A commanding presence for centuries, this timber-framed house is in the heart of a Stour Valley village with a welcoming pub, shop and deli all just a pleasant stroll from the doorstep. Steeped in history and once significant in the wool trade, Nayland nestles in the Dedham Vale National Landscape, an ideal base for walkers, photographers and peace-seekers. Discover the views that John Constable painted in Flatford, 11 miles east, or venture into county town Ipswich (16 miles) for galleries and a waterfront lined by yachts and high-end eateries. Close by, Suffolk Food Hall is a fine destination for discerning shoppers. Head south instead and Colchester (6.5 miles) is famous for its Roman Castle, while the charming riverside town of Mistley (13 miles) has a historic quay and beautiful architecture, including an intriguing pair of classical towers.
Originally a Tudor counting house, this impressive property features a first-floor guest wing at one end, fully self-contained with its own private entrance off the gated driveway. Head up the staircase and youâll find a characterful living area with ornate, double-height ceilings and garden views.
