à propos de cet hébergement
Bespoke luxury accommodation for couples in a romantic and idyllic setting.
In the heart of Perthshire in the small village of Dunning sits The Studio, a bespoke and individual property providing luxury accommodation for couples. The setting is idyllic, surrounded by beautiful gardens and woodland, looking over fields, a golf course and up into the Ochil Hills. The property is designed to help you unwind, relax and enjoy every moment. It's a great place to recharge your batteries so that you can leave feeling relaxed, refreshed and energised.
The Studio is a thoroughly modern and bright airy space. Every comfort has been thought of from the wriggling of your toes on the luxurious cosy carpet to the glory of the rainfall shower in the bathroom. The walls have been painted in gentle Farrow and Ball colours and the fabrics mirror the understated elegance of the interior. There is underfloor heating throughout and this can be easily adjusted to your own preference. Quirky artworks and photographs by a well known local photographer hang on the walls.
As you enter by the french doors you'll find yourself in the sunny open plan sitting area with a comfy sofa, wall mounted 36â flat screen telly, Blue ray DVD player, freeview, Ipod with ceiling speakers and free wifi. There are plenty of DVD's, books and games to entertain you â it makes it a very hard place to tear yourself away from!
The kitchenette is tucked away and beautifully finished with beech worktops. There is a fridge/ice box, microwave, toaster, kettle, and sink plus all the essentials for making a tasty breakfast or a light supper.
You'll never want to leave your bed - it's a super king size with sumptuous linens and unbelievably comfy. You could spend all day here, just looking out at the amazing views ⊠However, when you do there is a dressing table, magnifying mirror and hairdryer plus exceptionally well appointed and hand made wardrobes with trouser rail, hanging space, shelves and shoe drawers. The bathroom is another space that's hard to leave â it's beautiful and built on the round, with stained glass windows and a magnificent shower. With a luxurious large rainfall head plus four body jets and a hand held shower it could keep you entertained for days. There are fluffy towels, dressing gowns and shower and body products by Arran Aromatics.
Outside the property is a small garden area with outdoor seating - perfect for a glass of wine while you watch the sun set. There is also a bbq area and pizza oven just around the corner in another part of the garden. Should you require laundry facilities there is a separate shared laundry room fully equipped with everything you might need.
When you don't want to cook ...There are two pubs in Dunning, The Kirkstyle Inn and The Dunning Hotel. The Kirkstyle Inn has excellent beers, a good restaurant inside and a pizza oven. The Dunning Hotel also provides drinks and meals. Beside the Golf Course is the Tee Room where you can have snacks and soups. Broadslap Farm Shop and Cafe is just outside the village â you can pick your own fruit in the season.
There are lots of lovely restaurants nearby and a good taxi service (M&M Chauffeur Drive - 07715 251875) if you don't want to drive. There are too many to list but here are a few of our favourites.
If you'd like a bit of brunch or afternoon tea then head to Gloagburn Farm Shop and cafe for the tastiest treats about (and the shopping isn't too bad either.) You could also try Loch Levens Larder or The Pillars of Hercules. If you'd like something more indulgent then there are all the cocktail bars and restaurants at Gleneagles or Cromlix House.
Or, if youâd like to make use of our nearby (and utterly delicious) catering service they are happy to prepare Indian food either freshly chilled in your fridge when you arrive or for your collection during your stay. You wonât have tasted anything quite like this outside of India - we can thoroughly recommend it. Either contact them directly anjali.thatal@yahoo.com for meals while you are staying or if youâd like to have it collected prior to your arrival please arrange it through Bruce and Hilary.
In the area there are great walks - The Dell (up past the Nisa on the B934) is beautiful at any time of year but especially in bluebell season. The circuit probably takes about an hour out along the river bank then a stiff climb up and back along the top path. Or head out along the back road to Auchterarder (B8062) and see the monument where the last witch in Scotland is said to have been burnt. Take a walk to and around Kincladie Wood (Perth Road B394) which is lovely. See you can spot all the different birds and wildlife through our community woodland plus look out for the site of a Roman Encampment. If you're feeling fit then a hike up Craig Rossie is an energetic day out.
