Nice getaway with the family

We had a lovely stay as a family and lots of fun in the fabulous garden. Unfortunately there was a problem with a leak in one of the bedrooms from the week before, but this was dealt with well by Hilary and with minimal impact on us and our holiday.

Perfect for mixed generations

The main house and separate folly worked really well for our three-generation family group. The spacious kitchen and dining area were great for sharing meals together. The beautiful garden was lovely to relax in and the barbecue area was well equipped. Thank you for a super stay.

Family holiday to Crewkerne

Accommodation was excellent. Plenty of space for the 6 adults and 4 children (aged 3 to 7). Lovely garden for all to enjoy, which included a bbq and outdoor fridge ( very helpful in the hot temperatures that we enjoyed). We visited plenty of locations within a short drive, including several beaches.

Fantastic Property

We had a wonderful stay at The Old Smithy was perfect for our needs with ages ranging from 7 to 75 and a border collie. So much space in the garden and the house which was well equipped with everything we would need. Would definitely recommend this property for larger families.

Special family celebration holiday

Brilliant accommodation. Perfect for all our family. Plenty of room for children to play. Excellent garden for our Easter Egg Hunt. Excellent range of utensils. Very comfortable.

Family Holiday

Had a very enjoyable family holiday 7 adults and 3 children in this well equipped property, location is very good for visiting area and coast. Garden and barbecue facilities excellent for all family to enjoy young and old. The Folly was a great hideaway for grandparents. Contact with owners very good and a welcome package of apple juice and biscuits much appreciated.

A very pleasant stay in a homely home.

We were not lucky with the weather but the children had fun playing in the large garden and also the Lego and Dinosaurs kept them busy. Thank you Hilary and family for the use of your home, it was great getting the family together after so long.

Family holiday

A beautiful home impeccably presented. Communication with Hilary was second to none, so accommodating and eager to help. Great garden, lovely location easy walk into the village and within short drive of Lyme Regis, Lulworth Cove and Dorchester. Wonderful trip.

A week with all the family.

Excellent property, very well equipped with beautiful garden. Quirky cottage with plenty of space for a week away with family members. The children loved the attic room. The owner was extremely helpful and was quick to reply to any issues/queries. Would definitely recommend this property.

Great location to explore three counties.

The house was just as advertised and communication with Hilary was very easy and quick. The house, garden and facilities were excellent and gave a lot of space for our family. The location is perfect to visit the coast (half hour drive) or go for walks in the countryside and maybe visit a Cider farm or two. Would thoroughly recommend this property for families to enjoy.

Lovely place for a holiday!

The property was ideal for a family holiday, clean, well equipped and more than enough space for all ages to enjoy. Communication with Hilary was excellent. The house is ideally placed to explore Somerset, Dorset and Devon and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It was great to get our extended family together for a holiday, and our thanks for allowing us to do this. Would thouroughly recommend The Old Smithy to anyone.

Family break

Communication with the owner was excellent. As a base for days out Crewkerne is about half an hour from Lyme Regis, West Bay beaches and other attractions. The garden is beautiful which was enjoyed by all ages in our family, plenty of garden furniture for everyone. Weather was mixed but this did not detract from our stay, lots to do even if housebound once or twice!

A very beautiful house near the fossile coast

Thanks a lot for this great stay in Somerset, the house is lovely styled with all things you need for a great family holiday. We loved the music from the Ipod and the DVD-collection! It was a good place to start trips to the coast, Portland and Lime Regis. We are a family of 5 and 2 friends and found enough space for everybody. We would like to come back!

Family home

I was under the impression that the property was going to be a holiday let But it’s actually someone’s home I am extremely grateful for them allowing us to stay there But found it a bit peculiar having the family photo album on every wall looking down at you during my stay

Such a shame you felt the need to comment on the photos. We were under the impression that we were helping you out. You and your work colleagues needed a place to stay while you were working locally. We accommodated you. The details state quite clearly that this is a family home. We have only ever rented to families and holiday makers before. As you will see from their feedback - all have been incredibly happy with their stay at The Old Smithy. It is such a shame that a few family photos on the walls equaled a three star review. During your visit, and when you left, you all said that you had enjoyed your stay. If you had voiced the concerns regarding the photos at the time we would, of course, have sorted them out immediately.

Home away from home

Thank you for the opportunity to rent this lovely home for our family holiday. The weather didn’t disappoint, home was comfortable with all the necessary requirements and more. We especially enjoyed the private garden and BBQ area. We loved the fact that it was located close to all attractions and beaches. We would highly recommend this property. Thank you Hillary for being such a wonderful host. (Loved the biscuits and apple juice too)

Family holiday

From a Grandma with 2 daughters and their families, we would like to thank our host, Hilary, for a most wonderful holiday. The house was exceptionally clean and comfortable and was supplied with everything you need. A wonderful well-kept garden too. Many places to visit and some lovely beaches all within a short drive away. It would be a property we would love to use again for a future holiday. Large well equipped house

Ideal location great for large family. Notified Hilary of a problem with toaster which was immediately rectified. Lovely homely feel with everything you could ask for. Grandchildren loved the huge garden with lots of space to run around. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a great week x
