Platani is a small hillside village above Souda Bay, a short drive east of Chania town. It offers a quiet residential setting with open views over the bay, away from the busier coastal resorts. Guests can reach the port town of Souda and the national road quickly, making it convenient for day trips along the north coast. The archaeological site of ancient Aptera and its fortress are also within a short drive, adding easy access to local history.

Everyday needs are covered mainly in nearby Souda, where guests will find supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, and other basic shops. Simple local tavernas and cafés are scattered in Souda and the surrounding villages, so dining out does not always require going into Chania. Chania’s old town and Venetian harbor are still close enough for regular visits for sightseeing, restaurants, and evening walks. Overall, the area suits guests who plan to explore by car and return to a calm base with good road connections.

Closest Beach: Koum Kapi Beach in Chania is approximately 10–12 minutes’ drive (about 7–8 km) from the house [confirm].

Supermarkets and Shops: Supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, and other shops in Souda are typically 5–8 minutes’ drive away (around 3–5 km) [confirm].

Public Transport: Public transportation options are limited in this area, so a car is the best way to get around.

Closest Airport: Chania International Airport (CHQ) is approximately 20–25 minutes’ drive (around 15 km) from the house.
