The Maid's Cottage · Rural hideaway in a cosy farm cottage with hot tub
'The Maid's cottage was a perfect retreat and photos don't do it justice'. Our cottage is the ideal accommodation for couples or families with children to have a relaxing retreat in this cosy home, with its own hot tub. We feel it is suitable for 2 adults and up to 2 children, who would be happy to sleep on the sofa bed downstairs. The garden is enclosed and perfect for dogs. It was completely renovated in 2020 and opened in late 2021.
The cottage has an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped with oven, microwave, fridge with freezer box, washing machine, kettle, toaster and dishwasher. There is a table (which extends to seat 4), double sofa bed, armchair, 43" smart TV and electric wood burner. The compact space downstairs is well designed to accommodate 2 adults and up to 2 children, who are happy to sleep downstairs. Four adults have stayed in The Maidâs Cottage but the space around the sofa bed is tight.
Patio doors lead from the kitchen onto the patio which accommodates a 4-person hot tub, patio table (seats 4) and swing seat. The garden is large for the size of the property and is fully enclosed.
Upstairs is the bedroom with its king-sized bed and bathroom with large bath and over bath shower.
We are child friendly and have stair gates, cots, high-chairs and baby baths available on request.
The Maid's cottage is situated on our working arable farm and adjoins our larger holiday home, The Old Farmhouse. Both properties are on the edge of the farmyard, near to farm buildings and our neighbourâs home and horse fields. It is only accessible by car or bike as there is no public transport to the property. The nearest railway station is Huntingdon, 11 miles (approximately 20 minutes away). The nearest shops are in Sawtry, 2 miles away.
We can suggest Taxi companies if required.
The cottage has a parking space at the side of the property.
We will meet you at the property when you check in unless we are not available, if this is the case we will introduce ourselves to you as soon as possible after your arrival.
We live on the same site as the property and will be on hand if you have any questions or concerns but we do work away from the site at other farms but are contactable via phone if required.
We will be servicing the hot tub twice daily.
The cottage is situated on the edge of the farmyard of a working arable farm. A short walk down the drive and you can walk or cycle miles of bridleways and footpaths around the farm.
You will need a car or taxi to access the property, the surrounding towns and villages.
The Old Farmhouse, which sleeps 10 in 5 en-suite bedrooms adjoins the property. Both properties have their own enclosed gardens, separated by a tall fence and they doesn't share any facilities.
During the winter months (1st October-31st March) the Old Farmhouse and Maid's Cottage are available to instantly book at the same time, as any noise from the neighbouring property, which may affect your enjoyment of the Maid's cottage garden is likely to be limited by the cooler weather.
From 1st April to 30th September, The Maid's Cottage diary will only be open for instant booking when The Old Farmhouse is unoccupied to ensure our guests have a peaceful and relaxing use of the garden in the long summer evenings. If potential noise is not a concern for you, please send me a message and I will check our availability.

We accept a well-behaved dog and no other pets (two dogs on request, depending on their size). We ask that dogs stay downstairs, off the furniture and are not left on their own in the cottage for prolonged periods of time.
âą Overnight accommodation to only be provided to guests declared on the booking form in advance of the commencement of the Rental Period
âą That the numbers of guests staying is not over the maximum for the homes which are for The Maidâs Cottage - 4, excluding infants sleeping in their own cots.
âą To take good care of the property and leave it in a clean and tidy condition at the end of the guests stay.
âą To permit the owners access to maintain the hot tubs twice daily.
âą Not to cause annoyance or become a nuisance to neighbours and occupant of adjoining properties.
âą Not to cause excessive noise between 10pm and 7.30am, especially outdoors.
âą Not to smoke in the properties
âą Not to bring any pets to the property other than at the prior agreement of the hosts
âą To read any fire and safety notices and advice upon arrival in the property, ask for clarification as required, paying special notice of the hot tub rules.
âą Not to re-let or sublet the property to any other guestsâ group or party.
âą To only use the property strictly for residential purposes.
âą Not to use the properties for parties or gatherings of maximum allowed for each home, if this is not respected Guests could be liable for a fine up to ÂŁ2000.
âą Not to use the phone line connected to the property.
âą Not to light fires or candles in the properties (except the wood burner in The Old Farmhouse)
âą Not to tamper with fire fighting equipment or fire aid kits other than in an emergency
âą On departure guests strip all beds and empty bins
âą Observe No Entry signs around the farmyard and keep children and dogs under close control when outside the property.
âą Vehicle to be parked in designated parking areas
âą No fireworks or sky lanterns to be let off at the properties.
To follow Hot Tub Rules including:
âą No unaccompanied bathing for under 18s
âą No under 16âs using the hot tub, supervise children around the hot tub at all times and ensure the cover is in on when not in use.
âą Full rules available on request and at the homes.
In the event of breach of terms and conditions, the Guests will be required to leave the property immediately and no refunds will be offered.
Pet Rules
âą Well behaved dogs are welcomes at both of our properties if you agree to the following rules, any breaches which lead to damage or increased cleaning will be deducted from your security deposit.
âą Dogs under one year should be discussed and allowed to stay with the agreement of the owners
âą Dogs are kept downstairs and are not allowed on the furniture
âą They are only left alone for short periods of time
âą The are treated regularly for fleas, worms and ticks
âą Dog waste is picked up and disposed of in the outside bins
âą Dogs are washed on in the Dog Wash
âą They are kept under close control on the driveway
Please let us know if your dogs are reactive as we do have dogs on the farm.
