The Local Area
Anglesey's Menai Bridge marks the spot where the Isle of Anglesey meets mainland North Wales via the two bridges that stretch across the Menai Strait. With a collection of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs, it's the perfect place to spend a romantic weekend or long-awaited get-together.
From your doorstep, you're just steps away from RibRide, a boating company offering both scenic and high-octane tours around the island, as well as Dylan's, the original site of a beloved North Wales restaurant chain. For other epicurean delights, don't miss & Caws, a deli and cheesemonger's selling the finest artisan, farmhouse cheeses from Wales, the UK and Europe. Other than that, there are plenty of pretty shops for a morning or afternoon mooch.
Whichever direction you take from Menai Bridge, you'll end up at a beautiful beach. If you turn left and head west, Newborough Nature Reserve and Beach is just 30 minutes by car, while a 17-minute drive as the crow flies will bring you to the expansive Red Wharf Bay with its ancient pub on the beach, the Ship Inn.
