Spend a fun-filled day navigating the mazes and racing go-karts at Southwold Maize Maze, and in the evening, come home to host a BBQ feast in the cottage's pretty garden. Park your car in the private parking area (there’s room for six cars) and head to this impressive farmhouse-style cottage, which features characterful exposed beams, lofty ceilings and original flooring. Step inside the entrance lobby and you’ll find a pool table – a playful hint at the fun you will have in this well-appointed property. Choose from the two beautifully designed lounges, both of which feature crackling wood burners. When it’s time to eat, head to the open-plan kitchen/diner to rustle up some dinner to share at the large wooden table. Alternatively, head out onto the patio, fire up the charcoal BBQ or pizza oven, and dine alfresco. Afterwards, relax in the bubbling hot tub. At the end of the day, the ground floor offers two charming bedrooms – a cosy double and a bunk room perfect for kids. Climb the wooden staircase and you’ll find four more inviting bedrooms – a super-king-size room with an en-suite shower room, two doubles, and a twin bedroom. Completing the interior is a well-equipped family bathroom and a separate wet room.

Lace up your walking boots and head to Reydon Wood (1 mile), a 16-hectare nature reserve that boasts ancient trees and vibrant wildflowers. Alternatively, soak up some classic British seaside fun at Southwold Beach (4 miles) – stroll along the sandy shore, check out the beach huts, and savour fish and chips on Southwold Pier.
