The Cottage at Barraston Farm - a cottage that sleeps 10 guests in 4 bedrooms
Tucked away on the outskirts of Glasgow, The Cottage at Barraston Farm is a breathtaking country retreat where luxury meets charm. Beautifully refurbished to the highest standard, this stunning escape blends modern indulgence with traditional Scottish warmth, creating a truly unforgettable "home away from home." Every detail has been carefully designed to welcome you with comfort, style, and a sense of place that makes Barraston Farm an extraordinary getaway.
At the heart of the property lies the showstopping barn conversion, an impressive entertainment space featuring seating to relax in front of the fire, a full-size pool table, dart board, and private bar (works on an honesty basis). From here, step directly into your own spa sanctuary, complete with an infra-red sauna, shower room, and a wood-fired hot tub overlooking sweeping views of the Glasgow skyline and miles of rolling countryside. Whether it's lively evenings of laughter with friends or peaceful moments of relaxation with family, this unique setting delivers both in abundance.
The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area is thoughtfully designed to combine comfort and functionality. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need including a Nespresso coffee machine for your morning brew. A dining table with seating for six makes it easy to enjoy meals together with an additional dining room for 10 if needed, while the adjoining living space offers a woodburning stove and comfortable seating, perfect for relaxing after a day out. A single glass panelled door opens onto the rear patio and lawned garden, where you can take in far-reaching views across the fields to the distant city skyline.
Perfectly tailored for groups, The Cottage at Barraston Farm comfortably hosts up to 10 guests. The main cottage boasts three beautifully styled bedrooms, while the separate bothy, with its own en-suite and cosy bunk beds, offers flexibility and privacy. The thoughtful layout ensures guests can come together in shared spaces while still enjoying private corners to unwind, making it ideal for families, friends, or mixed gatherings.
Beyond the cottage, guests have exclusive use of a spacious outdoor kitchen, generous dining area, and a large covered communal space, perfect for cooking together, sharing meals, or celebrating special occasions under the open sky. With every corner designed for connection and comfort, Barraston Farm invites you to create memories that will last a lifetime.
The farm itself is a delight to explore. Fully fenced and child-friendly, the grounds are home to an array of friendly farm animals including peacocks, ducks, sheep, and horses (we do ask that children are supervised). Beyond the gates, the local area offers an abundance of things to see and do.
Just minutes away lies the enchanting Lennox Forest, with its network of trails perfect for walking, cycling, or peaceful woodland picnics. Outdoor enthusiasts will also find easy access to the Campsie Fells, where rolling hills and dramatic scenery provide the ideal backdrop for hiking, wildlife spotting, and photography.
Golf lovers are spoilt for choice, with a number of highly regarded courses close by, including Hayston Golf Club, Lenzie Golf Club, and Bishopbriggs Golf Club, each offering beautifully maintained greens and welcoming clubhouses, a little further afield is the prestigious and world-renowned Loch Lomond Golf Course and The Carrick at Cameron House, where you can enjoy a round of 18 holes overlooking the beautiful Loch Lomond.
Families will enjoy nearby attractions such as Mugdock Country Park, a wonderful day out with adventure play areas, scenic lochs, castle ruins, and a visitor centre with regular events and activities for children. For those with an interest in history, the Roman Antonine Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, runs through East Dunbartonshire, with sections at Bar Hill Fort near Twechar providing a fascinating glimpse into Scotland's Roman past.
The charming town of Milngavie offer's independent shops, cosy cafés, traditional pubs, and weekly markets to discover, in particular, is famous as the starting point of the West Highland Way, Scotland's most celebrated long-distance walking trail.
For those seeking a change of pace, the vibrant Glasgow city centre is just a short drive away. Here you'll find world-class museums and galleries, including the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the Riverside Museum, as well as theatres, live music venues, and award-winning restaurants. Shopping ranges from luxury designer stores on Buchanan Street to quirky boutiques and vintage shops in the city's West End.
And if you fancy venturing further afield, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is within easy reach, offering breathtaking landscapes, water sports, boat trips, and charming lochside villages such as Balmaha and Luss.
Whether you're looking for family fun, outdoor adventure, cultural discovery, or simple relaxation, the surrounding area offers the perfect blend of rural tranquillity and city convenience.
