Beautiful property on Lake Michigan!! Host was very accommodating and communicative. Thank you for sharing your home for our daughterâs wedding weekendâ€ïž
Our large extended family had the most wonderful time at this beachfront home. It has a rustic cabin feel but the rooms were all spacious and the layout of the home was comfortable for the 14 people in our group. The short flight of stairs down to the beach was a huge plus! We were able to run up and down whenever we needed which is key when you have babies and young children. We loved sitting by the fire pit every night and enjoyed the jacuzzi as well. Thanks to the property manager, Jeff, for being such a pleasure to deal with.
This was a beautiful house with lots of room. The deck was so big and well-appointed. We loved the two aiderondack chairs on the lower level for reading. The kitchen had most everything we needed.
The one thing that would improve this house is to have a bath or a half bath on the lower level.
This was a perfect little slice of heaven on Lake Michigan for our family of 12. The property has everything you could ask for; million dollar views, large deck overlooking the lake, private beach, hot tub, and tons of additional amenities. We loved our time here and recommend it to anyone.
We stayed with my wifeâs family. Plenty of bedrooms to spread out (2 upstairs, 3 main floor, 1 basement). We have 3 kids ages 7, 5, 3.
Positives: Beach, hot tub, fire pit, view from deck, easy pontoon boat rental on Portage lake for fishing
My kids absolutely loved this place. Beach during the day fire and hot tub at night. They were sad to leave.
Drawbacks: No AC, but the property is between two bodies of water and had all the windows open with fans throughout the home. We still brought box fans from home, which Iâd recommend if you enjoy a cool night sleep. If the temperature is below 70 through the night i donât think youâll notice no AC. We slept well.
Walk to beach has a steep section. Iâm young so this is no problem. My mother in law didnât go down as she is in her sixties was a bit worried. My father in law had no problem.
The drawbacks are very few. Any questions were quickly answered. Property manager was easy to reach and very helpful. I would highly recommend staying here for the positives I mentioned.
Geographic location is the best we've had and we rent quite a bit every two years on the lake shore. The house is dated but roomy. Public beach access is adjacent and as others have pointed out parking is very tight. Kitchen has everything you need.
Very nice house and the location was awesome! Just expect tight parking and would recommend them to replace the hot tub cover soon so that itâs not so heavy. Other than that, had an unbelievable week!
This property was very good for our needs (though a handrail for all the front stairs would have made it even better). Accommodations and furnishings were excellent and the piano helped 3 granddaughters practice their music and entertained the rest of us nightly. Excellent views of Lake Michigan and easy access to Portage Point Inn.
This property is amazing. The house is clean, pretty inside and out and had more than enough space for our family of six. The outdoor deck was so nice especially with the beach being small this year. The hot tub and private fire pit were great additions to our experience.
We really enjoyed our time. The cottage is very well equipped, comfortable, and roomy. The view is wonderful. Only suggestions to improve are another umbrella on the deck and a newer picnic table would be nice
This property is basically exactly like what is shown in the pictures. The view is absolutely outstanding. This house is slightly more outdated than ones we have stayed at previously (nothing bad at all), which gave it more of a cottage feel instead of a fancy home, which we loved. The entire property is huge and spread out, it feels so private and like itâs only you out there right on the water. We utilized the basketball area, the hot tub, the grills, the games inside, and so many other things this place has to offer you. It was amazing. Would highly recommended and would stay here again.
The property, views, and accommodations exceeded expectations!
We had a wonderful stay. The surrounding area had some great things to do as well, from golfing to grabbing a bite to eat and a few drinks at the Portage Point Inn. Would highly recommend this place!
Perfect spot for a long weekend getaway with our friends!
This property is primo location! We enjoyed the sunset and moonset every night from the porch! The private access to the beach was perfect and provided a great setting for our day Saturday at the beach! Since we had kids, it was so easy to just pop back at the house to eat or whatever we needed! We were lucky to have calm water during the weekend to enjoy the water and sandy beach!
