à propos de cet hébergement
Le Grenier - Six Chambres Villa, Couchages 12
The wonderfully renovated Le Grenier, a short walk away from the centre of lively St-Rémy-de-Provence, comfortably welcomes 12 guests, has plenty of living space and is a fantastic holiday home for families or friends.
The modern well-equipped kitchen lies adjacent to a spacious, light and gracefully furnished dining and living area with a cathedral style ceiling. Share convivial meals at the long table inside or beneath the colourfully sheltered terrace near the pool. Huge windows at the end of the living room give views of the garden and open to the terrace surrounding the home. Â
Indeed, air-conditioned Le Grenier has been designed so that inside and out merge beautifully to give a great sense of space and freedom. The heated pool is easily accessible to the house and the pretty garden has lawns, a large and shady mulberry and a scattering of olive trees to remind us that we are in glorious Provence.
The four double bedrooms on the main floor have been uniquely designed with splashes of rich beautiful colours and exquisite bathroom tiles to admire. The mezzanine is another exciting feature, housing the billiard table and perfect for young people who might want to get away from the crowd. On the same floor are two more double bedrooms, one of which is ideal for a young family with its additional single bed, cot and a private terrace with lovely views of Les Alpilles.
St-Rémy-de-Provence is a town in the majestic setting of Les Alpilles between Avignon and Arles filled with shaded boulevards, lovely squares and a range of eating places from bistros to Michelin starred restaurants. Vincent Van Gogh painted several of his masterpieces in the Monastery here and the town is still an inspiration for many artists.
Les Alpilles Natural Park is a wonderful area of small mountains, olive groves, pine and oak forests, idyllic villages, world-renowned towns and golden swathes of summer sunflowers. As well as more adventurous pursuits, there are plenty of leisurely walks and bike rides to be enjoyed here, accompanied by the fragrance of Mediterranean herbs and the chatter of cicadas. Les Baux-de-Provence and Eygalieres, two of Franceâs acclaimed âPlus Beaux Villagesâ, and the historic cities of Arles and Avignon are all within easy reach.
There are many local family-friendly outdoor activities available in Les Alpilles including golf, tennis, hiking, horse riding, rock climbing and mountain biking. Beyond Arles, the stunning salt marshes and rice fields of the Camargue offer more opportunities for adventure as well as a chance to spot wild white horse and pink flamingos.

Location:
Le Grenier is in a residential area on the outskirts of St-Rémy-de-Provence between Avignon and Arles in the gorgeous Bouches-du-RhÎne region of southern France.
In the heart of Les Alpilles, St-Rémy-de-Provence is known for its winding ancient streets with elegant boutiques, galleries, old fountains and shaded squares. The beautiful countryside and fine quality of light has attracted many artists, many of whom now live in the area and sell their art in the local galleries.
Vincent Van Gogh painted many of his masterpieces in the countryside around the town and it is lovely to walk to the places which inspired him - the mountains, the iconic olive and cypress trees and those wonderful fields of wheat and wild flowers. Visit the Monastery Saint-Paul de Mausole, the psychiatric hospital where the artist stayed, and the Van Gogh Arts Centre at the 18th century Hotel Estrine. Â
The town and surrounding area are also famous for its many picturesque eating places and Michelin starred restaurants - food lovers will enjoy shopping at the townâs famous Wednesday morning market. St-RĂ©my is built on one of the oldest archaeological sites in Europe and you can still visit the excavations of Glanum, the former graeco-roman city. For those who want to know more about the wider area, the Museum of Les Alpilles is fascinating.
Les Alpilles Natural Park is a wonderful area filled with vineyards, olive groves, idyllic hillside villages and you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of those swathes of sunflowers, so loved by Van Gogh. There are plenty of family-friendly activities to enjoy here such as hiking and mountain biking, horse riding and rock climbing while the gentler pursuits of tennis and golf are easily accessible. Take a leisurely bike ride through the nearby olive groves and vineyards, enveloped by fragrant herbs and the gentle chatter of cicadas.
Only 10km south of St-RĂ©my is Les Baux-de-Provence, one of Franceâs Plus Beaux Villages, perched high on a hill with narrow streets, pretty squares and little shops to enchant you. A few kms southwards from Les Baux is Mausanne-les-Alpilles which produces some of the best olive oil in France using the energy of its two windmills. Itâs only a 15 minute drive eastwards from Le Grenier to EygaliĂšres, much loved by a small handful of A-list celebrities and with some spectacular views over Les Alpilles towards Arles.
Take the 40-minute drive southwards to the city of Arles, renowned for its fine architecture and interesting Roman remains, another place much loved by Van Gogh during his short stay here. It is only a short drive southwards from Arles to the Camargue Regional Park, a beautiful landscape filled with salt marshes, rice fields, lagoons and beaches not forgetting its iconic pink flamingos, black bulls and wild white horses.
