À propos de cet hébergement
Palace Garden Cottage - Sleeping 6 Guests in 3 Bedrooms
A dog-friendly Grade II listed cottage in the historic town of Bishop Auckland.
This pretty cottage set beside the grand gates of the Auckland Palace, the historic residence of the bishops of Durham, and is a relaxing base from which to enjoy the area’s attractions. With the Palace’s impressive castle, museums and restaurants on your doorstep, as well as their exciting calendar of events and activities, it’s the perfect spot for a varied retreat with friends or family.
Enter the cottage into the inner hallway, with the living room lying immediately to the left. Combining honeyed Indian Yellow walls with comfy sofas and original artworks, it’s a cosy place to settle in with a book or evening cocktail. Further along the hall towards the rear of the cottage you’ll find the separate dining room, with a door which leads into the kitchen. Spacious and inviting, it features a separate pantry and a door which leads out to the enclosed lawned garden – complete with garden furniture so you can dine al fresco when the sun is shining. South-facing and with views over the Auckland Palace’s stunning 17th-century Walled Garden, you’ll happily while away hours here during the warmer months.
The three bedrooms are located upstairs and are each home to king size beds. The first of these can also be configured as twins and enjoys views out to the marketplace. The second bedroom lies down a couple of steps and looks out across the Walled Garden which bursts into colour in the spring. The third and final bedroom is decorated with a rose pink colour palette, complemented by striped textiles, and enjoys views of the gates and clock tower above. All bedrooms are served by a family bathroom on this floor with a walk-in shower.
An area of rich history and beautiful landscapes, there’s plenty to keep you occupied in County Durham. In addition to all the attractions of the Auckland Project, look forward to days spent on the trails in Weardale and Teesdale in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or get immersed in the storied pasts of Raby Castle or the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Durham’s castle and cathedral, both of which are just a short drive away.
ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATION
For guests looking to holiday together, there are three other properties under the same ownership - Bishop Lightfoot Cottage sleeping 6, Churchill Cottage sleeping 4, and The Clarence sleeping 8.