The house and amenities are as described. We overlooked the detail of NO Air Conditioning but thankfully it was a high of only 80s our travel weekend! The cool breeze at night and early morning was perfect to sleep and enjoy cooking breakfast with our group with the windows open. The ceiling fans and the portable fans throughout the house helped too!
We had ample room for our group to sleep and hang out in the common areas!! The kitchen was stocked with all cooking essentials including spices, pots, pans, and utensils.
Make sure to bring towels for shower, beach, and hand towels or paper towels for bathrooms. Beds were comfy, and linens were all sufficient!
Thanks to Jeff for renting to us and providing all the essential information prior to and during our stay for a great getaway! We all had a wonderful time and will definitely keep this property on our favorites list!
This house was fantastic! We had an amazing time here! The beach is unbeatable. We surprised my mom for her birthday and had her brothers and sisters come in from Ireland. This house was more than accommodating. We all enjoyed the days on the beach, all of us able to sit at the dinner table together and the beautiful sunsets. I would highly recommend this house!
Location is perfect- Lake Michigan in front of your home, excellent views from the deck and from the house (including the two bedrooms upstairs). We had the windows open in the bedrooms upstairs and listened to the water all night- so peaceful. Portage Lake and Portage Point Inn just a short walk away (including ice cream and cafe). We paid for access to Portage Point Inn amenities including the new swimming pool/hot tub; beach access; shuffleboard; porch; etc. and we thought it was worth paying for, especially if you have young children. House was as advertised- spacious and very quiet. Another reviewer mentioned that the public access path next to the home was loud at times but we didn't hear anyone, even though people used the path. A reviewer also suggested bringing your own pillows- we brought some based on the review but we never used them- we thought the pillows were fine/comfortable. Very quiet and spacious. The house is more like a cabin in that parts are old, but we thought it was perfect/fine, especially for being a beach cabin. Would definitely rent here again.
This property is just as described. The house was clean and well equipped. We had 15 family members stay here and there was plenty of room to spread out. Great view and access to the beach. The beach is wonderful! Clear, sandy, and shallow enough for the younger ones to go out a bit. You can take long walks on the beach and the kids enjoyed climbing the sand bar. One of the best vacations ever!
First, this guest home was large enough (in fact, comfortably so) for eight adults and eight children (ages 5 months to 10 years). Large kitchen and dining area, two refrigerators. Living room, porch, and deck. The view is flat-out beautiful. Very short walk to the beach (shallow, all sand). Hot tub, fire pit and basketball court were in constant use. As were the beach toys. The treehouse was a hit for the littler kids.
It was a very short walk to the Portage Point Inn for ice, ice cream and pizza. Very short walk for fishing (we caught rock bass). Blueberry picking is nearby, along with putt-putt golf. The place is situated close enough to Manistee, Sleeping Bear and Traverse City for day outings. In other words, lots to keep kids and parents happy.
Our only criticisms: the basement bedroom was musty and the owner did not supply towels. We overlooked both of those.
The realtor, Jeff Sternberger, was extremely cooperative and helpful. And Onekama is a cute little town with all the essentials you'll need.
This is a very attractive property with all the amenities you would expect. Well well worth your time--and money. We recommend it highly.
Gorgeous views, great location if you want a quiet, beach-centric stay. It's a house where you can be very comfortable -- we had ample space for 16.
The property is adjacent to public access to the beach -- that was, at times, disruptive.
Bring your own pillows!
For our 12 people, it would have been nice to have an additional bathroom, but we managed fine with what we had. Even with temperatures in the 90's, did not really have a need for AC -- we opened up every window and used the fans a lot. The lake was our favorite hangout, but we also spent some time hiking and riding bikes. One of the things that stood out was how private the experience was -- even in an area with so many people, we always felt like we had our own little piece of the world.
