionally nice and fun people. We booked a tour of the island with Channin and he gave us more than our money's worth. Very Informative. Jose is the caretaker who lives in a separate house on the property. I downloaded Whatsapp and it was great to communicate with Jose and Channin, and Jose was extremely prompt and helpful with our requests. The property is not new and shiny like a fancy hotel, but it has character and atmosphere that was hard to beat. We spent a lot of time on the covered deck, enjoying the cool breezes, the view of the Dolphin shows and awesome sunsets. The deck offers almost a 180 degree vista of the ocean, and is a very special place. Just a short walk down the beach (3 minutes), is the Blue Bahia Beach Grill. So good that we ate there three times and loved the live music on Thursday and Sunday. Try the Jerk Fish Sandwich YUM! Sea Bass done just right with a slice of grilled pineapple on top. Not a combination I expected to like, but I LOVED it. We had a great time.

Amazing stay at Casa Cowee

My family and I just returned from our stay at Casa Cowee on Sandy Bay in Roatan. In our group was my family of four including two little boys (5 & 10) and my sister and her boyfriend. Our parents were also staying on the island at another location but spent most of their days at our place. The house was amazing! So unique and beautiful with fantastic proximity to the ocean. The layout was perfect for our group, a master bedroom and loft for us and then a separate apartment attached for my sister. During the day it would occasionally get a bit warm in the houses however the air flow was great and the ocean breezes quickly cooled you down, especially by the afternoon/evening. We were in a great location with easy access to West Bay but had everything we needed right there including a fantastic snorkeling spot. You could even sit on your deck (or dock) and watch the dolphins at neighboring Anthony’s Key. We had access to several restaurant options. Our favorite was the Sunken Fish just down the beach. We probably went there 5 times between breakfast, lunch and dinners. I’d definitely recommend booking an excursion with Channin and Jose. We went snorkeling our last full day with them and wish we’d had more time to do more in other locations. Jose was fantastic. He was available for anything we needed, whether to help us find fresh coconuts, drag our kayaks to the beach, help with groceries, etc. We were all in love with this island by the end of our trip.

Wonderful for the whole family!

We had a wonderful time at Casa Cowee and thank you and the team for everything! We had a lot of fun and have a few people to thank! First, Channin is so good and was a world of assistance to us. From grocery shopping to excursions to island information – he is the expert! Kimberly was so nice and helpful to us as my mother was coming in later than our arrival – she is a host of information and was wonderful to us. Throughout the week, Jose was an angel! He was helpful, courteous and seemed to anticipate our needs without ever being intrusive. It was so nice to have him on the property – he was amazing. The house was wonderful – clean and beautiful. I have so many pictures of us on the deck – overlooking the ocean and sunsets….just gorgeous. The BBQ area was a hit and we used it a lot when we were there. It was very relaxing even with the holidays as the people of Roatan are so friendly and warm. And so willing to help each other out in any circumstance….after a big storm, a car was stuck and out of nowhere, so many people came to help. The ocean in front of the house is incredible – the amount of fish, sting rays and shells was like snorkeling in an aquarium. Our kids do not dive, but the next time we go back, we will be! Our trip to Daniel Johnson’s Monkey and Sloth Hangout was one of the highlights of the trip. Playing with monkeys was pure laughter and fun…holding a sloth is how everyone should start their day!!! Getting to West End and West Bay turned out to be very simple and we made a couple of trips, but we loved the serenity of Casa Cowee and were always so thankful of the house upon our return. Blue Bahia Bar and Grill was a favorite when we did not eat at home. Such great food at reasonable prices with such a warm staff – awesome. Reentry was tough, but our memories are keeping us going until we return. Happy New Year to you, Channin, Kimberly and Jose - thank you for making our trip so memorable!

