Danes Court, Cartmel Fell
Nestled in a secluded woodland on the slopes of Cartmel Fell, Danes Court House offers a tranquil retreat just 10 minutes from Windermere. Once part of a Victorian vicarage, this grand home combines period charm with modern luxury. With high ceilings, original features, and tasteful renovations, this is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Secluded yet easily accessible, youâre just a short drive to some top dining spots (including 7 Michelin* restaurants), and the stunning Lake District.
The space
Tall pine trees part to reveal the grandeur of Danes Court House, standing proudly above its peaceful surroundings. This historic home, accessed via a charming gravel driveway and stone steps, offers free parking for 3 cars, and a walled terrace thatâs perfect for catching the early evening sun.
Upon entering through the grand, partly glazed doors, you are welcomed into a formal dining room with bespoke carpet, high ceilings, and a feature fireplace. To the right, the spacious sitting room boasts arched windows, original Victorian cornicing, and an impressive bespoke carpet, designed to complement the roomâs unique shape. This room also contains real fire which is super cosy on those cooler evenings.

The master bedroom impresses with Versace wallpaper and a recently renovated en-suite. The bedroom is extremely spacious. It has a TV, dressing table/desk, seating area and a king-size bed with a very high-quality mattress. All bedding is Egyptian cotton for that luxury touch and a perfect night's sleep. There is also a blue-tooth wireless speaker for your enjoyment and wireless phone chargers on each bedside. Plenty of storage is provided in the antique chests and wardrobe, as well as an iron and ironing board. A hairdryer is also provided in the room.

Garden delights
The outdoor spaces are equally enchanting. Enjoy your morning coffee on the slate-covered top terrace, surrounded by vibrant planting and views over the sloping lawn and woodland. As the day progresses, relax on the lower terrace, bathed in evening sunshine. Here, natureâs soundtrack consists only of birdsong and occasional wildlife visits, making it a peaceful haven for guests.
