Boasting a private swimming pool and just a 5-min ride from the beach, this fully-equipped property nestled among lush greenery in a 2000sqm plot, awaits you for unique moments! Located in the Drapanias village, in the north-west of Crete, 30km from the bustling city of Chania, gaze upon the sea from the patio's sun loungers or explore the nearby beaches of Drapanias (2km), Falasarna (13km), Balos (20km) and the worldwide known Elafonisi (40km).

The Space:
Boasting a private swimming pool, what makes Sofiana so special is its traditional character along with coziness and sense of serenity near nature. It has stone walls and the ceiling is coated with cypress trunks and reeds. It is surrounded from 2000 sqm of gardens full of trees and flowers. The property has two levels. On the ground floor there is a living room with a sofa bed, a fully-equipped kitchen and two bedrooms: one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds, plus a full bathroom with a washing machine. In one of the bedrooms there is an equipped office desk. On the upper floor, a kitchenette, one more double bed bedroom and a bathroom with shower. All rooms are air-conditioned for optimal comfort. At summertime the house remains cool due to the stonewalls.
We will gladly provide you with herbs from our garden, coffee/tea, sugar/salt, local olive oil and a welcome treat on the day of your arrival.
At the gardens, there are many olive trees and many different plants. Depending on the season we are planting vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers and fruits like bananas and watermelons. There is a traditional wooden fired stonewall oven, a classic barbecue, a wooden self-made ping-pong table, dining tables and swing sets.
There is a beautiful impressive tree house on the top of a large old olive tree where you can relax and medidate. A double bed can also be found there.

Guest Access:
You will have exclusive access to all of the house, gardens and terrace and the April through October seasonal pool!

The Neighborhood:
Drapanias, a picturesque village in the Chania region of Crete, serves as a perfect base for exploring a variety of attractions that blend natural beauty, history, and culture. Within the village itself, you can stroll through its quiet streets, observe traditional Cretan architecture, and experience the authentic charm of a serene rural community. Drapanias Beach, just a 5-min drive away, offers a peaceful setting for swimming, sunbathing, or walking along its expansive shoreline, surrounded by views of the Aegean Sea. At the village itself you can find bakeries, taverns and a market at just 600m from the property.

One of the highlights of the area is Balos Lagoon (20km), famed for its exotic turquoise waters and soft white sands, accessible by boat or a scenic hike. Close by, Gramvousa Island (13km) beckons with its Venetian fortress and awe-inspiring vistas. For those who love rugged landscapes, the Elafonissi Beach (40km), known for its pink sands and crystal-clear waters, provides a dreamlike escape, while Falasarna Beach (13km) is ideal for sunset views and watersports.

The nearby town of Kissamos (5km) is a hub for exploration, featuring a vibrant harbor, local shops, and the Archaeological Museum of Kissamos, where you can delve into the region's rich history. Not far from Kissamos, the ancient city of Polyrinia (10km) reveals remnants of a once-thriving civilization, perched on a hilltop with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and coastline.


Nature enthusiasts can explore the gorge of Topolia (10km), a dramatic landscape of towering cliffs and lush vegetation, or head to the Agia Irini Gorge (40km)for a less crowded but equally captivating hiking experience.

Wine lovers can enjoy tastings at local vineyards, including those in the Kissamos area, renowned for producing excellent Cretan wines. Foodies will delight in the numerous tavernas scattered across Drapanias and the surrounding villages, where traditional Cretan dishes made from local ingredients are served with warm hospitality.

Getting Around:
There is a frequent bus connection to and from Drapanias village towards various locations, such as Kissamos and Chania. We highly recommend you rent a vehicle in order to venture out and explore more freely! The Chania International Airport is at 47 km from the proeprty.
