Enjoy gorgeous ocean views from the palapa, kayaking through the mangrove, or relaxing in a hammock on the dock or screened in patio. The Roatan Barrier Reef, part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and also known as the Jewel Of The Caribbean is the second largest barrier reef in the world after Australia's Great Barrier Reef and is located in the Caribbean Sea. The views from your living room are spectacular in this small, peaceful community. Relax beside the infinity private pool or enjoy the breeze and sunset on the dock.Grab snorkeling gear and watch the marine life in the reef. Head over to Turquoise Bay for diving/snorkeling with Subway Watersports.
The BBH had everything we needed for our timeOn the north shore. From the fresh coffee in the morning to the panel board and kayaks for exploring the reef and mangroves we had a great time
Although a bit off the beaten path, we arrived at The Big Beach House and were immediately delighted with the beautiful home and scenic views. The kids immediately jumped into the infinity pool while the adults checked out the views from the crow's nest. The house was lovely and clean and had everything that we needed. It was also very close to Pirates of the Carribean zipline where we were able to get up close and personal with monkeys, parrots, and sloths.
Turquiose Bay Resort was right down the road, and we were able to set up scuba dives quickly and easily. The homeowners recommended local restaurants and we enjoyed great meals with amazing views at Kristi's Overlook and Bella's. The community dock, kayaks, and paddleboards were fun for us to use to hunt for conch shells and explore the bay. After checking out the busy, crowded, West End of the island we were thankful we chose the peaceful and private location of The Big Beach House. Whether we were exploring the island or relaxing with the family, The Big Beach House was a great home away from home! We had a great time making memories at The Big Beach House and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxation and fun with friends and family.
Wow!! This house is even better in person! Spacious, beautiful and well stocked! Beds were very comfortable and kitchen was well stocked to make a few meals. We enjoyed everything about this lovely home! Breakfast in the crows nest with beautiful views & tropical bird songs, kayaking & paddle boarding in the afternoon with a cooling dip in the plunge pool & then peaceful nights playing games on the wrap around screened in porch. We stayed with our 3 daughters & our oldest daughter's boyfriend. Plenty of space for everyone. We took a day cruise snorkeling and fishing which was incredible! We went zip-lining & visited an animal sanctuary which was breathtaking! Sloths, toucans & monkeys. We loved where the house was located. Quiet, private and clean. We felt very safe while at the house. Myra was WONDERFUL and communication with her & the owners was very easy & smooth! We did see jelly fish but they are just by the dock. We never had any issues & swam/snorkeled every day. Snorkeling is amazing! We were going to rent snorkel gear but ended up buying them there as there wasn't much of a price difference. One snorkeling tip we found VERY helpful was to use a drop of JOY dish soap & ocean water to swish in your goggles to keep from getting fogged up. Driving is an adventure as the roads are small, lots of pot holes & motorcycles make up their own rules of the road :). Highly recommend this beautiful house & Roatan if you are ready for an incredible adventure!
We stayed in the Big Beach House for 7 nights with our three kids and family friends.
The owners were SO helpful and responsive prior to our visit. They coordinated a car rental and answered all of our questions.
When we arrived the house manager, Mayra was so personable and responsive during our stay.
Highlights of the house: the sunset views from the dock, enjoying the pool and shaded deck in the afternoon breeze, paddle boarding and kayaking through the mangroves close to the house.
The house was very clean. There were AC units in all of the rooms (except the upstairs loft) so we stayed cool. We opened the doors and let an amazing breeze through for most of the day to conserve electricity.
The birds could be heard about 6:30 am each morning but it added to the charm of the house. The kitchen was well stocked with most of what we needed to cook a few evenings. We couldâve use a few more large mixing and serving bowls and possibly storage containers for leftovers.
Only downside of the house was that the kids were able to spot small jellyfish in the water and didnât want to swim, even off of the dock. But we saw the local kids swimming and having a wonderful time.
We were removed from the crazy crowds of the West End and hardly saw any other tourists but it was a drive if we wanted to head into the West side of the island.
Overall, itâs a beautiful house in a quiet safe location. We would highly recommend the Big Beach House!
We have enjoyed visiting Roatan for a relaxing vacation. We love the quiet east end and slow pace of the island. We hope you will be able to relax and enjoy the island too!
We love the ocean views and sunsets on the dock. The palapa is a relaxing area to catch the breeze. We love kayaking through the mangroves and snorkeling. Our family enjoys scuba diving the many different sites all over the island too. Lion fishing is a fun activity for my husband and daughter. This area is quiet and secluded.
Many of the beaches in this area are quiet and the views on this end of the island are breathtaking. This is a gorgeous area and also offers fun dining experiences nearby.
