Beechcraft stay

My family and I came back to Beechcraft for a second year running as we enjoyed staying in this house so much. We love Dartmouth and the position of the house to the town is perfect. The size and space of the house is amazing. The house is a little dated and the showers could do with updating but all in all we highly recommend this property.

wonderful weekend

We had the most wonderful trip to Dartmouth . The property met our expectations . It allowed us to enjoy family time together with a lot of space . The views are phenomenal from the property . The main balcony allowed us all to sit outside together and take in the jaw dropping river views . The location is so near the vibrant town that a car was not necessary at all . We could walk the coast path and take a dip in the cool river in one of the lovely coves . Thankyou for the memories that we’ve made and would i return to the property….. absolutely xx

One of the most disappointing and frustrating holiday rental experiences we have had. The property was dark, messy and had an almost overwhelming odour of damp/mildew. We found hairs in the bathroom, dead bugs in a disused aquarium, and stained sheets. There was clutter everywhere and personal items left out, including a pile of unchecked mail in the entryway. This is not the kind of experience we would expect from a professional, managed rental. On inspecting the house, we found a window that had come loose from its frame, and a toilet that would not flush. The overall impression was wildly different to the one given by photographs in the listing. The smell alone was so bad that we ended up leaving the property after an hour and staying elsewhere, yet the host and rental company refused to consider a refund, and even charged us for the cleaning fee despite us never having stayed in the property long enough to leave any kind of mess. The lack of reviews on VRBO made it hard to judge condition before booking - but we would urge anyone considering a stay to do an internet search for Beechcroft, Dartmouth reviews on other booking sites. The use of words like "disappointing" and "just about acceptable" suggest we are not alone in our assessment. Even though we lost money by moving out, we were pleased to find other, excellent accommodation with great hosts. We are very glad not to have ruined a wonderful stay in a wonderful town by settling for this property.

We are truly sorry to hear that you did not enjoy one of our homes. Beechcroft has been a successful holiday home for more than 20 years. Enjoyed by hundreds of families. However we take all complaints seriously which is why we sent one of our staff and the property manager who visits the property weekly over to the property straight away to see what they could do, to make you comfortable. Unfortunately, they did not encounter any smell or find the issues you raised like Mould on window frames, stained bedding or reports of it being unclean. We did offer to send back a housekeeper to do whatever you wanted her to do if you wanted to provide any more details but you declined it. The guest after you left a 5* review on Airbnb Beechcroft - Large, Waterfront sleeps 10 The pictures didn’t do the accommodation justice. We never realised until we got there that there were in fact two living areas. Everything from the furniture, DVDs, games, utensils, made it feel like a home from home. The garden was very beautiful and we would love to come back in the summer. The hosts were very responsive. We would 100% have to have a home cleaned regardless of how long a guest is in a property. We want to make sure that home is clean and presentable to a guest and that would not have been the case if we had not conducted a full clean and linen change after your stay. It was clear that you had tried to use toilets, inspected bedding etc.
