Salvin House is set in the heart of Alston, England's highest market town, surrounded by the striking scenery of the North Pennines National Landscape. Spacious and inviting, this beautifully presented home offers a true home-from-home experience, thoughtfully equipped with modern amenities including EV charging and furnished to a high standard for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Dating back over 200 years, the house has been carefully refurbished to preserve its original character while introducing bright, contemporary interiors. Ideal for groups of friends or two families holidaying together, the property can also accommodate up to two additional children on fold-up beds by prior arrangement. With pubs, cafés and independent shops just a short stroll away, and countryside walks beginning right from the doorstep, guests can enjoy the area without needing to use the car, which can be left in the private parking area.
Warm and welcoming throughout the year, the cottage benefits from central heating and a wood-burning stove. The lounge offers comfortable seating arranged around a Smart TV and the stove, creating a cosy space to relax with a book after a day outdoors. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped for family meals, featuring an electric Rangemaster cooker, American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave, while a separate utility room provides a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The dining room is perfect for lingering over dinner, planning the next day's adventures or enjoying a family games night with the selection of games provided. A convenient downstairs shower room completes the ground floor.
Upstairs, four generously sized bedrooms provide restful accommodation. The master bedroom features a super king-size bed, which can be converted into twins on request. Two further bedrooms offer a king-size bed and a double bed, while the fourth bedroom is furnished with bunk beds. Two family bathrooms serve the first floor, one with a shower over the bath and the other with a separate shower cubicle.
To the rear of the house is a terraced garden with table and chairs for outdoor dining. Meals can be prepared on the barbecue or in the pizza oven, making it an ideal space for relaxed evenings outdoors. A private driveway offers parking for up to two cars, with EV charging available.
Gas, electricity, an initial supply of logs, bed linen and towels are all included. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and a cot and highchair can be provided on request.