Island Retreat perfect for scuba divers

What a perfect island vacation for our family of five. Since visiting Roatan 25 years ago, Casa Cowee and Sandy Bay have managed to retain the unique island charm. In a noisy world, it was relaxing to enjoy stunning sunsets sitting on the deck overlooking crystal blue waters. The house worked great for a family with 3 adult children. We rented the main house and casita, so there were plenty of beds and places to hang out. We loved the outdoor showers! Days were very warm, but the nights were comfortable with fans and the natural ventilation through the house. We spent most of the day under water scuba diving or relaxing on the deck. The Hammocks were amazing...we will miss them the most!! Channin was extremely helpful getting us settled in and providing transportation whenever we needed to make a trip to the store or go to the West End. He is a great historian and provided wonderful background on the island. Jose was always magically nearby whenever we needed more water or access to the kayaks or just had a question. He was very friendly and helpful and was quick to address any issues we had. We came to Roatan specifically for the diving. We originally planned to use Anthony's Key, but we were very happy that we ended up using SeaDivers at Tranquil Seas. It was an easy walk 5 min. down the beach and we could keep our gear in their lockers.We had the same dive master, Josue, all week and loved the personal attention of Amanda, Sam and the whole crew. We would definitely recommend them..very safe, conscientious and friendly. We did go to West End one evening for dinner, but far preferred the quiet but fun evenings at the restaurants on Sandy Beach, Bahia and Tranquil Seas both have good food, good happy hours and are a short stroll down the beach. As parents, what we loved the most, was making priceless memories with our daughters without the electronic distractions of our day to day lives. We enjoyed wonderful conversations just swinging in the hammocks and watching beautiful sunsets every day. This is as close to a true island experience as you can get....geckos, birds, dogs and kids playing in the surf, sand and salt water. Not an air conditioned resort with bar staff....just a true nature retreat. Thank you Suzanne for sharing your island home and hospitality with us! We hope to return in the future. The original owners Miss Marcia and her husband were on a road trip in the 70's that took them from their Aspen home down through the rugged backroads of Central America, they discovered the lovely island of Roatan.

Captivated by its lush tropical foliage on a hilly terrain and , crystal clear waters – the friendly, generous spirit of the locals – they bought a pristine property down the beach from what was then the only major dive operation on the island – Anthony's Key Resort.

That’s how the history of “Casa Cowee” was written. Miss Marcia passed the property on to her family and in 2013 I visited and fell under it's spell. I am a Canadian from southern Ontario and fell in love with the Isle of Roatan, especially warm and natural Sandy Bay. You are part of a community here not a resort. So the next chapter in the history of Casa Cowee has begun. I know you will fall under it's spell also. Now I spend a good portion of my year there. I know that Casa Cowee is totally unique. It is so easy to meet people, not just expats but islanders. Your kids get exposure to the real world outside of the bubble most of us live in. Also you don't have to follow them around as you can see everything they are doing from the deck.

There is no better place on Sandy Bay proper for 180 degree vista of the breathtaking waters and reef and dolphins. You are high off the beach giving you total privacy and the deck is the most popular spot for the sunset happy hours. You also have one acre of lush property surrounding you for privacy and lots of fruit trees such as lemon, lime, bananas, coconut, jack fruit, mango etc.
Our new cocktail pool offers tranquility and a nice private spot further back on the beach. Sandy Bay is a large area. But Casa Cowee is located on a sleepy stretch of sand that includes Anthony's Key the Blue Bahia, Tranquil Seas and our new French Canadian Dive shops just minutes walk down the beach. Most have restaurants, a great pizza place behind Tranquil Seas and many local eateries to try. So no need to go further than our own little friendly community. But if there is a need to step it up a pace the West End is just a 10 min. taxi ride away. This is a dive hub along with, great restaurants, bars and night clubs. The nice thing about Roatan is that everyone on the island parties together, so a great island experience.

What Casa Cowee is – and is not ...

Casa Cowee is not a 'plug and play' unit in a gated community. It is our cherished family home, designed by a renowned local architect who was a dear friend of the original owners – and who put his passion for the island into every facet of Casa Cowee’s signature design.
Another reason I chose Roatan was that it was well outside "hurricane alley" in the Caribbean. The last instance was in 2001 but because the second largest reef in the world surrounds the island it is rare to see waves hit the shore. Floridians and Texans head to our tropical island during the hurricane season.
One of the great beauties of Roatan and the Sandy Bay location is during the 'low' season you enjoy reduced rates but you are there during their flowering and fruit season. We have a multitude of fruit trees on our property you can enjoy. I found that the weather is great and the temperature the same year round. Sandy Bay is a residential area so the same action year round. Much unlike the tourist areas of West Bay and West End.