If you have time âŠThere is the local 9-hole golf course which always welcomes visitors, the tennis courts (tickets available at The Nisa) and local fishing can sometimes be arranged â just ask! We have a couple of yoga teachers in the village who run weekly classes and are also available for one-one sessions. In our local village we have the beautiful St Serfs Church and Dupplin Cross in the heart of the village. During the season Historic Scotland have guides available. Or if you want to worship then there is our local Dunning Parish Church. We have a well-stocked Village Shop (Nisa) where you can buy your daily necessities plus some local produce, also the Post Office. There is a part time doctors surgery with the main medical practice being St Margarets Health Centre in nearby Auchterarder and a mobile bank calls once a week as does the library. There is also a fish van that drives around the village on a Friday morning with a delicious selection of fresh fish and seafood from Abroath. When you hear his horn he's nearby.
There is everything within a short distance ⊠indoor and outdoor bouldering near Dumbarton and Glasgow, skiing and snowboarding either at Aviemore or Glenshee when the snow is here or at Hillend, Edinburgh on the dry ski slope when it's not! Zip lining and tree top walks near Aviemore, bungee jumping at Pitlochry, river tubing, canoeing, paddle sports near Aberfeldy, mountain biking from Dunkeld, Kite Surfing and Land Yachting at St Andrews â the list goes on and on!
There are so many beautiful spots nearby from gardens and scenic spots to distilleries and mountains. You'll find lots of information in your accommodation but if you have any particular interests or you'd like to walk, drive or cycle a beautiful picturesque route then we can give you printouts and directions so please just ask.
For gardens which are worth a visit we'd like to suggest nearby Scone Palace or a National Trust property Branklyn Gardens in Perth, Drummond Gardens which is spectacular or the nearby Japanese Garden close to Dollar.
For stunning scenery then the obvious choice is Glen Coe but there are many beautiful spots - I love the drive up through Dunning Glen towards the Yettes of Muckhart or through Glendevon with a stop for a pub lunch at The Inn at Muckhart. There are plenty of places to stop and picnic or just to pause and admire the view.
Our nearest whisky distilleries are Tullibardine at Blackford, Deanston on the River Teith or Glenturret over near Crieff and if you're a whisky lover then make sure to add these to your list. Bruce is a keen whisky taster and would be delighted to arrange tastings or just talk whisky (and old cars!)
We love to show off Scotland to our guests so if there is something you'd like to do whilst you are staying with us then we are only too happy to try and make it happen. Just ask!
There are tennis courts in the village (tickets available from the village shop) plus indoor and outdoor courts at Gleneagles or Stirling University. There is an abundance of golf courses in the locality and a good starting point would be the website. On our doorstep is the 9-hole Dunning Golf Club and they are delighted to welcome new guests. Nearby are Auchterarder and Crieff and of course the prestigious courses of Gleneagles, Carnoustie and St Andrews to name but a few. There are plenty of cycle routes and your hosts know all the local ones â just ask! There is a bicycle repair shop in Auchterarder (Synergy Cycles) where you can rent bikes by the day or fix the ones you have. It also has a couple of community electric bikes which are available but prior booking is required. There are very good bike shops in Auchterarder & Dunkeld. The River Tay runs right through the heart of Perthshire and if you're interested in catching a salmon then this is the place to look. If you prefer trout then why not try Drummond Fish Farm, Sandyknowes or Frandy Fishery where you're âalmostâ guaranteed a bite. Or you could watch the salmon leap during the season either up the waterfall at Buchanty Spout or through the salmon ladder at Pitlochry. We are ideally situated for hikes and walks for all abilities (there's even a rucksack and thermos provided should you wish to take a picnic!) A good website to look at is âWalkHighlandsâ which grades walks and hikes very clearly from a gentle stroll, or a more adventurous hike up to bagging a Monroe. Or head over to Loch Katrine and take the steam boat down the loch and walk or cycle back. Right on our doorstep is Craig Rossie for a bit of a hill climb or you could visit the Roman Forts at Findo Gask- whatever your ability there is something for everyone â just ask us and we'd be happy to advise.

Qui vous reçoit ?
Vous ĂȘtes reçu par Hilary and Bruce Paterson

We thoroughly enjoy renting our beautiful property and watching guests come to enjoy the area as much as we do. We have lived here since 2000 and have renovated our own property and The Studio over the years up to it's current standard. It's been a labour of love!
Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?
The Studio is a purpose built wing added to our own house and is luxuriously designed from top to toe. It is beautifully finished and fully equipped with everything you could possible need. if something is missing - just ask!
Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?
We love this property because of the outstanding views and natural beauty of the area. It's in central Perthshire so you can be walking in the hills and walking on the beach in the same day! Ideally placed for the buzz of our two main cities - Edinburgh and Glasgow but rural enough to enjoy a secluded retreat if you choose. Just perfect.
