Welcome to Sidbury â A Charming Saxon Village
Sidbury is a beautiful and historic Saxon village, often featured on Escape to the Country, and itâs easy to see why. Itâs peaceful, picturesque, and full of local character.
đïž The village has a lovely little shop and an excellent local butcher (Robbieâs), perfect for picking up fresh ingredients.
đź The post office opens once a week for essentials.
Be sure to visit the beautiful Church of St. Giles, which offers guided tours of the crypt during summer months.
đ Opposite the church is the Red Lion pub, run by Rich and his wife Bip. Itâs dog-friendly and serves fantastic foodâespecially Bipâs homemade curries. Thereâs an open fire, an outdoor terrace, and occasional live entertainment.
Out & About
đ Thereâs a regular bus service into the charming coastal town of Sidmouth, where you'll find shops, cafes, beaches, and more.
đïž The Jurassic Coast is right on your doorstep, with endless scenic walks and photo opportunities.
đ The area known as The Byes offers a beautiful, dog-friendly walk all the way into Sidmouthâideal for nature lovers and pet owners alike.
â And donât miss the newly opened dog-friendly coffee and cake shop near the village hall (almost opposite the butcher's). Itâs family-run, full of local charm, and they even sell treats for your furry friends!
There is a regular bus service into Sidmouth,Exeter and Honiton.
đŸ Dog-Friendly Stay
We welcome well-behaved dogs, but please note: the garden is enclosed with a charming picket fence that opens toward a stream. While the fence helps define the space, it does not fully secure the area, especially for adventurous pupsâso please keep an eye on them near the water.
đ§ïž Flood Precaution
Although flooding is very rare (it has only occurred 3 times in the past 6 years), weâve added a âsleeper-styleâ flood wall around the patio as an extra precaution. In the event of very heavy rain, please refer to the guest information book for simple guidance on what to doâjust in case.
đ¶ Resident Pets
You may spot our Border Collie, Colin, who is extremely friendly but mostly keeps to himself (unless you have a ball!). Our black and white cat, Nellie, is curious and may wander close to say hello. If your dog isnât cat-friendly, please be mindful in case sheâs around.
This little guest house has taken a great deal of effort to please everyone who stays in it.
All I ask is that you take care of it and any problems you have please don't hesitate to let me know I promise I won't bite. I have a dog called Colin so be mindful of yours, try to keep the little gate shut and clean up after them. You can dispose of their mess in the landfill big grey bin
Please don't smoke inside the property if you smoke outside please use the terracotta ashtrays provided ( underneath the shoe rack) and dispose of your butts sensibly. My cat Nellie is very friendly and used to my dog ,others if they bark will scare her. Of course she is curious and may come for a look.If you have a dog who is not cat friendly, you will need to bear this in mind. There is a long lead in the little shed if you wish to tether them
Your private garden has a picket fence and at the bottom there is a beautiful stream, we have tried our very best to make this a secure as possible.
When you arrive try to turn your car with your boot against the guest parking sign this will enable you to drive out ( busy road) and I can also turn my car
Many thanks
Maxine.
