So back in 2020 … on a whim … during the pandemic, we embarked on the first of our holiday cottage journeys with the Arran apartment. On the drive over to the beautiful Lamlash Bay, with the keys we had just collected in our hands, randomly and perfectly timed, the radio blasted out David Byrne voice - ‘guess this must be the place,’ a favourite song of ours. We knew it was fate, it was clear those words would have to play a part in our future endeavours. This Must Be The Place Stays was born. After a stressful but satisfying renovation, we caught the bug. By the time we were launching our Arran project and getting such positive feedback from our first guests we decided we were hooked! Call us the ‘ hostesses with the mostest.’ Isle of Skye is our most recent project which we completed in September 2022. We are now thrilled to welcome guests from all around the world to our new wee shiny abode. Hosting tourists and making their time in Scotland as amazing as it can be is a huge part of why we started out this little venture! The Isle of Arran and Isle of Skye hold such huge places in our hearts and we just want to create a cosy, characterful, quirky space for people eager to explore both of these most beautiful Scottish islands. In 2026 we launched our 3rd property in our hometown of Ayr, again inspired by a Wes Anderson movie. Located on South Harbour Street in Ayr, just minutes walking distance from the beach and the town centre. This carefully curated apartment enjoys river views from every window and is fully equipped with everything you need to make yourself at home. We also have a cozy wood burner for relaxed evenings after a day of exploring Ayrshire.
